Carciofi, lovely photo of DD2, thanks for sharing Smile.

NY, your outfit today sounds sooo glam and purple is such a good colour on you - I am sure you have many secret admirers.

Fritzi, I'm glad that you and DH had a great evening out together, 4am Shock. It's DH's Christmas dinner with his new colleagues on Thursday evening and I'm going too but with my interview the next day, I hope I won't be rolling home at 4am.

Fritzi what fun. 4am! I wish I had stayed another half an hour. 4am sounds so much more impressive than 3.30am Grin

Carciofi that is hilarious! What a bad Santa. Very cute pic of your little dd.

Pickled huge amounts of good luck for your interview on Friday. I'm sure you will ace it.

Bloss your planned outfit sounds fantastic.

NY glam outfit indeed! It is cold today.

lol Amber re gilet, quite.

Red did you get the jbrands?

Anniemac so glad you decided to keep the Joie boots, they are lovely.

I am enjoying not having to put together some work stuff and being able to relax. I think they want more this week but it's a bit of a strain, nice to get paid obviously!

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2011 10:10

Sprogger hi, that's a lovely jacket. yy to perfect cigarette slim trousers. (isn't trouser a funny word?, pant sounds wrong too.)

FritziGreenEyes · 05/12/2011 10:17

sprog Have you tried Zara for cig. trousers?

pickled So exciting about your interview! If everything goes well, you can go out afterwards with your DH and celebrate Smile

Fritzi, on my third cup already! Wow, 4am, respect!

NY, your outfit sounds lovely.

Vin, good luck with the medical studies. We looked at Clapham, off the Northcote road before we moved here. There is a good school there, Belleville.

Pickled, good luck on Friday.

Sprogger, yes, her accent was a blend of Irish, English and American (we're not American but lived there for a long time so probably have remnants of an American accent ourselves) but since starting nursery school her accent is totally English. However, some friends here say she sounds Irish but she doesn't to me or my family. She tells me I'm a divileen (my dad calls her that) which sounds so funny coming from her!

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2011 10:41

yy the production quality of the blog is very high. The shots are amazing. She often looks better than the model on the site showing the same thing.

I have a different accent to my parents. And my children to me. My parents and children both have the same however. Which is a neat circle.

Birthday excitement continues apace, 2 NAP boxes have turned up for DH this morning! And still 2 whole weeks until I can see what's in them!

Have spent all morning on bloody bastard photobox ordering Christmas cards and calendars and the like, with a toddler clambering over me and tugging on my arm and a baby at my breast. Was ready to kill someone by end of it.

Carciofi dirty old Santa, is that all part of the service at Harrods? Sympathies re. the cough, we are having similar issues.

sprogger lovely jacket, good luck on trouser hunt!

I find it fascinating. Since we have so many accents in our extended family, very British, French, American and then us, that it is amazing to see how strong the non-accent based cultural connections are.

I think I read a study that accent is first thing to change so children are like their peers, but values are more like their parents. It can be odd though, as obviously accent is a strong signpost to others.

redllamayellowllama · 05/12/2011 13:40

Afternoon all.

Amber am very excited on your behalf!

Sounds like a fantastic evening Fritzi - I need a good dance somewhere.

Lovely jacket Sprogger, can see how it would get a lot of wear.

Carciofi Santa sounds outrageous!

I ordered the Gap trousers on a whim and they looked awful on me - the 8 fitted well, but those hip pockets are just a no-no for me - my legs are already short in proportion to the rest of my body and they made them look a whole lot worse. Should have learnt from my dalliance with Agnes.

Lots of different accents here - My Mum is constantly bemoaning my slightly SE-London accent in contrast to her SA one (well why did you bring us up here then?!). Kind of get it now though as I work industriously to avoid DS picking up any hint of West Country.

No J Brands yet - just waiting for a sale or two to finish on Ebay, in order for it not to count as spending Wink.

I still love 5050s. Just so you all know.

Are people waiting till a bit later to post their SS pressies?

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2011 13:54

I am going to send my SS soon, I have it here. I just want to check one more shop first.

Red perhaps dancing on 17th. I am very excited that Anniemac and Sprogger will/might be joining us too. NJC are you free, Blue are you in London? We just need to decide where to go at some point.

redllamayellowllama · 05/12/2011 14:24

Sorry NJC Blush.

But could I make a tiny, pre-emptive request? That there are no updates on presents being sent but that there are updates when someone receives their present?

dolceebanana · 05/12/2011 14:29

Am 5 Hours into steaming my Christmas Pud...mmm...lovely christmassy smells wafting around the kitchen. Rather hectic week: Christmas fayre, DS starting football and riugby (he's 5), and birthday parties. Busy, busy...we've put in our plans to Cotswold CC on the house, and bought some land. Hey ho! I am also decorating the house for christmas by stealth...less is more, I feel. I like to do the twinkly bits, okay acres of fairy lights...then we get the actual tree a week before. Littlest DD saw Father Christmas in his grotto, and was sweetness itself, 'Hello, Faver Christmas, I been good gal...'!!!!!

Bloss - I am searching obsessively for all things plum too. Love it!
Have been a hat wearing...it's sooo cold.

blue2711 · 05/12/2011 15:15

Hello! Back from Scotland. Pretty hairy drive through hail and snow last night. DS angelic thankfully; I think he was worn out from all the swimming DH got him doing. I sat on the side and watched mostly; felt a bit shy in my bikini with the bump! icey, don't be jealous: the gilet will most definitely be a squeeze at the moment but baby due very beginning of Feb so I'm on countdown! Probably being overly optimistic but last time too much weight dropped off almost immediately ( I think it was the shock of life with a newborn!) so this time I'm actually hoping for a bit to remain. People keep saying to me how 'much better' I look at the moment which actually is an insult isn't it?! Like saying that I normally look horrid! Oh well.

Like all your baby names, icey and wan. I'm a bit nervous on 2 counts. Firstly DH insists it's his turn as I got my absolute favourite name for DS (whch he finally agreed to in labour too!). But he has quite an outlandish taste in names... And secondly we were told it was almost definitely a girl this time and I've decorated and stockpiled clothes accordingly (love being organised) but now I keep thinking what if they were wrong?? The nursery is so beautiful with floral and candy stripes from Cath Kidston that I think I'll just tie a bow on him and tell everyone he's a she!!

amber, my love for your style continues. Good purchase on the J brands. Are they the flared cord ones from the fur vest video? Gorgeous. I have found the missioni dress in eBay v cheap in my size.... Should I go for it? I must admit I have even been thinking of leather shorts... but only as very cheap 'try them out' purchase and only with opaques. Although my legs are thin they are also sadly white and scarred.

Talking of trying things out, thanks for the thoughts re. the cream roxy. Was disappointed by the no's. but on reflection you're all right and actually I'm not sure I can quite carry off a biker with conviction, like bloss so obviously does. Love that black dress / roxy / shoeboot outfit. Think I'm going to buy a cheap TS alternative or equivalent when I find one and see how it works.

sprogger, hello! Jealous of your height and ability to wear maxis. That colour is gorgeous.

amber, I'm getting excited about your birthday present pile now! What a nice DH.

red, sorry about the gap trousers. I still plan to try them this week, although think have missed out on 30% off now. I still want the 50/50s too, although impressed by the alternatives found.

marsha, I'm up in Nottingham so no to a meet up at this point, sadly. Hopefully one day, although I can't even imagine how I'd be able to decide on an outfit..

Just lost my post grrh.......!
Hi everyone, we had a great weekend in Paris and it was lovely to all be together again.
Very little to report on a W&A front, although we spent a couple of hours in the retail oulet Village at Val d'Europe yesterday, could definitely recommend it for next W&A Mu! Every brand you could want from Sandro to Aigle to Valentino to Bonpoint! It was interesting to see how DD2 has moved on from Juicy and Jack Wills to Moncler and Zadig &Voltaire!
Just got some great W&A news, I have won a Balenciaga hand bag in a raffle!!!! Grin

notyummy · 05/12/2011 16:49

Now on train back from London. So glad you had a good time in Paris Portia. It sounded fab. Glad you got back safe Blue. I grew up in Scotland, and went to Glasgow Uni (then Strathclyde for my PGCE.) I try and get up there around 3 times a year and I love it. Really miss my friends. Would love to move back with the family but that is a long term dream.

Thanks for 'secret admirer' compliment Pickled- they are obviously keeping themselves under wraps, unless you count the slightly odd starters on the Tube Grin DH complimentary though- he noticed that the model on the cover of Top Sante mag was wearing 'my' sparkly gold dress from Warehouse and told me I looked better than her. Bless! Live is blind, eh?!

Wow portia. I love Balenciaga handbags. The Lariat that was all the rage about 10 years ago, I had a very good R&B copy. Loved it.

Girls, I'm afraid the Whistles dress/outfit combo is a no no. It is incredibly short. I would wear it out with you lot, but not out with governors round here. So disappointed. Have found a shortish black sleeveless dress with a similar twist detail at neck, and a zip down the back, I bought in M&S Limited in the summer. I'll wear that instead. The neckline is too high on it really and if feels like it's strangling me. So disappointed. When is next MU?
