After a crummy couple of years I have to say I like a lot of the new collection. I have no idea as to the quality and whether that has improved. I am still waiting to see the reviews before I order.

So far I like- the Jersey Maxi Dress in three colourways.
The tan leather bag
Tan ballet pumps with the square toe
Cropped cashmere cardigans
Breton top
Tie front cardigans.
Maxi skirt
Casual jersey dress in navy.

I like the idea of the mariner jumper but the neckline is to high. I like a slash.
The jewellery isn't tempting me either.

So what are you tempted by?
Are you equally struck this time around?

The trying on can be half the fun ...

Northernlurker · 24/01/2012 16:22

The reviews are up now.

ameliagrey · 24/01/2012 22:39

Anyone got any strong feeling about the Photographer jacket in grey versus the Deauville jacket in grey?

Got the Deauville- but not sure about the collar- bit big and I'd need to shorten the sleeves.

Photographer jacket- is the white stitching a bit OTT?

ameliagrey · 24/01/2012 22:39

ps- both to be worn with jeans and cropped jeans etc- not dresses.

polyhymnia · 24/01/2012 23:33

northernlurker on reviews, seems several people actually liked the weekend tunic - no accounting for tastes, I guess!

ellangirl · 25/01/2012 09:08

Boden is not made for women with norks and waists grump grump grump!
Must have jumper is no good at all- totally square and boxy. Merino Henley is ok, but thinner than I'd like- I'd have to wear a cami under which is not what I wanted. On the plus side, I just saved loads of money by sending them back!

Sonotkylie · 25/01/2012 11:00

I have both to ridiculous degree and the casual jersey dress and wrap top look great on me. And the shoes ...! But generally I agree you have to be pretty ruthless. I think they favour the tall, flat chested English aristo look. Oh the artisan top which is a shape I would normally avoid looks good too. Not sure why.

MrsDollyLevi · 25/01/2012 11:37

Anyone got the Waxed Biker Jacket?

margoandjerry · 25/01/2012 11:55

cointreauversial yes I bought the must have jumper but sent it back. Weirdly baggy at the waist. I bought a 14 and really I am a 16 so I thought it would be ok but even at one size smaller than my normal the waist is odd and baggy. It went back.

I have also ordered the yellow bag - 3 weeks wait but I am quietly confident I will love it Grin

Didn't love the collection - too many slightly mumsy jersey dresses (and I am more than slightly mumsy myself so there must have been too many for even me to say that). Also stop doing tops and cardis with annoying cheap looking embellishments on them, Johnny. Leave that to Per Una. They obviously bought a job lot of sequins and beady things in 2008 and have sewn them onto every bog standard t shirt since then but still have a box left in the warehouse to get rid of.

ameliagrey · 25/01/2012 11:56

Yes! Got the Biker jacket last season in brown and love it.

The only problem which came up in the reviews then was that there were not enough belt loops- just one on each side- and as the belt is long with a heavy buckle it tends to flap about a bit- I either tie it behind, or tie in front even if I don't zip the jacket up.

I bought an 8- inbetween 8 and 10. it's a snug fit but okay.

Only issue with the waxy finish is that any marks such as foundation, or anything on your hands does leave a mark and it can't be washed.

wallpaperjo · 25/01/2012 11:58

I'm loving the weekend dress - perfect for all occasions.

Thanks ameliagray

I presume you have the lovely quilted one from the Autumn/Winter range? I so wanted but, sale sizes are 8 and 18!

The spring one is not quilted but, even so, looks nice.

CointreauVersial · 25/01/2012 12:45

Ameliagrey - the stitching on the Photographer jacket is definitely noticeable, and makes it more denim-jacket-type casual. It is also the same sort of canvasy material, but lines, so it holds its shape.

I liked the Deauville jacket too, but it looked a bit more smart. And looks shorter too.

LadyWord · 25/01/2012 13:29

Thing is I'm tall and flat-chested but I can't wear Boden tops - they're too short in the waist and arms. I can however wear the Johnnie B teenagers' tops (size XL!), because teenagers like long tops with long sleeves apparently. Daft!

ameliagrey · 25/01/2012 13:50

Dolly yes it is quilted- I didn't appreciate that the summer one was not padded. having said that the padding is quite thin.

ameliagrey · 25/01/2012 13:51

Cointreau thanks for that info.

I have a jacket from Esprit which is simialr but not lined so thought the Photo. one looked a bit warmer and smarter, but I am still deciding whether to keep the Deauville - the other size is due to arrive today so i will see then!

Northernlurker · 25/01/2012 20:00

Polyhymnia - I saw that but I also saw some stinking reviews too! I think the positives are from Boden staff! Grin

fishie · 25/01/2012 21:37

i've got a waxed jacket from a couple of years ago, i have rewaxed as one would a barbour, no problem. Was a bargain. Really wish I'd got the parka from last winter as well mine is not warm enough.
