BB - is it for spots or can you use it as a foundation? I am confused Grin

OhThisIsJustGrape · 29/10/2011 12:28

Val I read your post after posting mine and realised I'd got it wrong. I thought I'd got away with it Grin

BB is a kind of tinted moisturiser/primer thingy. It's coloured but doesn't cover anything really. For someone with perfect skin I can see how it would give a nice glow without the need for foundation but for someone like me it does naff all to cover or improve the look of my skin.

I have used it today under my LL, my skin is really dry again so hoping it will help to hydrate it. Only had my make up on an hour or so, so too early to tell whether it improves the staying power. Cant say it's made any difference to how I look though.

Will report back later, on a massive cleaning mission today and now off to tackle the playroom before Santa fills it with more plastic crap lovely toys :)

valiumredhead · 29/10/2011 12:33

Oooooooooooo I had a sample of Avon Renew genics and I really like it AND a tenner off so brings it down to a resonable price - I am tempted! It's rare that I can use Avon creams - they used to bring me out in all sorts of nasties!

I will give BB a miss - I haven't got perfect enough skin Grin

Ggirl I used the retin a cream on eyelids last and no problems. Yet! Wouldn't use the gel on them though.

I'm going to go back to using my Jan Marini products. Has anyone else used them?

valiumredhead · 31/10/2011 11:35

Not heard of Jan Marini products fanny - tell all! :)

fannybanjo · 02/11/2011 15:17

Wow this thread gone cold, hope "Jodie" back soon.

valium Jan Marini products are excellent. The bio-Glycolic range amazing. I used it for years but for when I started on Retin A, stopped. I've reordered the facial wash and bioclear cream this week though as now my skin used to the retin a, I can use the Glycolic products again!

valiumredhead · 02/11/2011 15:19

Will google fanny and have a look!

I bought a primer today - Barbara Daly one which seems really nice - only tested it on the back of my hand so far. Also bought ( as it was 3 for 2 offer) 'face lift' cream which seems exactly like Bobbi Brown's cream/primer but a third of the price - even smells the same.

Will use properly tomorrow and report back with verdict! :)

ggirl · 02/11/2011 15:25

fanny-did you get my message?

fannybanjo · 02/11/2011 20:09

ggirl I did and I thought I'd replied.... Blush. Re saying it comes from Ireland, maybe I didn't, apologies!

ggirl · 02/11/2011 20:25

no worries -I didn't get the reply but you've just answered my question so thanks Smile

valiumredhead · 03/11/2011 07:56

update!

Wow the 'facelift' and primer are amazing - really stop the whole settling into the pores thing! I am really impressed :)

ggirl · 04/11/2011 18:11

ok fab update on the power of BE
I am 50 next june
was told today by 34 yr old that he thought I was nearly 40

valiumredhead · 04/11/2011 18:22

ggirl · 05/11/2011 11:28

I look like a pile of shite today though Grin

valiumredhead · 05/11/2011 14:15

Still dead impressed with Barbara Daly products, have just slapped a load of face lift on to see if that helps!

ggirl · 05/11/2011 15:13

ggirl · 05/11/2011 15:14

fannybanjo · 05/11/2011 19:44

ggirl · 05/11/2011 19:55

yup
6 wks from now this is me

JuxAlittleSparkler · 06/11/2011 10:57

Girl, wow! Am Envy

People keep saying "gosh, you look well" which is massive compliment as I usually don't Grin

Valium, do you use the facelift and the primer, and which way round?

Grape, dd's skin is clearing up really well, thank you so much. She is so much more confident, and so much happier! [delight]

Has anyone used the Bougeois mineral stuff? That's all our local Boots has, and they have taken over all our lovely independent chemists so we have no choice at all.

JuxAlittleSparkler · 06/11/2011 11:00

ggirl that was meant to be, sorry Blush. (cursed auto-correct, my computer doesn't do that, but everything else does, grrrrrrr)

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/11/2011 12:05

Jux so glad to hear your DD's skin is improving, I bet her confidence will soar now!

I gave the Garnier BB cream another shot yesterday after being distinctly unimpressed last week. Have to say, I rather like it now :) Not sure what it does for my skin, certainly doesn't hide blemishes or diminish my pores but I do have a certain 'glow' about me which is nice. Tried it today over primer to see if it works ok like that.

Also, just had my period and only suffered one hormonal spot, I am certain thus is down to not have shite make up clogging my skin anymore.

JuxAlittleSparkler · 06/11/2011 16:25

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeew look at us all being beautiful now!!!!!

ggirl · 06/11/2011 16:59

I had afternoon to myself today and went shopping , asked at BE counter for a foundation match ...I know I thought I was happy with fairly light but lately I have been catching a glimpse of myself and I look too pale.

Anyway orange girl was lovely , hadn't heard of mumsnet , thought I was a bit nuts. She tried loads of different ones on and eventually we chose medium-beige in matte.
Suits me miles better than fairly-light. Still can't get my head around the order of the shades
She made my face up and now I want the blusher and eyeshadow but restrained myself.
A couple of other ladies came up to the counter ..looking like def mnetters to me..own up any bournemouth ladies?!

valiumredhead · 06/11/2011 17:23

jux I moisturise, then skin lift cream and then promer - I cannot tell you the difference it makes to the staying power of foundation - really good!

gg I am convinced I am medium beige too - light is too chalky on me.
