Happy birthday Ollie, ' hope that you have a great daySmile
Have been up all night with DD3 who has a tummy bug, I have an important work related meeting with the bank this morning, so I now need to organise child care hmm...
Wan Do take it easy.
Rufus For the first time I have told DH exactly what I would like ( after seeing that that's what most the thread do!) I totally get being disappointed and wondering how much thought went into the gift.
Have just realised that it's snowing!

notyummy · 13/12/2011 08:12

Morning all.

Hope you have a great birthday Ollie!

Sory to hear about DD3 sickness Portia - always stressful when you are trying to juggle work/being professional at the same time - whilst feeling guilty about a sick child.

WAN - it sounds like you still need to be resting as much as you possibly can. Are your iron levels ok? Just the fainting/dizziness can be related (which you will obviously know, being far more medically qualified than me Grin.) Sorry - being a mother hen!

Agree with the online opening. Have to make sure everyone has got their's though - not sure if everyone will by Sunday? Maybe slightly later, although I can see finding a time from about the 22nd onwards may prove a challenge!!

DD is absolutely knackered from school and festivities. She is keeping going because it is all so exciting, but getting up later and later in the morning and looking so baggy eyed. She is always asleep by 8pm latest (she is 5.5) but not waking until 7 45 in the morning. She saw santa at school yesterday (and told him she wants some vests 'He said that was very sensible present to ask for, mummy.' Smile.) Party day at school today, and she is going in arrayed in her finest dress, and still a disco and a Christmas lunch to go!

I am wearing an old suit dug out from the back of the wardobe today (2004 purchase). Grey wide legged pinstripe suit, with grey boots and bright blue silk twist top from Jigsaw - an effort to break through the winter gloom. Weather is a bit depressing at the moment isn't it? I managed to get out for a run in the sunshine yesterday whilst working from home - good that I did because it looks like relentless rain, snow and wind for the next 4/5 days. What about my blowdry on Thursday?? I will have to invest in a headscarf Hmm

Happy birthday ollie! Hope you have a wonderful day. The Cotswold place looks lovely (even if some of the company was a bit challenging)

School Christmas dinner today so have donned the obligatory 'glittery knitwear' Grin

Will try to get a vaguely flattering photo of hair to show you. Good response at work so far.

Russianred · 13/12/2011 08:39

Morning all, am packed and ready to go - weather is not looking great, but I am determined to wear my Roxy come hell or high water, so that's that. Am wearing my new blue skinnies, Fritzi's navy Vince jumper, leopard scarf, Roxy and my 50/50s. I like a lot. I have an elaborate sticker system in place and a fully charged IPad, so fingers crossed for a happy journey all round.

WAN I'm sorry you're still suffering, hope the GP is supportive today. Thank you for the kitchen compliments, it then extends the same size round the side, it's a bit of an airport hangar at the moment. My red jeans are an old pair of White Baxters that I dyed in the summer, but they had some lovely ones in Oasis yesterday.

Happy birthday Ollie! Enjoy.

NY your DD is just fab. You're probably right about everyone receiving their presents, when should we go for?!

Hope DD is feeling better soon and that you can find a solution for today Portia.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 09:23

What a great outfit Red.

Thanks so much for birthday wishes for ds2. Two does seem a big one. And agree Pickled they are really good 2-5. Birthday party is on Friday and have loads to do, cake, decorate. Have done a big Ocado order.

Happy Birthday Ollie!

Rufus I love the Vanessa Bruno dress.

WAN I hope you have a really lovely and well-deserved restful Christmas.

carciofi · 13/12/2011 09:24

Happy birthday Ollie!

Trying to cut down on browsing time and busy with the DDs/Christmas so haven't checked in for a while.

Bloss, hope you are feeling better.

Rufus, I like the VB, it would be perfect on you. I always ask for filthy lucre or vouchers!

Blue, Currentt/Elliot run a size or two big. You made me laugh with your comment about wishing you were not into expensive bags, I have said that to my husband before and he looked at me like I was crazy.

My mum had a Chanel bag and I was so upset when I was clearing out her wardrobe (my dad wanted it done straight after the funeral) that I gave it away.

Wan, sorry you are still not well and sympathies on the heartburn. It was almost worth it to me to be back in my normal clothes quickly.

Red, the boots look great on you.

Verity, I am glad you are in your new place and love the sound of your purchases.

Baby crying, back later.

AmberNectarine · 13/12/2011 10:08

Greetings from Centre Parcs! was in Frenchay y'day - must be near some of you!

Am trying to fly the W&A flag in silver reptile Hunters, black ski pants, pearl coloured Gap cashmere Short sleeved jumper, LS grey and silver glitter stroke top and my black MK scarf. Not too bad under the circs!

Had bout of food poisoning on Sunday night so nearly at target weight! not ideal way of doing it though!

Happy birthday ollie hope you have a fab day!

Have fun in London red!

hope your DD is much better soon portia

carciofi · 13/12/2011 10:31

Amber, have fun. Nice outfit and hope you are feeling ok.

Marsha, belated happy birthday to your DS2.

Just got our post (including SS gift, which I haven't opened but thank you!), my FIL had sent a cheque for the girls but someone has opened the card and taken it.

My Goldsign skinny jeans arrived, really like them and wearing them today with the White Co navy sweater. I also like the MIH Oslos so thank you, MrsCB for the recommendation. The Timberland boots still haven't arrived. I am spending no more until the sales!

carciofi · 13/12/2011 10:36

Last one from me, Annie, hope things pick up for you and your DH soon.

Pickled, congratulations!

wideawakenurse · 13/12/2011 11:41

Back from the Drs. Saw a lovely GP who was kind and sympathetic. My BP was still low, and she strictly told me to get some rest and signed me off for another three weeks. Feels good to be putting my feet up.

red your outfit sounds great today, you have really pulled together an amazing wardrobe this winter, and you sound so confident...its infectious! Hope you all have a good journey today.

carciofi, I cannot believe someone would do that. Can your FIL cancel the cheque? Will you report to the police.

Marsha busy times in the run up to the party. We have DS's 2nd this weekend too. DH is on shopping duties though! What cake are you having? I have gone for the simple version and am hiring a '2' cake tin.

portia bad timing. Hope DD is better soon, and that you get your childcare sorted out.

amber hope you are having a good time, shame about the food poisoning although every cloud and all that with the weight loss. Grin

I am itching to buy some OTK's....itching I tell you.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 13:00

WAN I'm so pleased your GP was good and kind, and you have been signed off.

What is a '2' cake tin? Is it two foot? I have no idea! Not sure what kind of cake. But I have totally mixed up the date and realised I need to do it on Sunday not Friday. Eek had to send emails to everyone. Bad, bad. I hope some don't turn up on Friday and a few on Sunday.

Oh god. It is isn't it. Grin

I just thought in the bathroom you couldn't fit a 2 foot one in the oven.

I was coming back to say 2nd? But yes 2 would be it. Grin

AmberNectarine · 13/12/2011 13:37

I think it's the number 2 marsha

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 13:42

I was just mucking around I knew it really Wink

roary · 13/12/2011 13:53

Just stopping by to say that i must have a very clever and organized Santa as my package arrived all the way to Australia yesterday! I won't be around for any mass opening as we are going on holiday(which feels very peculiar, seeing as we just got here) with my parents who arrive tomorrow...

We are all doing well, I had a bit of a meltdown trying to sign up for medicare last week, it was about the 4000th ridiculous encounter with red tape I've had in the past 6 weeks and I couldn't cope anymore. Felt v embarrassed as I hate crying in public and totally freaked the DCs out, not sure they've ever seen me cry (proper heaving crying, felt totally silly). They both started to cry and I'm sure everyone there thought we'd been handed a disastrous piece of news rather than just that I needed to come back again. Granted, I had just walked/taken the train through the city centre with a 1 year old, a 3 year old, and no pushchair because DH drove off with it in the car....

WAN, hope you are feeling OK! Take it easy. Happy birthday to Ollie and MIniMarsha. Belated job congrats to Pickled and wise and avid love to you all!

PS: i may crack and open my santa early.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 14:04

Roary lovely to hear from you! How annoying regarding all red tape. And no pram, I can imagine there was a lot of cajoling and carrying. I don't blame you for the tears.

your ps. made me Smile.

dolceebanana · 13/12/2011 14:25

Hello peeps!
Am feeling quite relieved as now have all presents...and am going to start wrapping early. I do love the wrapping bit but like to do it nicely, and end up grumpily rushing it. More speed, less haste I think.
I have done the classic thing of buying the DCs stuff and picking up stocking fillers here and there (and everywhere) and they do have rather alot! Hmm....
Ooh I'd love a Chanel 2.55 too mrscb...worth it, definitely. We've got the Nativity tonight and we are so looking forward to it...shall no doubt have a few tears...oh, horrible thunder and lightning...what peculiar weather.
DD had Ballet show on Sunday...was so cute....

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 14:28

The builders are here today to do some plastering. Escaped to IKEA earlier and got some last Christmas bits. They are finished now and are hoovering the whole house so "there won't be any mess". Lovely!

blossoming · 13/12/2011 14:31

Oh roary, you poor thing. Always very embarrassing these public meltdowns! Have a nice holiday though. Anywhere nice? (Looks out of the window at driving hail)
Good to see you carciofi. I am also wearing WC top. Really love it. Terrible about the cheque.

I have realised I have nothing to wear. I want the IO sequin skirt to be worn a la model with black silk blouse unbuttoned. Stamps foot. (Sold out).

Happy birthday ollie. Is it the big one?

Hope you have a nice rest wan, and you have good trips away red and amber. Do we have a green Wink?

FritziGreenEyes · 13/12/2011 14:44

bloss The IO sequin skirt is fabulous. Maybe we can find you another one?

I know this is the wrong colour for you, but those of you who feel inspired by Wendy's sequin skirt: I think this would look great!

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2011 15:02

That's lovely Fritzi.

Carciofi I was also Shock about the cheque. I hope it works out ok, cancelled etc

I go from coveting Wendy's rose accessories, Proenza Schouler rose, to the Balenciaga black. Everything looks so good, trouble indeed.

OllieinOrange · 13/12/2011 15:21

Hello everyone. Thanks for your birthday wishes, Im trying to embrace the whole "I'm 40" thing! I finally got over the whole mortifying experience of the Kew skirt thing and wore it today with navy opaques, black biker boots, navy crew neck jumper and a cable knit grey scarf. DH approved very much.

Spent the nice day with DH who brought me the ring I'd seen a while back (sounds v strange but has a cluster of 3 different sized pearls sitting on 3 silver discs). Had a brown Alexa in my hands only for DH to scoff saying it looked no different than my Boden one Shock and over-priced Hmm. Wondered if he was bluffing but alas no.

Just about to make cupcakes with the boys and then we are all going out for an early dinner at a tapas restaurant, followed by bubbles and a few Mad Men! Having special dinner out on Saturday.

OllieinOrange · 13/12/2011 15:22

Love that skirt Fritzi.

Carciofi hope the boots turn up soon, I was looking foward to some feedback - they are in and out of my basket! Loved your Dutch message on FB too! Heel goed!
