Where the hell do you all find jeans?

I went to the Hillfiger outlet today which is where i bought the last two pairs from, and have worn them to death, but they had nothing!
So now im left with two scabby pairs from next that ive had for about 6 years.

Any tips on buying some really nice, not overpriced jeans.

Im a size 8/10, like a slim leg or nice (not mumsy) bootcut

My Jeans are all from Matalan. Their middleaged mum range.

They are lovely.

RealLifeIsForWimps · 20/02/2012 13:06

7 for all mankind if I'm feeling flush. Topshop if I'm not. My best pair ever came from French Connection, but every subsequent pair from there has been a disappointment.

ifancyashandy · 20/02/2012 13:10

Reallife, have you tried the French Connection Skinnies? I think they're a great fit / cut / quality.

QuickLookBusy · 20/02/2012 13:18

MossChops30 I would try Levis again.

I think you should go by their waist size not any other sizing. I'm a size 8 in every other shop but just get 28" waist with Levis, because that is what my waist size is.
They also do 2/3 leg sizes. I'm only 5 foot 3, but I can easily get Levis to fit me. Over the years I've tried loads of makes and Levis do fit the best for slim, short arsesGrin

RealLifeIsForWimps · 20/02/2012 13:20

Maybe I should give them another whirl. Will check them out next time I'm in the UK

shopafrolic · 20/02/2012 16:26

ifancyashandy I've spent way more than £80 on jeans in my time. Completely agree, if they fit well, make you feel good about yourself and you can afford them - go for it!

shopafrolic · 20/02/2012 16:28

Seven for all Makind shop at Bicester village are selling clearance jeans at £39 each at the mo if you live nearby.......

Skinny jeans from Primark, not because they're cheap but because the fit really well, wash really well, don't fade particularly. I would spend more on them...but they happen to be cheap and are great.
For "boyfriend" style (I think that's what they call them), sort of baggyish, flarey, I love my Uniqlo ones which cost about 4 times those in Primark, but they are great.

AmberNectarine · 20/02/2012 16:36

Oh goodness, have and would spend treble that on good jeans. When you spend the majority of your time in them, as I do, on a cost per wear basis it's a bargain! If you can afford it, who cares?

Sockspence · 20/02/2012 16:43

I'm with Amber. After years of creating a cheap denim mountain, I now have a few pairs of really goodduns and it is a joy

Hudson Baby Bootcut are the best for a non-mumsy and well-fitting. I think mine were about £140.

startail · 20/02/2012 18:37

Thanks, I'll google Levi and I need to look on the Web for Gap since my local one only had small ones in stock.
Gap curvy boot legs fit, but I'm also too short and they'd be a horrible shortening job.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 20/02/2012 18:49

Top Shop and Gap for mid-price range for me.

I don't understand anyone who's abe to get good jeans in New Look - whenever I've looked in there the jeans have all been awful.

I swear by 7s though - agree with AmberNectarine.

ifancyashandy · 20/02/2012 19:16

Thanks shop! And (whisper it!), they ain't in no way my most pricey pair! I may have a J Brand and 7 for All addiction!!

mosschops30 · 20/02/2012 19:51

Oh no i may have to go to bicester! Is it worth the trip?

happybubblebrain · 20/02/2012 19:54

I bought two pairs from Hennes and both of them keep falling down. So maybe not there.

trixymalixy · 20/02/2012 20:57

I'm quite liking warehouse ultra skinnies. They are quite high waisted so don't give a muffin top.

BellaVita · 20/02/2012 20:58

French Connection slim fit jeans.

partyhats · 20/02/2012 21:35

sockspence Are the Hudson baby bootcut very triangular from the knee? I am after a slim bootcut so that they just flare a little bit at the bottom. I was looking at these but they seemed quite flarey in the picture.
I kick myself not buying a pair of Nudie starcy ones in a dark rinse, seem to be sold out everywhere now.

shopafrolic · 20/02/2012 21:46

Mosschops - Bicester is well worth a visit if you've never been. Make a day of it. Good places to eat there too. Full of high end designer clothes at low prices - Burberry, Dior, Prada, Gucci etc etc.

warthog · 20/02/2012 21:56

uniqlo. fantastic cut and £35.

ifancyashandy · 20/02/2012 22:37

Thems the puppies BelleVita. Fab jeans.

mosschops30 · 21/02/2012 09:29

DON'T go to Bicester on a Saturday or during the school holidays if you can help it. Or go first thing in the morning. It gets terribly busy.

It is worth it though, I have got some lovely bargains from Reiss, French Connection and Jack Wills (I don't really do high end designer tbh).

There are also decent restaurants, not like the normal outlet crap, so you can have a really nice day out of it.

poorbuthappy · 21/02/2012 09:40

Found a replacement pair of skinnies in tk maxx yesterday - Angel or something like that?
Also found a lovely pair of 7 for all mankind in an age 7 but dd1 hated them (obviously not my child Angry) and told me if I bought them she would never wear them. Damn that child Wink
