FEELUNIQUE is fab and free post from both BE and LL.

How long do your pots last? 6 months?

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 17:12

Hello btw :)

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 17:18

Thanks :)

No, not lasting 6 months at all. :( I don't think I am tapping enough off or buffing for long enough tbh. Probably not spending long enough on it but mornings are so rushed getting sorted for work!

Still happy with the results though, esp as I never wear much makeup generally.

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 17:22

Using it once a day I would think you should get 4-6 months out of a BE pot, less if you use it more.

You need to buff for as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice Grin

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 17:24

I will try the buffing and singing (in my head!) and see how it goes.
Just about need a new pot and it has definitely not lasted 6 months. I need to buff longer. Only using once a day unless going out at night, which tbf is less than once a week it gets used twice.

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 17:26

A tester from LL will last you about 3-4 weeks and is only £1.29, what about giving that a go, lots of people think it has more staying power then BE?

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 17:58

It stays on fine - I just tend to redo makeup if going out at night after a shower, etc.
But I am just using it too quickly.

shoeprincess2 · 13/10/2011 17:58

Another fan of LL here. I was typically oily and large pored. I have been following the OCM for 3-4 weeks now (after finally getting hold of some castor oil) and been twirling, tapping and buffing for 9 days with my LL sample sizes. Love it. My makeup lasts all day, give a lovely finish, my pores have diminshed markedly and I just look healthy. I still get a few little hormonal spots, but the LL sorts them out and covers without looking cakey. Marvellous stuff for building your self confidence. I just wish I'd started much earlier...

ggirl · 13/10/2011 19:37

I'm soo excited .both Avon and Liliylolo arrived in the post today..will have a play with them in the am.
Have ordered LL mineral blush and eyeshadow which is extra exciting..how sad am I??

BTW have busy hectic day at work and my BE matte looks fanastic!!
Hope the others live up to it.

hermioneweasley · 13/10/2011 19:46

Right - how's this for staying power? Over the last 2 days I have hosted a 2 day conference. I have been up before 6am so did my make up about 6.30. I have been running around, nervous, hot and under hot lights. My make up didn't budge! I did a touch up with matte powder at lunchtime and that was it. Flippin' phenomonal, and did wonders for my confidence. I am so glad mineral make up was recommended!

shoeprincess2 · 13/10/2011 20:12

ggirl- what colours did you get? I quite fancy some eyeshadows and blushers from LL. Please let us know how you get on with them.

ggirl · 13/10/2011 20:26

shoe- I got soft brown eyeshadow and rosebud blush ,both matte.
Will let you know how I get on.

hester · 13/10/2011 20:59

Me too hermione! I was up at 5.30 today, was on my feet all day lecturing, am now slumped at home exhausted. BE is singing, "My heart will go on". It is the cockroach of the make-up world - it will outlive us all and survive global catastrophe, you mark my words.

gregssausageroll · 13/10/2011 21:19

My orange lady at BE, Jenners in Edinburgh said to wash my brushes at least once a week.

She is actually not really orange but lovely and happy to help and spend lots of time trying more products!

gregssausageroll · 13/10/2011 21:19

and I got a mascara which I love. The brush is amazing.

levantine · 13/10/2011 21:34

Grin at cockroach of the make-up world

I have finally got it. I put loads more on than usual, and it works! I just wasn't putting enough on.

ggirl · 14/10/2011 07:54

SAddo confession.

I put makeup on before I got into bed last night..well I do have about 6 different types/shades to try and there's limited time Grin

Last night was Avon's nude 's turn on my lovely visage. I must say I am very impressed with the coverage. Much quicker to apply than the BE and it's still looking good this morning...bloody amazing stuff !.
The mineral blush from LL is FAB!! So glad I got it..looks very natural...love love love it.
Eyeshadow great as well will see how long it last today.

After my shower will try another one

PinotScreechio · 14/10/2011 09:14

I want to go to ggirls house and play make-up!

hester :o @ cockroach make-up!

valiumredhead · 14/10/2011 09:34

Avon is FAB and wins the best packaging award imo! Grin

Still impressed with LL.

Cockroach make up! Grin

My question du jour is - has anyone tried the erase L'oreal primer? The one in the little jar? Was looking at it in Boots and couldn't decide wether the fact it was so thick was a good thing or not...

hester · 14/10/2011 09:57

Quick question about Avon: do they have a colour that is good for pale but yellow-toned? (I currently use BE Fairly Light or Lilylolo Blondie, though may need to go paler for winter.)

whojimmyflip · 14/10/2011 09:58

That primer is full of silicon. So it feels nice but doesn't do anything and im not sure buffing would be compatible with the texture of that primer. Might pil / pill. I like the Laura mercier primers. Pricey but good. That's if you need a primer with mineral makeup ( which I'm not so sure about) but I guess it's different for different people.

PinotScreechio · 14/10/2011 10:00

I am the same shade as Hester, so I'd like to know too!

Val I have - is excellent. Worth the £. Another good one is Barbara Daly for Tesco - again in a little pot, but this one is skin-toned. Overall the l'oreal is better but Barbara Daly one is half the price.

What makes the Avon packaging so good?

ggirl · 14/10/2011 10:13

Avon packaging good because flip up lid with mirror , which is not needed imo as it just gets covered in powder anyway ,has only one hole for powder to come out so fairly easy to get the right amt.

Must say I have just put on LL popcorn and its not impressed me as much as Avon but will give it a few hrs , may be the wrong shade for me.

Also have noticed in the bright daylight that the eyeshadow that's meant to be matte def has sparkly bits in it Hmm

Still think the blush is the dogs bollocks though.

PinotScreechio · 14/10/2011 10:20

I just asked a question about concealer shades on the lilylolo facebook page and they replied in 7 minutes!

I asked what shade matched Blondie (hester note) and they say Barely Beige.

Roll on payday as I want the LL blusher now too...

janinlondon · 14/10/2011 10:23

Have been lurking on both threads, and bought the devil's own foundation/concealer etc, but (deep breath) just cannot seem to make it work. It doesn't DO anything? I swirl tap and buff, three layers, everything as described, but after five minutes I just can't see anything except my fairly awful skin. It doesn't look like I have anything on my face at all? As if I've just buffed it all off. All I can see is a few stray bits of the brush left behind on my nose. Am now wondering if (like Levantine above) I am just not using enough? But everyone said use tiny tiny amounts and build up or you'll get cake face. Am I using too tiny an amount??????
