A north face duvet type.

I love it so much I well up thinking about it.

I cannot justify £220 for it though.

I am very sad.

Which coat are you talking about Moon mother? the original north face one?

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 19:20

Back from coat sourcing.

No joy. Didn't have the right size phew

Traumatic experience in Tesco though. Some poor kid puked all over the place just in front of Puke-Phobic DD2 who freaked out completely and had to be coaxed out a corner and I forgot to buy a bottle of BaileysSad Poor DD2. She is now a quivvering wreck scrubbing herself in the shower.

dearprudence · 20/10/2011 19:49

Your poor DD, Zombies. My DS is puke-phobic too, so I can imagine the trauma.

FWIW I think the original north face coat isn't worth the money unless the fabric is significantly nicer than the Trespass Ladna one. Otherwise, the TL looks much more flattering.

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 19:55

SO.... this here trespass one. should i?

OP posts:
KateBecksInAle · 20/10/2011 20:10

I have the North Face coat and it's brilliant. I've never felt cold. I think you should just get it. It'll last years and so is worth the money.

Oh, and sorry re the Baileys. Have a large glass of Wine instead.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/10/2011 20:17

Get the North Face, for heaven's sake! You live in Northern England, I wouldn't be able to survive without a coat like that. It is not the North Pole, but it's not even that far away... It'll last you at least 5 yrs.

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 21:28

Um. I don't live oop north. but am a softy southerner who can't abide coldness. Comes of being a Leo I think.

It's noo good. I need the north face one. It fitted me. It felt nice.

will wait for payday and get it.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 20/10/2011 21:36

Whoops sorry, I thought you did!

But I am a softy too, I loathe being cold and my ability to survive winters worsens every year! I too am considering a NF!

LynetteScavo · 20/10/2011 21:41

It's hardly a fashion statement, it's a survival necessity.

I bought a similar coat last year. No regrets. It will last a few years, so really not that extravagant when you work it out.

iarebaboon · 20/10/2011 21:41

How peculiar I bought that north face coat but returned it in favour of the landsend one. £100 cheaper and I actually preferred it

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 21:42

I highly recommend a large, hooded cardi.

DH may never find me attractive again but for now, at least, I am warm-ish. and not blue.

OP posts:
ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 21:43

Did you try on the landsend one?

i need the NF one because I have tried it on and it fits nice.

OP posts:
iarebaboon · 20/10/2011 21:47

this one and there was a code so it was even cheaper

It's nicer than nf honest

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 21:48

really?? looks boxy. like a volvo.

OP posts:
iarebaboon · 20/10/2011 21:58

Better fit than nf, also ordered a karrimor here.

I did a fashion show with post it notes over the logos and DP chose the cheapy karrimor as nicest looking

I deeply wanted to keep the north face, cos I'm a sucker for a name. Hut the fact of the matter was that the lands end one looked best and now I can buy boots too

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 22:03

hmmmmmmmm

you almost have me convinced.

almost.

maybe.

i do need boots. my cons are not exactly waterproof. or wram

OP posts:
ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 22:06

the shortlist

North Face. I am in love. and I want the purple one.

trespass - ok but scary hairy hood

Lands end - boxy but good.

OP posts:
Bohica · 20/10/2011 22:17

If you buy the NF on edon't ever wash it. DD puked on the sleeve of mine and I put it on a soft hand wash in the washing machine and the down all stuck togeather so my right arm is warmer than my left arm now. I thought the quilt pockets would stop that happening but sadly not Sad

iarebaboon · 20/10/2011 22:19

If you can't find a code to get the lands end one for £91 which is what I paid then fuckit get the nf one. It is kinda cooler (but deffo not purple. Purple is shit).

southeastastra · 20/10/2011 22:21

i would avoid all those padded coats and get a nice wool double breasted one instead, so much more flattering than those padded things.

we aren't living in alaska and wool is warm

re-thing before you pay that much £££ you can get something much nicer for the money

nbee84 · 20/10/2011 22:34

Could be worse - you could have fallen for this one Shock

Take at look at this lovely down coat Similar price to the North Face one, but much better quality, warmer and a far more flattering fit.

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 20/10/2011 22:35

OK. will ponder. (but not on a wool double breasted job - so not me darlink)

OP posts:
southeastastra · 20/10/2011 22:42

oh only just cause i bought a lovely db topshop coat lately and am a bit round Grin and it's n ice

MrsVoltar · 20/10/2011 22:46

I'd go for the Aigle one mentioned further up thread link here

Would love an Aigle coat/jacket (not a 'down' one though) but think too £££, do look worth it though and if you are looking at that sort of price anyhooo...

TuftyFinch · 20/10/2011 23:44

I'm going to shove my ha'penny in and say 'Get it!'. I think this is the one you want and the others aren't what you want. I want one too and have been searching ebay forlornly for down coats for years- so sad! I'm the other end of the size spectrum and I get really cold, I can't wear heavy coats because they give me massive backache. I got the short Uniqlo one this year and really love it-but it's really a spring/autumn/not toocold/going up a mountain under layer thing. Every year I dream of owning a lovely, snuggly ,light coat and I think the North Face one fits the bill perfectly. But unless it's reduced bu £100 it'll not be for me this year. However- you get it. Really, I think you should because I think it's hard to find a coat that isn't a 'compromise'. WRT boots- if you're a 5 (or 4for some brands) look at the kids sizes, so much cheaper. I'm sure I saw the Ugg biker ones for about £150 but can't remember where? Either ebay outlet Schuh or Javzarri-maybe?

Get the coat, it's fine. Being cold is miserable. You could always wear it indoors to save on the heating if you need more justifiers!
