What can I replace my Janice dress with

My lovely grey Janice dress from Phase 8 is no longer and i cant find anything as flattering. I'm tall and appleshaped 14 with good legs. I loved the material and the drape accross the tum. I've seen the VW anglomania ones but want something a bit cheaper, that I can wear with a jacket or a cardigan to cover wobbly arms.

Looked in Phase 8 but they have nothing similar and nothing on ebay.. I should have bought more when i had the chance. Is there anything similar around at the moment?

This is slightly Janice-y www.mandco.com/modern-icon/printed-cowl-neck-jersey-dress/invt/1220543black/

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 15/02/2012 20:06

Think you're being a bit hard on GP - quality is variable and probably wouldn't buy at full price but have had some nice bits from there.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/02/2012 20:20

I'll believe you missbeehiving Smile

I think it used to be a lot better but like french connection - its got worse in the last couple of years.

Mind you - everyone seems to be polyester mad at the moment [sniff]

Tillyscoutsmum · 15/02/2012 20:22

I bought three janice dresses (grey, striped and navy) and love them. I've just bought one from H&M which is pretty flattering. Will see if I can find it online

Tillyscoutsmum · 15/02/2012 20:24

here

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 15/02/2012 20:26

Smile Well I didn't pay much for my purchases so maybe I'm biased Grin

Sparklegeek · 15/02/2012 22:39

Tilly that H & M dress is lovely. But how short in real life? Looks v short on the model & at 5 ft 9 I suspect too short on me too :( And why oh why don't H & M do size 12-14??? They are cutting out such a huge chunk of potential market!

Tillyscoutsmum · 16/02/2012 07:40

I'm 5'7" and the bottom comes to just above my knee and the 'v' is slightly higher. It rules out anything except opaques or leggings for me but its great with those. I agree the sizing can be a bit crap Sad

Pharoahnuff · 16/02/2012 14:21

Ive ordere the H and M one

grr at anoying sizes

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/02/2012 14:36

The H&M one is a lovely style but yet again they've made it in polyester - and I hate the stuff.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2012 14:49

Agree re polyester - vile stuff.

noddyholder · 16/02/2012 14:59

I saw the h and m one irl was attracted by the colour but you would need to be kate moss like to wear it

OllieinOrange · 16/02/2012 15:17

Not cheap but Ce Me London does lots of drapey jersey dresses in all sort of colours, styles and sleeve lengths. here

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 16/02/2012 16:30

I ordered one of those CeMe dresses from the Outnet or NAP and there was a bit too much fabric IMO. It was reminscent of a bandage. And hideous creasing.

noddyholder · 16/02/2012 17:04

I think the drapey dresses may be this years gypsy skirt.

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/02/2012 17:07

I agree Noddy.

Whizzed through JL today and every concession aimed at the more ahem mature lady had them - phase 8 had some hideous looking floral one.

noddyholder · 16/02/2012 17:38

I think they are like leggings lull you into a false sense of security and could cause expanding waist syndrome! I think they are mumsy

noddyholder · 16/02/2012 17:39

Tried on a navy structured sleeveless dress in cos much more flattering and slimming.

cyb · 16/02/2012 19:26

I ahve bought this as I love the midi length, v v flattering on me

shame my arse is about 4 foot across

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2012 19:40

Love the scooped back on that Cyb. What's the fabric like? You've got yourself a bargain there. Sadly, I seem to remember that you are a skinny minx and I have the stomach of a sumo wrestler.

noddyholder · 16/02/2012 19:52

I like that cyb.

cyb · 16/02/2012 22:24

Remus I most deffo am not a skinny minx. Am a tall 14 with big ol hips and butt

The material is a jersey, not the highest lycra content I've ever seen but I thought with little jacket and flats woudl be nice in spring

Wish I'd kept purple one now....

Gillybobs · 16/02/2012 23:00

I have high hopes for this little Phase Eight bargain, just ordered tonight. Theres a free delivery code on the site too. Delighted here

trixymalixy · 16/02/2012 23:04

Ooh I was going to link to the DP stripy dress, but I see I have been beaten to it!!DP have some great dresses in ATM.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/02/2012 23:15

Agree - I bought a drapey spotty one from DP but, sadly, may not be wearing as I've gained 6 lbs in two weeks and will be straining at the seams!
