Where the hell do you all find jeans?

I went to the Hillfiger outlet today which is where i bought the last two pairs from, and have worn them to death, but they had nothing!
So now im left with two scabby pairs from next that ive had for about 6 years.

Any tips on buying some really nice, not overpriced jeans.

Im a size 8/10, like a slim leg or nice (not mumsy) bootcut

Primark skinnies.

PoohBearsHole · 20/02/2012 09:17

Zara aren't too bad and I say that as someone who has lost a bit of weight and is now excited to fit into the skinny 14's there. They have a bit of stretch to them as well which makes them super comfy. I was suprised. I bought them recently I think for about £30 but can't be sure. I also bought some in their sale for £9.99 so worth a look. They aren't as good as they are a bit long but good with higher heel and if you are a dab hand with a sewing needle/machine then they would be great.

mousymouseafraidofdogs · 20/02/2012 09:18

I have recently got a pair of jeans from levis. a bit more expensive than what I usually spend on jeans/trousers (90£) but the fit is great.
gap jeans are also good (and not as pricey) but I find they fabric thins quite quickly and they only last me about a year (only have 3 pairs of trousers I rotate atm).

PoohBearsHole · 20/02/2012 09:18

(have to say have been on a quest for perfect jeans for several years - did try some lovely very expensive ones on in JL I think they were around £200 and I did consider them for about 5 mins actually I bought them and then decided they were an extravagence too far I owned them for the princely time of 30 mins until I took them back Blush

second uniqlo but would suggest a smaller size as they do stretch quite a bit and mine are now redundant as they are too big Sad and JL skinnies for black are nice as they don't lose their colour as much as the warehouse ones have. The warehouse ones were a better fit though.

All of the ones I am referring too are skinny with a slight stretch. I think I should probably revert to jeggings as I like the feeling of leggings but not the cling Sad

QuickLookBusy · 20/02/2012 09:22

Levis and Gap, good fit and look good for ages.

theseventhdwarf · 20/02/2012 09:26

I second Topshop
Baxters (but go down a size) are skinny straight leg so a bit flattering
Jamie's are nice but very skinny (have 2 pairs that have held shape well)
MIh for your luxury jeans -the most fabulous and gorgeous jeans ever!
Oasis Do nice skinnies too - but they are very light denim
Next and H and m jeans don't last same with Zara - have found in the past that they were baggy and lost fit after a couple of washes so not worth it at all IMHO

mosschops30 · 20/02/2012 09:29

I looked in levis yesterday, the two styles i tried were a size 8, for a woman who is a size 8 with a size 20 waist and a size 24 arse, size 0 hips and ten feet tall Hmm

will try zara and gap. I would love a pair f 7 for all mankind

clippityclop · 20/02/2012 09:29

I got two pairs of jeans in M&S last year with 4% lycra which are the best I've ever had, sort of straight bootcut without the usual M&S dropp thing going on. Anyone know of anything similar?

southeastastra · 20/02/2012 09:31

try tk maxx, ours had levi curve id from £24 and esprit jeans when i looked last

poorbuthappy · 20/02/2012 09:33

I have this problem too.
This week 2 pairs have been retired.
1 skinny pair from new look sale. Cost me a tenner and were fab.
1 7 fir all mankind which I have had for years and I can't afford to replace. I cried when I binned them. SadSad
Tk maxx this afternoon to see what I can find.

ifancyashandy · 20/02/2012 09:35

French Connection (about £80 but worth it. I have 4 pairs of their skinnies. Good weight denim, keep their shape and colour).

7 for All Mankind - I get mine in the Joseph sale. Got three pairs for £150. As opposed to £150 each!

Top Shop Baxters or Jamies.

(Primark are ok-ish for cheap coloured jeans that you won't want to wear next season. BUT, I find you have to try on loads of the same size to find a pair that actually fit you. I tried on 6 pairs of size 10 before I found a pair that didn't gape on the waist but still fitted on the arse / thigh.)

Bienchen · 20/02/2012 09:35

TK Maxx for me as well. Can be hit and miss but I get to try brands that I would otherwise not try as not stocked locally and buy as too expensive. Got a pair of Miss Sixty skinnies for something like £25 and they are perfect for me; I went back and scored another pair as I was so happy with them. They also do J Brand, etc, but it is of course complete hit and miss.

Just bought some fabby Karen Millen black Houlihan type jeans for £30 down from £105 from their EBay outlet Smile they only had a ten which will take me 3 months of zero carbs to achieve

Cheers for the tip!

HappyAsEyeAm · 20/02/2012 11:10

I have very recently discovered Gap. Their Curvy jeans fit me really well, and on a skinny day, their Long and Lean look ok on me too.

I spent ages and ages trying to find jeans that fit before I found these including having them made to measure in Selfridges for £££ (the jeans they made for me were at least one size too small, despite me not having gained any weight at all in the 2 weeks it took them between measuring me in their 3D scanning booth and making the jeans up).

ifancyashandy · 20/02/2012 11:23

Yup. £80. On ONE pair of jeans. Worth every penny. That's why I have 4 pairs.

And they are some of my cheap ones.

All relative, innit.

snowwombat · 20/02/2012 11:36

startail Levis. Fab for those of us who are generous of arse. The Bold curve if you are pear shaped. The 512 straight leg are great too.

I wasn't aware I'd answered a thread on 'AIBU' *Leonie.

I work full time.

Don't feel the need to justify my spending any further.

Has anyone bought any Victoria Beckham jeans? I have heard that they are a good fit.

I am definitely going to get some Karen Millen jeans, but am mid-diet at the moment, so will wait until i am a 25" waist

Likesshinythings · 20/02/2012 12:43

I've just bought a pair of "Curvy Skinny" jeans from Gap and they are fab. I usually can't do skinny jeans due to ampleness of thighs and bottom but these fit brilliantly.

Sonotkylie · 20/02/2012 12:53

Gap curvy skinny get my vote too. Not so much for svelte OP (though she may of course be curvy and size 8. In which case, I am sorry, I would have to hate you) but some of the rest of us. Uniqlo are very good too (particularly for the price) as long as they aren't too stretchy ...
