What can I replace my Janice dress with

My lovely grey Janice dress from Phase 8 is no longer and i cant find anything as flattering. I'm tall and appleshaped 14 with good legs. I loved the material and the drape accross the tum. I've seen the VW anglomania ones but want something a bit cheaper, that I can wear with a jacket or a cardigan to cover wobbly arms.

Looked in Phase 8 but they have nothing similar and nothing on ebay.. I should have bought more when i had the chance. Is there anything similar around at the moment?

When my arms are sufficiently shredded I plan to get this from Great Plains

Also, Me and Em might have a dress that fit the bill - lots of love for the cap sleeved ruched dress on the Avid and Wise thread so might be worth asking the ladies if any of them have tried it?

I ordered, then cancelled thsi (delivery probs) but I LOVE it, just cannot wait that long.

I woudl love an VW Anglomania too but too £££

noddyholder · 15/02/2012 16:57

cyb · 15/02/2012 16:58

My knees cant take short

FoofFighter · 15/02/2012 16:58

DP dress Any use?

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 15/02/2012 17:24

Nice DP dress

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 17:29

Noddy - have a look in Oasis for reasonably priced biker jackets. I'm utterly in love with mine!

VW Anglomania ones often go down to about a hundred pounds in sales and Phase Eight ones are often around 70-80 anyway. The VW quality is much better. I was so disappointed with the quality of the Janice. I'd seriously recommend that you buy something el-cheapo to tide you over and then go for a sale VW.

Re the el-cheapo, if you are tall M&S Autograph sometimes have some clingy drapey dresses that are surprisingly nice - but they are all way too long for me. Not looked lately though.

noddyholder · 15/02/2012 17:35

Thanks off to look Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 17:39

Just looked at M&S and they are all crap except possibly this one but it is a silly length and the model looks as if hers if three sizes too big for her.

Miomio · 15/02/2012 17:58

I'm a very similar shape to you.

I think that this dress would be v flattering and good colour ghost dress not to ££ Though I do begrudge that for viscose

bambootoo · 15/02/2012 18:29

Some great suggestions thanks, that dp one has got to be worth a try, I like short too

Ordered this
www.my-wardrobe.com/vivienne-westwood-anglomania/black-drape-dress-563516
just for a try... And quite like the look of some stuff in all saints...

I got a dress from great plains. ? The Sofia ? Was blue. Top fit was ofd

FoofFighter · 15/02/2012 18:41

DP have got a lot of really very good dresses in right now

Sparklegeek · 15/02/2012 19:11

Well, thanks to that recommendation I've just ordered 3 dresses from DP! And don't tell anyone, but when I googled for a promotional code I discovered that if you enter any 20 digit number in the student box, you get the 25% student discount as well as free P & P! Just sayin' :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 19:22

Love the dipped neck on that VW one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 19:25

Think I must be the only person on MN who doesn't like Great Plains. You have never struck me as a GP kind of gal, Pharoah.

noddyholder · 15/02/2012 19:32

I am not over keen. Bought a coat which looked quite cool but is in reality shapeless and frumpy!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 19:34

Yes, shapeless and frumpy -and poor quality and scratchy. And lots of polyester. They had a dress last year that looked cute on the website (tigers all over it) but irl was really odd and very cheap looking - and polyester.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/02/2012 19:59

HEART1012 should get £10 off me&em today.

Agree with great plains - horrid quality and fabrics.

And also agree that you'd be wise to wait for an anglomania sale - actually think its going to be on cocosa shortly.

bakewelladdiction · 15/02/2012 20:02

Just ordered from DP and pretended I'm a student to get that discount! Am all paranoid now I'll get found out......but got two hopefully lovely dresses! Thanks Sparklegeek x
