Let's talk Boden.....what are we liking this Spring?

After a crummy couple of years I have to say I like a lot of the new collection. I have no idea as to the quality and whether that has improved. I am still waiting to see the reviews before I order.

So far I like- the Jersey Maxi Dress in three colourways.
The tan leather bag
Tan ballet pumps with the square toe
Cropped cashmere cardigans
Breton top
Tie front cardigans.
Maxi skirt
Casual jersey dress in navy.

I like the idea of the mariner jumper but the neckline is to high. I like a slash.
The jewellery isn't tempting me either.

So what are you tempted by?
Are you equally struck this time around?

I'm waiting for a local party to look at a few bits I have my eye on. Love the wide leg trousers in navy, leopard pumps, want to see the wrap top prints in the flesh, navy placket cardi, jewellery is very M&S looking, not my bag at all. Also fancy the sunglasses.

QueenCess · 18/01/2012 12:35

I love the wide leg trousers too in the ivory. Am lusting after the tan strappy heels and debating whether I can carry off the Cricket low v-neck without it looking too rah. I also have a bit of a thing for the leather yellow bag. Not my usual taste at all but for some reason I really like it as a clutch.

Am I menopausal?

I have ordered loads and 90% has gone back.

Kept 1 dress- the Santorini
Kept 1 cardi- the bell shaped sleeve one in pale grey.

am waiting for some chinos
am waiting for change of colour in the suede loafers

am waiting for another size in the Deauville jacket as the 10 is a tiny bit big.

overall, not very impressed this season. Poor colour choices in dresses- either garish prints or navy/purple.

Not very many nice tops but hoping they may be more in the summer catalogue.

QueenCess · 18/01/2012 16:10

ameilagrey have you tried any of the knitwear/shoes/bags?

The lack of reviews is very annoying. I always leave feedback and find it pretty spot on. Thanks for your feedback above. Smile

Sorry I meant any other shoes and knitwear. What is the knit like on the bell shaped cardigan quality wise?

Dollydowser · 18/01/2012 16:28

QueenCess I'm waiting for the reviews too, I keep checking but none up yet.

ForwardOcho · 18/01/2012 16:44

I'm waiting for my parcel - it has been sitting in the HDNL depot in Carlisle for two days now. QueenCess I liked all the things you liked - particularly the yellow bag as clutch too - must be the photography. Mind you - I am menopausal. I actually ordered the Mariner because of the neckline. Ordered the Roma dress in navy as I have just bought a little navy coatigan it would look great under. I'm having my colour analysis done on Monday so I might have to send it all back anyway.

QueenCess · 18/01/2012 16:53

Oooh ForwardOcho I am sooo tempted re the colour analysis too. I love the 12 blueprints page for info.

The photography is good this year I agree. I can't do the Mariner because I have a very short neck but I bet it will look fabulous on those more blessed in this regard

Report back when your parcel finally gets to you Smile

I have ordered the cricket jersey in cream and navy and the wide leg wool trousers

Got to pay to then be told some items are on 15 week delay.

QueenCess · 18/01/2012 17:04

What???? 15 bloody weeks is beyond the joke ESPECIALLY after paying. Grrrrr. The buggars.

FriskyMare · 18/01/2012 17:08

Boden don't normally debit your card until items are despatched iirc.
Have returned red suede bow sling backs - cheap looking and too orange.
Have just recieved sprout tie front cardigan - lovely, although I have a thing for Boden cardigans.....

Sandalwood · 18/01/2012 17:11

I quite like that rain mac with the hydrangea pattern.
But you'd have to be the first one wearing it to be able to wear it - as with most of their clothes with the prints.
So I'll give it a miss.

gregssausageroll · 18/01/2012 18:08

The trousers are delayed

4aminsomniac · 18/01/2012 18:16

Have received skinny jeans, cropped capris in grey/white stripe and textured jumper. Expected to send all of it back on previous experience, but I an keeping it all! The jeans are particularly good, I seen to be a difficult shape for a lot of brand, may order another color!

hattymattie · 18/01/2012 18:32

I got the merino bell sleeve cardigan - I think the quality is good but I am square shouldered and the empire line didn't suit made me look busty (only b cup) and frumpy. I found the neckline a higher than I thought from the picture. I got plain scoop neck t shirt in lilac - very nice plus stripy breton short sleeve tee shirt again neckline very high - didn't suit - gave it to my daughter who is slim shouldered - much nicer.

AllTalkNo · 18/01/2012 19:44

I ordered a few things from the Preview and will be keeping the Wrap Jersey Top (clingy but not too low cut, which I liked very much), the Tie Cardigan (nice fine merino), and the Old Gold (pewtery) Messenger (which is quite a deep bag but the metallic colour goes with almost anything and I thought I'd get a lot of use out of it this Spring).

scarlet76 · 18/01/2012 19:52

ooh Alltalkno please tell me more about the old gold messenger bag. It is on my pay day list. I am off to Rome for the weekend with the girls at the end of Feb and have high hopes for this bag. Is is very large? Is the old gold a nice colour? What is the lining like? Is it worth the price with a 20% discount code I have?
I also have my eye on the stripe mariner sweater - is it very thick though?? I would like a fine knit for spring.
I also like the breton top, the boyfriend cardigan in natural, the navy or leopard print clog type shoes...
For DD I have ordered the leggings which are always a good buy and the red stripe breton. She also likes the T-shirt dress with the bunny on so may go back for that.
For DS, I have got the red sweatshirt with a skull on and the blue stripe shirt.
Where are the reviews??

ameliagrey · 18/01/2012 19:59

Queen the cardi is okay- nothing to get excited over. Quality is fine but it does have a smooth, lycra/stretchy feel rather than a soft fluffy cotton feel IYSWIM.

I got 20% otherwise would not have kept.

I am hoping to get to a Boden party in 2-3 weeks and want to try on some jeans- cropped- as they tend to be hit and miss.

higgle · 18/01/2012 21:06

Nothing much at all, instead I have ordered myself a nice bright stripey top and short denim skirt from Joules here Maybe I'm just feeling rebelious but their things look much nicer this season

HelenofSparta · 18/01/2012 21:22

Navy mac with hydranga pattern on for me. Ordered in two sizes and still have both as cannot make up my mind as to whether will want to wear jumper underneath or save it just for summer showers.....hmmmm
Love it though. It'll be obvious it is Boden, but don't mind :-)
Like a few dresses, but can't justify the prices at the mo. Another £15 voucher please Johnnie!!

AllTalkNo · 18/01/2012 21:23

Hi Scarlet76, I'm really pleased with the messenger bag, it is a gold shade of Pewter but not too yellowy so would go with anything except perhaps bright silver shoes / jewellery. The lining is blue cotton with large navy spots. It is quite large, deeper than your typical satchel, which is fine with me as it can carry my filofax, large purse, sunglasses etc etc. Useful for your trip to Rome! There is a front pocket underneath the front flap which is good for easy access stuff like phone/travelcard. I've been looking for a Boden pewter bag for a couple of seasons now and I'm glad I took the plunge on this one.

polyhymnia · 18/01/2012 23:18

That's interesting feedback on the messenger bag. The separate front pocket is certainly a good feature, specially for us tube travelllers.

Like the look of the pewter one as a holiday bag but didn't think it would be deep/ wide enough to carry all my clutter. Can you get all those things in and get them out again easily? I find it difficult locating things and retrieving them quickly if they're too tightly packed. But perhaps I just overload my bags!

CointreauVersial · 18/01/2012 23:49

I am poised to order the Must Have jumper in Quail Egg and the Photographer Jacket in Slate; also very tempted by the Cricket Jumper, but don't think I have anything to wear with it. Anyone have any of those??

I never order Boden shoes, as they are far too narrow.

gregssausageroll · 19/01/2012 08:53

I should get the cricket jumper tomorrow. I have ordered both navt and cream. I hope to wear it with both wide leg trousers and pumps and jeans and converse so I hope it will be versatile. Will report back.

hattymattie · 19/01/2012 09:41

mariner jumper anybody?
