New one!

Sounds stressful roary, sometimes we just get to a 'enough is enough' point. Hope that you get some R&R on holiday though.

marsha very funny, a 2 foot cake! No just a number '2' tin, chocolate sponge with white chocolate icing on the top and decorated with chocolate buttons. It will look very home made I suspect.

That IO skirt is stunning bloss. When are you going out. Do you have time to find an alternative?

The DP is really pretty fritzi. It was me who said I plan on wearing Wendy's holiday pairings night time outfit on my birthday next year. Although her sequin skirt does seem to look more white than gold.

I love Wendy's rose accessories too, especially the Marc Jacobs scarf that has rose coloured polka dots.

blue2711 · 13/12/2011 15:33

Hope you're having a lovely birthday ollie. Any excitingly stylish presents to report?

Glad you've got 3 more weeks off ahead wan. Do take it easy. I've been breathless and on iron for months now and it's not nice.

red and amber your outfits today sound divine! Can hardly bear the joy of both roxy and 50 50s at once! Great colour combintions.

Thanks for the Current ELliott info carciofi. You've just saved me some money as was about to purchase the grey leopard print in the 25 off ebay but sounds like I should wait till some 24s come along as am usually a 24 in j brands. It's not like I'm in any rush really - we're talking at least March before I can even wear them but patience is not one of my few virtues! Optimism, however, clearly is; I'm still happily assuming that the baby weight will just instantly disappear! Please feel free to remind me of this and laugh in a few months...

Speaking of merrily planning a spring wardrobe I probably won't be able to wear, I bought the bright pink skinny j brands last night with a pleasing £82 off. Also ordered the dark grey gap trousers of Wendy's with the zips at the ankles. I think these will probably look awful on me (not that I'll really be able to try them properly!) but I just had to scratch that itch! wan that choice of word is just perfect for that feeling of just having to have something right away!

I also ordered this denim dress for next year. I have wanted one for a few years and thought it was worth a try. Love light denim with tan belt and sandals in the summer.

My splurge of spending was instigated by the news at 10pm last night that DH had had a car crash. He's ok but the car is quite badly damaged on both sides and he apparently spun several times on the motorway. He was very calm but I felt quite shaken and started buying while I waited up for him to distract myself from thoughts of what could have been. Counting my blessings today.

blue2711 · 13/12/2011 16:17

Some cross posts. Your birthday ring sounds lovely, ollie. Link? My DH probably feels the same about my bags but I've trained him not to comment!

Love the sequin skirts. There's a j crew one on eBay I'm wondering about... Anyone else seen any cheaper ones about?

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 16:19

Oh your poor dh! And you Blue. Very scary. I'm glad he is ok.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 16:22

I also really like the denim dress and that you bought the jbrands.

WAN your cake sounds lovely. I cut many corners when it comes to cakes (not ingredients, but they tend to be round and chocolate with yummy stuff stuck on). As is probably obvious as I didn't get the 2 reference Grin.

Portia4 · 13/12/2011 17:24

Have had the rare pleasure of spending the afternoon at home with DD3, she has slept for most of it, I have eaten almost an entire French stick with butter, I would be the size of a house if I did this regularly! I 've managed to sort out our skiwear for next week, which needed to be done, ad we are now watching Love Actually, every now and then she goes "inappropriate" and covers her eyes!
Dsis got a sequinned skirt in Mango, it's really nice with lots of different shaped sequins in rows.
Best of luck with the baking Marsha lol at the tins!
Glad that your doctor was nice and sympathetic Wan.

pickledsiblings · 13/12/2011 17:48

Ollie, big Happy Birthday to you! Your outfit today sounds lovely Smile. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Blue, H&M have a nice pull on sequin skirt that might be worth a look although I'm not quite sure how it would work with a bump Grin.

Roary, hope you have a great holiday - your head must be in a total spin with it all. I've just remembered your story of when you got stuck in London with DD for the day and what a lovely time you had together Smile.

Portia, I've forgotten how old your DD3 is. She sounds like great company.

Fritzi, I have just ordered loads of skirts and tops from HofF in the hope of some of them fitting. Will link for advice when they arrive.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 18:36

bloss Could this work?

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 18:49

For those of you with shredded phyisques: Love this dress but think it is very unforgiving. Has anyone ever tried one on?

rufus101 · 13/12/2011 18:49

Blue that is scary stuff indeed. Not surprised you distracted yourself. Frights like that always put things into perspective.
DD does sound like great company Portia! Would love a cosy afternoon like that. What did you ask DH for?
In fact what are people hoping the bearded one will bring?
Roary I totally empathise with you. As someone else said, sometimes, enough is enough, and it just takes something trivial to send you over the edge, when you have been stoic for so long.
LOL at Marsha and the 2 foot high cake! Now, that would be a sight he would remember.
Ignore DH Ollie, men do not "get" bags. Your ring sounds lovely BTW.
How do you always "find" such finds in your wardrobe NY? I know every bit of mine, and I'd never find anything useful in it that I did not already know about.
Carciofi am Shock with the missing cheque. At least they won't be able to cash it. Report it in case they do. Horrible people. I am also Shock that someone actually took your mum's Chanel bag from you. They should have known you were too upset. Talk about taking advantage. I'd ask for it back! Are you game?!Are you going to be coming home at Christmas time?
In the end I didn't buy the VB dress, got stuck watching tv, and lost the impetus. If it's there in the sale, I might take the plunge. I have a VB dress, which is very fitted and it's a 2, and I thought 1, not zero was the smallest, so when I started a further dither about the size to pick, it just wasn't going to happen.
I Blush opened my SS straight away. Not one for deferred gratification clearly. But, I really love it. It's very me! And that is all I will say till the big reveal Wink

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 18:53

sorry... physiques... if it is even a real English word. Maybe I'm just making it up. My excuse Wine for dinner

blossoming · 13/12/2011 18:57

Oh my goodness blue, how frightening for you and your DH. Glad he wasn't hurt.

fritzi, that is lovely, thanks. I was going to link this one. But thought it was maybe too flash and too short. I am going to the governors' dinner. Just us, in a small place in the country, and no dancing, music, anything. So really I could go in my WC jumper! I have nativity on Sunday morning I need to be outfitted for, dad's b'day before Christmas, and Christmas day, and Boxing day (dreaded IL's). And nothing to wear. At. All.
But have persuaded DH that Saturday day out is still on. My mum will take DS to his party. So I shall wear the Roxy with abandon!
So governors dinner. I want to wear shoeboots and roxy. But need another layer or 2 Wink.

blossoming · 13/12/2011 19:02

Now I've x-posted!
rufus, that dress, I had issues with the sleeves when I looked at it last night. I always have issues with sleeves. Every bloody thing I own apart from the Roxy and the Pure jacket and the Aigle, have sleeves that are too short. But anyway, as you didn't buy it..I digress.
It must have been a very difficult time for you all carciofi. I got rid of all of DC2's things too.

blossoming · 13/12/2011 19:22

Okay, I've bought this. To arrive Friday. Has good reviews and is cheap. Could be too small, although they do say to size down. We'll see. Could wear it with the Whistles slinky MU top tucked in.

IceCreamCastles · 13/12/2011 20:01

What a bargain bloss!

Think my Ss present is waiting at the post office. I'm very excited!

Apparently dh has got my present now- am a little dubious as he didn't show much interest in any of my suggestions!

I am pondering the puzzle of how to assemble and position the poang without him finding out. Hiding it in garage is risky as he goes in there quite a lot so I can only think i'll have to do it once he's asleep. There will be a lot of assembly going on as we have dd's playhouse to do too!

How horrible blue- must have been very scary for your dh and a big shock for you. Hope you both have a relaxing evening.

Bit of a worry going on here as well. Dh's uncle (only early 50s) has been taken very ill and they've considered it serious enough to call his son (Dh's cousin) back from afghanistan. Doesn't look very good Sad

Marsha, I was laughing about the 2 ft cake earlier. Although when I first skimmed through the messages I thought you thought WAN was baking a 'number two' for her ds which was even funnier. Sorry to lower the tone.

If anyone is interested modalu has half price sale on at the moment. Free delivery and returns. Got my friend a nice purse to match her bag for Christmas. Worth a look.

rufus101 · 13/12/2011 20:24

Has anyone done this Santa video for their DC? The look on their faces is priceless!

carciofi · 13/12/2011 20:24

ICC, hope your DH's uncle pulls through.

Ollie, enjoy the tapas. I am still tempted by the Alexa bag as well. The boots arrived so I wore them out this afternoon. Very comfortable even though I rarely wear heel in the day and looks good with skinny jeans (I think!). I will have to hide them from DH for a while.

NY, your party food is making me hungry. You are the hostess with the mostess.

Wan, I think you deserve the OTK boots. The 2 cake sounds cool.

Portia, your DD3 sounds very cute. How old is she?

I asked DH to phone his dad to cancel the cheque. Someone stole a cheque his aunt posted to DD1 last Christmas too.

Blue, scary about your DH, glad he is ok. I bought a lot of clothes for after when I was pregnant too. Most of them worked out.

You will look lovely, Bloss.

Rufus, I think it may have ended up in a charity shop! I only wanted a few things that reminded me of her, her old sunglasses, a scarf she liked and things like that. We are staying in London but I will book you for a night out next time I am back. Wine

I moved the baby into share DD1's room yesterday, last night went well but she has woken DD2 up already this evening by kissing her. Luckily she is so good tempered that she smiled and started sucking her thumb I told DD1 to get back into bed and she said "but we are friends and I love her". It is hard to be cross!

rufus101 · 13/12/2011 20:33

Great skirt Bloss, you will rock that. Will you wear the Roxy as well?!
Carciofi can you imagine that charity shop find? You just wouldn't believe it.
Will await that next Wine Long may that sibling relationship last! My lot are currently running riot. The threat of me emailing Santa is the only thing that keeps them in check currently!
Icey hope DH's uncle will be ok. Far, far, too young to be seriously ill.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 20:54

roary Missed your post earlier. Think you deserve to unwrap your Secret Santa immediately!

ollie Your birthday outfit, present and tapas sound perfect! Hope you had a great day.

carciofi Aww, your DD1 is soooo cute! How terrible about the cheque though. My gran always used to send cash and luckily it got never stolen.

marsha I stroked a Proenza Schouler yesterday. But they are so £££ Shock.

njc But the car parks at IKEA are huge. Couldn't you just park at one end very it is not so busy.

wan Glad to hear you are resting up now! We'll find you the perfect birthday outfit for next year Wink.

blue Accidents are horrible... Hope you'll recover from your shock soon.

portia Hope DD3 will be better soon!

pickled Looking forward to your links from HoF haul Smile.

bloss Fingers crossed the sequin skirt will be great.

icey Awful news about your DH's uncle Sad.

blossoming · 13/12/2011 21:23

That is so cute carciofi. I've only had ds and dd sharing a room once and it was carnage! When we stayed in London in the summer. I can still here ds going, 'but I want some peace and quiet'!

Hope things aren't as bad as they seem icey.

I'm hoping the skirt will be great too rufus. I'll be wearing the roxy, the r&b sky high shoe boots and the bobbi brown party palette. And it seems we are getting taxis this time. I was all set to drive as the policewoman drove last time, and she lives not far, as does the lady from the bank. Highly respectable company I'm keeping, I'm sure you'll agree!

Some devil in me wishes I was going on the teacher's pub crawl on Thursday night. Can you imagine the state they'll be in next day? They're going round the villages in a mini bus. My sister has tried to twist my arm. Really. Those days are long gone (see previous paragraph!) I need a prim and proper emoticon!

notyummy · 13/12/2011 21:27

Carciofi - how cute of your dds!

Bloss - love the skirt. Def worth a punt.

Blue - sorry to hear about your DHs accident, but glad he is ok.

Icey - We have done that for DD but not shown it to her yet. Sorry to hear about your DH's uncle.

Roary - it is unsurprising that things are getting on top of you after such a huge unheaval. You have done brilliantly.

Narrowed outfit choice for DHs function down to two. Told him about them over the phone and he said 'Whatever is the more conservative of the two, then that's the one.' Hmm

OP posts:
OllieinOrange · 13/12/2011 21:40

Off to bed now but Bloss how did we all miss the navy sequin skirt??? I would have loved one like that.
Blue sorry to hear about DHs accident. Such things are always such a shock.

Tapas was a big hit - DSs loved it too. Drank a little bit too much cava there tho (hiccup).

Classic DH story - he popped out "to get a lightbulb" late afternoon. Thought he was going to get me some flowers (amazing florists very close by etc) but no, he really did just get a lightbulb..... honestly, what's a girl to do....!
