Ooh hello! [emerges blinking into new thread] Can't believe there are over 50 posts on here already Smile

I wrote a long post earlier about my ventures into lilylolo, but then the PC froze and I lost it. And then I had to get on with some work (tsk tsk).

So, I got my lovely little package last night - two foundation samples, one bronzer sample, one concealer, one translucent veil sample, one kabuki brush. I feel I need to test it over a few days (as I did with BE) before I give final verdict, but here are first thoughts:

POSITIVE

  • I really, really like that you can buy sample pots for £1.29 each. Why don't all make-up companies do this?
  • Good range of colours for very pale skins, like mine.
  • Nice texture on skin
  • Looks more natural on than BE, lighter coverage
  • kabuki brush soft and glossy, more swishy than BE
  • bronzer for pale skin, much lighter than Warmth

NEGATIVE

  • very light coverage, but presumably I can build this up more
  • left my skin a bit too shiny; not oil breakthrough, but shiny finish. I sorted this with some pressed powder
  • bronzer too orange

So generally positive, but I think I need to keep testing both BE and LL for a few more days till I can reach a confident conclusion. (If the BE and LL Marketing Depts would like me to send me bribes - given that my conclusions may actually make a difference to their sales - they are of course very welcome Smile)

Bisque = normal and summer bisque aren't the same - I think from watching QVC that summer bisque is more for eyelids as a primer than to cover scars etc Get yourself some normal bisque grape and see how you get on as I really rate it :)

alfiemama · 06/10/2011 12:31

I agree hester with regards to the samples. They are a good size also.
I haven't really noticed a shiny finish but I haven't got BE to compare to.
I also found my wrinkles laughter lines did actually look better. Grin

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/10/2011 12:33

Oh Thankyou Val, will order a pot pronto :)

Unless anyone has a pot of bisque they no longer require? Will pay, obviously :)

valiumredhead · 06/10/2011 12:40

grape I get mine from FEELUNIQUE and it's free P and P too and really speedy delivery!

valiumredhead · 06/10/2011 12:41

I have just looked and it's £16.50 grape - the pot will last you a good 6 months!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/10/2011 12:48

Thankyou, will go have a look on there.

On another note, I have just emailed Babyliss to complain about my BBH breaking after naff-all usage :( hoping they can repair/replace but not looking hopeful given that a) I have no receipt and b) I paid cash.

valiumredhead · 06/10/2011 12:55

Take it back to the shop where it was bought grape your contract is with THEM not the manufacturer.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/10/2011 13:01

I bought it a couple of days before Christmas last year though, so nearly a year ago. Surely they'll just laugh at me, no?

valiumredhead · 06/10/2011 13:04

No, that is not ' a reasonable length of time' to last for something that is £50.

I took a 6 month old hoover back to Argos once - not a problem in the least!

I am the QUEEN of taking things back though and have NO shame Grin

Mmm..last time I looked I had got half way through the last thread. So Jodie, when you think you are just responsible for making the nation be-you-ti-ful, remember that whilst you were sleeping, I was reading, dropping everything (including my laptop) and dashing to the nearest outlet for BE in Sydney (yes Seymour, if you're still there, Sydney!).

Silly silly SILLY woman persuaded me NOT to buy the starter pack she had because whilst it was reduced from $160 to $100 it was still much more expensive than it has started to be with it's new supplier/stockist. What was she thinking? What was I thinking, listening to her? She was lovely, and 28 weeks pg. so I didn't feel I could argue, but I did grab a brush and swirl and tap and buff as I ran out of her little shop (that'll teach her not to sell things!)... and it was ...............

transformative

Then I went into the supermarket and bunged some Garnier BB cream into my basket to that was that.

But I've found the website, and the nearest shop (not very near) and will get there in a few days. So, Seymour, if you need a link, try this one .

So Jodie, thank you. Your kind works have reached the Antipodes, and for that I am very gratefully as I am for the thread on the Big Hair Brush which is bloody awesome

I'm not a S&B girl. This is a place for those with opinions on Designers and Labels and Things like that. But there you go. My life is a little better and a lot brighter for reading this all and behaving like a lemming taking notice.

MadamTwoSwords · 06/10/2011 13:09

sarayu got my pinterest invite through, I will be having a play tonight!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/10/2011 14:52

Have received a response from Babyliss, I need to give them the serial number so that can check if it's still within the guarantee period. If so, they will repair or replace free of charge :). Very impressed with their swift response, I've waited days with other companies

rusmum · 06/10/2011 15:44

got my pin terest invite too x

Sarayu · 06/10/2011 16:58

Hurrah for all new levels of GAWJUS and especially to Jackaroo :) Oh oh, I DO think it's brilliant - an international wave of gorge Grin (I'm tempted to pretend that I care about Other Stuff but truly cannot be arsed).

I know what you mean about the mannequin look Reality - I'm having to learn the different ways of applying it so I can either look 'a smoothed out' or 'Eerily perfect'....

OP posts:
JodieHarsh · 06/10/2011 20:08

fannybanjo · 06/10/2011 20:42

Marking my place to all that is fabulous (and fucking expensive!)

Received gratefully from Kerstina the light and it is LOADS better although only had a quick go before. I will let you all know tomorrow as now I have the correct colour how it compares to Avon.

meltedchocolate · 06/10/2011 20:44
