God sorry Jux sorry, I haven't many thread veins (some around nose) so can't say for definite. However I'd look into it if I were you, it may well minimise them, I'm sure the ones around my nose are less noticeable.

Jux · 27/10/2011 19:30

Well really Fanny, how could you possible not have known however many years ago it was that one day I would be asking about thread veins and would need to know!! Grin

Jux · 27/10/2011 19:32

[waves at Jodie: thread isn't the same without you, Oh Beautiful One]

I am interested in this retinA cream
I don't have acne or hormonal spots but have an oily t-zone that's prone to blackheads , much better since i started on the BE though.
My question though is , I am 50 next yr and have fine lines around the eye area and am starting to get fine lines going towards chin fomr corners of mouth.
Can I use this cream around the eye area?

fannybanjo · 27/10/2011 22:12

ggirl I use it around those areas and no problems at all. Only place I peeled was on my cheeks and around mouth. At your age it is great time to start using it for lines, especially if deep wrinkles not set in yet. Smile

ggirl · 27/10/2011 22:19

oh really..thats good news
how about eyelids

fannybanjo · 27/10/2011 22:32

I've read of people doing it! I'll be the guinea pig for you....Grin. I'll put it on mine and if they burn to fuck, I'll come find you and stick pins in your eyes. Wink

ggirl · 27/10/2011 23:14

great..go on then Smile
let me know if you're eyelids drop off

valiumredhead · 28/10/2011 11:04

I use a burst vitamin E capsule on lines around my mouth.

fannybanjo · 28/10/2011 11:35

Does it help valium? I'm not particularly lined BUT I have a very small narrow face and I think as I age, I won't age brilliantly iykwim. I find that the most youthful looking people are the ones with wider bone structure.

ggirl · 28/10/2011 12:27

Orange lady called me at home yesterday !!
left a message asking how I am getting on with my starter kit

If I could be arsed I would call back and say I wish they did started kit in matte version as I am getting shiney nose halfway through day with original version.

Tried the BE eyeliner this am (have got time today to fart around as not working) and it was a fail today. Need to practice more I think. Not used to using a powder liner.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 28/10/2011 12:46

There's a seller on eBay selling 9g sifter pots of BE Veil for £10.95, free postage.

I bought one Monday and it arrived yesterday, it's huge! Should last a fair while :)

SheepAreSuper · 28/10/2011 14:06

Aha...this looks like the right place for a bit of advice if you'd be so kind.

I visited a lovely orange lady last week to acquire some beautifying products, namely the BE starter kit. Bought some of the Prime Time too as it felt lovely on.
Now, I've used mineral make up of various brands before and generally my skin is nails...it's very definitely combination with an oily T-zone and occasionally dry cheeks but I've never had to be careful with brands at all.

Love the BE, nice coverage and very natural looking and lightweight, used it daily since Sunday, HOWEVER my face is now flaking off. I mean, from top of forehead to under my chin, it's red, scaly and cracking and so sore that I can barely touch it.

I'm not convinced it's the foundation itself (which contains identical ingredients to my pot of 'random something or other' from Boots which I've not had a problem with. So maybe the mineral veil or the primer. Has anyone one else reacted to these specifically?
Is there any easy (preferably non face removing) method of working out what it is that's destroyed skin?
And finally, do you have any idea how I can fix my skin? I'm covered in Nivea intensive moisturiser at the mo. Do I just stay make up free and continue with covering myself in moisturiser? I think it's helping a bit so I'm loathed to go busting down my GPs door just yet.

ggirl · 28/10/2011 14:48

jesus sheep sounds horrendous
obviously a reaction to something you are putting on your skin
sounds like contact dermatitis which is usually treated with emollients and sometimes a mild steroid cream
maybe the primer is the cause

ggirl · 28/10/2011 14:49

have you got a fragrance free cream like e45 or aqueous cream?

SheepAreSuper · 28/10/2011 15:10

Thanks ggirl.

It is a bit of a mess.

Will grab some E45 on the way home and start plastering that on. I think it'll be more soothing than the Nivea (which was all I had in that didn't sting to buggery).

At least it's nearly Halloween cos I look like Freddie Kruger

valiumredhead · 28/10/2011 16:46

sheep test new products on the inside if the elbow and leave for 48 hours next time.

You poor thing Sad sounds painful! I would use something very bland like E45 - wouldn't use Aqueous unless you rinse it off afterwards as it contains detergent and might irritate your skin further.

I use Aveeno products when I have nasty skin flare ups. Hope it passes soon! :)

PinotScreechio · 28/10/2011 17:20

No new shampoo val. Hate spots :(

OhThisIsJustGrape · 28/10/2011 17:32

sheep does your other product contain bismuth? If not, and you have been using the original BE (as opposed to the matte version which is bismuth free) then pound to a penny that's what has caused your reaction.

I think you should get some aqueous cream as it's so pure and if no improvement within a couple of days see the GP.

Once skin is healed then you can try process of elimination to see what's causing it, try no primer first and if ok then you'll know it was that.

You poor thing, hope it's better soon.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 28/10/2011 18:03

I noticed Tesco have the Garnier BB for £8 so slipped some in with my online order Grin. I ordered the light which is fine for me but it's not really very light.

So, how do you use it? My skin is way to crap to use it on it's own so would it work under my LL foundation? Also, anyone had any breakouts from using it or can report on whether it makes skin oily?

Will try it out tomorrow properly.

SheepAreSuper · 28/10/2011 21:12

Thanks for the help.

Yep Bismuth in the old stuff too Confused

Will keep piling on the cream and stay barefaced this weekend. Will patch test the primer and mineral veil.

meltedchocolate · 28/10/2011 21:54

Grape Yes, use with BE. Remember that BB is not a foundation but a cream so rub it in like a cream. It is not very light no. I got 'light' and it makes me a bit darker than I actually am but only a little and I wouldn't say it was that orange. I have dry skin at first which then gets oily through the day and I wouldn't say it made me oilier either.

Can anyone PM me to tell me what happened to Jodie? :(

OhThisIsJustGrape · 28/10/2011 22:12

Have Pm'd you Melted.

When you say rub it in like a cream, what exactly do you mean? Rub it until it completely disappears rather than foundation where you don't rub so hard?

meltedchocolate · 28/10/2011 22:37

Erm, Well as you spread it it sort of melts in anyway. But don't brush it in like a foundation.

Thanks for the PM. Poor Jodie :(

valiumredhead · 29/10/2011 10:07

Just to contradict grape (sorry! Grin) Aqueous isn't pure and it is no longer advised by 'sore skin/excema experts' as it contains detergent and can make skin worse not better if left on. It was only ever invented as a soap substitute not a moisturiser and over the years it has just been a cheap way for GP's to control skin problems. It makes my skin red a sore and stings!
