We are Gunners here too, sorry BTM.

As to what stylish ladies wear to 101st Birthday parties.....well, coats mostly, as the village hall was absolutely freezing. Actually, it was a good day, pretty action-packed family-wise, but the DCs behaved like angels and the birthday girl enjoyed herself. And DH is driving us home because I had a few too many glasses of wine over dinner.

One small blemish on my day - a random elderly cousin who I haven't seen for years came up to my mum, pointed at me, and said "and this must be your sister!" Angry

Mum thought it was hilarious and milked it all afternoon.

Blackduck · 11/12/2011 08:15

Everyone is busy! I have dropped dog at inlaws. (40 mins between two junctions on M 25 on a Friday night ahhhh). Did family dinner yesterday, usually involves the non blood members of the family (me, sil and bil) bitching and was pretty much par for course Grin but good to see dp's sister (on the other side, we hope, of cancer)). Now on way home and need to pack.

bigTillyMincepie · 11/12/2011 09:19

CV, that's not the kind of comment you need - were they trying to make your mum feel young and lovely?!

BD, how exciting. My NDN's are off to Mexico for ChristmasEnvy The DC are going to look after their pets!

ruby, make the most of it. I caculated that I spent 3 hours ferrying about, but not all in one go so it felt like I was a cabbie all day and I am now really enjoying a couple of hours pottering while DS and DH are at football and DD is in her room doing homework (I hope!)

Keep both - it's ChristmasSmile

I have survived yesterday, which included the concert of Music I Did Not Know Very Well, and our best second alto had lost her voice. The four of us left in the section made a rather variable fist of it Blush. We are actually capable of singing quite well but it depends, you know, on whether we manage to do so at the appropriate time. And some of that wasn't last night.

On the bright side I perved gawped at Paul McGann on the bus home. Admittedly he is looking a bit crepey too Grin

bigTillyMincepie · 11/12/2011 12:16

Ruby, you have my sympathes re dance exhibition!

Yes MI, he lives somewhere near me - I have often seen him in the park cafe, and I agree, he looks crepey tooXmas Grin

motherinferior · 11/12/2011 12:21

I gazed lustfully adoringly, it should be admitted Xmas Grin

DukesOfTripHazard · 11/12/2011 14:17

"We are actually capable of singing quite well but it depends, you know, on whether we manage to do so at the appropriate time. And some of that wasn't last night". Oh MI, I could have written that. Makes me quite nostalgic.
I gave up my choir at the start of September for juggling and heart not being in it reasons. Am going to their concert next week and awaiting either 'I must go back at any cost' or 'Quite glad I'm not doing that any more' reactions.

Bought a large haul of knitwear and long sleeved t-shirt basics at Knightbridge H&M including a machine washable pair of wide legged casual strides. Also dropped a fortune on make up in Harvey nicks. Nars multiple in G-spot anyone? Hmm

My play needs more developing so will actually not be offered now until the spring. Am relieved it's still on table not tipped over cliff.

herbs, playcentre stuff and That Woman in particular sounds v tiresome.

People coming in a bit. DH is cooking. Want to swathe self in layers of H&M knitwear including scarf. Will be hot but happy.

I have purchased new PJs for the girls and a new Bobbi Brown blusher for me in JL. PJs not because we have weird Christmas Buying Habits but because DD1 desperately needs some and DD2 prefers wearing PJs to any other garment in the world, so they become part of any present to her. Got her Gruffalo ones which her dad thinks are (a) a bit too babyish (b) a size too small. As DD2 is a small eight year old and JL sizes are quite big, I reckon a 5-6 will be exactly right.

herbaceous · 11/12/2011 16:09

Shortly off out to play my bassoon in a scratch orchestra for a carol service. Take that crepeys. A new level in eccentricity.

When young, I was quite the whizz at the bassoon, even getting paid to play. Now I haven't played properly for 20 years, and the thing desperately needs overhauling (as do I), but this annual scratch orchestra is a super way to keep the hand in. And remembering basic fingering.

bigTillyMincepie · 11/12/2011 16:53

Are they Crhistmas Eve PJ's MI?Xmas Smile I would like a pair of Gruffalo PJ's. Actually, I would like any PJ's as mine have all gone mysteriously missing since last winter...

Herbs, I've never met anyone who plays the bassoon. Apart from you, of course!

Gunners?! We are Spurs supporters in my family. Grin

Back from Blighty - fraught and hurried, but most things achieved (celebrating the Outlaws' Golden Wedding Anniversary, Christmas shopping). We lunched at Yo Sushi at St Pancras on the way up and the bill for four of us came to 101 quid. Shock On the way back we ate at the restaurant that is linked to the Champagne bar, and partook of Champagne, and the bill was considerably less. (And the experience was a lot more civilised.)

motherinferior · 11/12/2011 20:18

When is the meet up, btw?

FuckingWonderwoman · 11/12/2011 20:30

20th Jan?

Stropperella · 11/12/2011 20:44

Feh to all football Grin . Luckily ds appears to have no interest in it. Phew. Spent 3 hours yesterday sitting on a very hard bench watching them do their karate grading. I'll be taking a cushion next time. Luckily they both passed, so are now yellow belts and can start "sparring" and entering competitions. And more expensive kit. Hmm. Also, I have just had to fork out £30 for dd's uniform for CCF and have received instructions about going to get her special boots from the army surplus shop. "It's alright, the man said you don't have to get the £200 ones." Hmm What with karate and camo, it's all a bit martial round here at the moment. And I'm sure you'll all be glad to know my boxing is coming on well. Grin

Am v. impressed by herb's bassoon playing. I gave up my choir stuff in the spring for the same reasons as Dukes. Although the choirs I sang with were of the community show choir type, so more Stevie Wonder than Handel. Grin

Blackduck - have a great holiday!

Am hoping some more work will come in before Christmas as I'm feeling a bit over-anxious about workflow again. Invigilating tomorrow, but hope that something else will come along for later in the week

Stropperella · 11/12/2011 20:49

Re: attractive slebs in the locality - oh for a bit of McGann eye candy. We have Doc Martin and Piggy Fellowes.

Blackduck · 11/12/2011 20:58

I have packed...
Dp - I thought we only had one hold bag?
Me - that is hand luggage.....
It's light, but taking the piss.....
All packed, visas, money.......don't care anymore.
Crepeys, I will post (intermittently - in between handling bloody solicitors on house move etc etc) but have a good one, kiss, kiss, kiss around, love you all (my Christmas day, one too many moment...)

CointreauVersial · 11/12/2011 21:00

Local slebs?? Phil Tufnell, Michael Caine, and some newsreader whose name I can never recall. Eye candy? I think not.

BTM, if only the "sister" comment were made to make my mum feel better.....it was a genuine mistake; she knew mum's sister was at the party, but she just squinted at the wrong person. And back-pedalled horribly when the mistake were pointed out (and mum had stopped laughing). Angry

Respect to the bassoon player. I played clarinet for a while as a child but gave up after wetting myself spectacularly in a lesson. Blush Blush

Blackduck · 11/12/2011 21:05

Colin buchanan Is my local 'star' .....

Stropperella · 11/12/2011 21:11

Your elderly cousin is clearly in need of some new glasses, CV!

bigTillyMincepie · 11/12/2011 21:17
