So, it's almost time to take my make up off and get into my pj's , LL has been on for about 10 hours and still looks amazing! Everything starts to slide off by about 11am usually, even BE didn't make it much past lunchtime (but slid off much more elegantly than anything else I've used), however the LL is still going strong Shock

To be fair, if I was now going put somewhere then I would give it a quick buff as it's a little pore-y but as I'm now in for the evening and about to take it all off anyway then I won't bother as it looks just fine.

To say I'm impressed is a major understatement, I Thankyou all who have recommended LL from the very bottom of my pencilcase make up bag Grin

valiumredhead · 12/10/2011 18:12

Grape it's really good isn't it?

I too am thinking about having a shower and pajamas...

OhThisIsJustGrape · 12/10/2011 18:41

Lol Val, glad I'm not the only one slumming it! I always shower and get into my pjs before bathing the kids, that way I can just sidle off to bed usually by 9pm whenever I fancy :)

ggirl · 12/10/2011 20:16

right have worn matte BE today and it's definitely better than the original for staying power on my oil slick

OhThisIsJustGrape · 12/10/2011 20:37

Noooo ggirl for staying power you need LL, the BE matte is good but LL is better.

I have a medium BE matte trial size (10 days worth apparently) if anyone wants it? I opened it to check the colour but was too dark for me.

levantine · 12/10/2011 21:06

Hmm I still look pale and oily with BE Sad

I think I've got some lily lilo samples somewhere, will dig them out

Am very impressed with how BE have responded to these threads tho

levantine · 12/10/2011 21:23

Oh I do sound like a creep Grin

brassick · 12/10/2011 21:42

Help! I am REALLY disappointed with my experience so far with BE. Either I am crap at applying it or my skin is so perfect it makes no difference...

Neither the foundation (fairly light) nor the bisque cover up a couple of small "blemishes" (that I'd never even noticed before I started studying my face so closely) on my cheek. I look "pore-y" straight after application & then by midday I can't see that I look any different to previous pre-BE days. (shiney chin, nose & forehead). Warmth doesn't seem to show up at all...

What on earth am I doing wrong? I do have an issue that I am short-sighted, and therefore can't see too well when applying-have to bring my face really close to the mirror & can't see the overall picture too well...

Should I be putting more on? Am I taking the "tiny amount" too literally? Should I go for the "light" to see if that makes a difference?

Please someone give me some advice, I got the BE for my birthday & I was sooooo excited & now am feeling v deflated.

whojimmyflip · 12/10/2011 21:49

brassick, what brush are you using? I read your post several times and the only thing I can think is that you are not using enough. If you were studying your face really up close you would look like you had a definite layer of makeup on (to begin with anyway). So if it doesn't look like you have much on up close then try with more.

Don't be scared as you can always remedy mistakes- you clean the brush on some tissue ( or a towel or carpet or whatever Grin) and then you buff over what is there and keep cleaning the brush and buffing till you have the right amount on.

BE are doing a giveaway for the people on these two threads, MN have the details at the end of the other thread, but you basically go to FB, like MN and click on the link on the left entitled Bare Escentuals giveaway. It doesn't work for me because I have (somehow?) got secure browsing which is interfering with it. Sad

If you know how to switch off FB secure browsing, do tell!

Jux · 12/10/2011 22:02

Oh, I see it's already been announced Blush

ggirl · 12/10/2011 22:16

brassik-do you use a magnifying mirror? That should help.
I find you need to do a few layers to get decent coverage.

Grape -I am waiting to try LL with baited breath-sounds like it'll suit my skin, just hope i've chosen the right shade. Have randomly picked 3 or 4 that looked close to BE light which is a good shade for me.

ggirl · 12/10/2011 22:19

I have the mini flawless brush and the normal sized one I bought yrs ago. I find the mini one is better at getting coverage in my t-zone cos the bristles are tighter together. Maybe the bigger one which is older has losts it's oomph.

brassick · 12/10/2011 22:19

Whojimmyflip, I have tried both brushes, not much difference that I could see.

I will try using more tomorrow...thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else any other thoughts?

brassick · 12/10/2011 22:22

I don't have a magnifying mirror, would still have to put my face v close up to it though. Being shortsighted really sucks! Maybe I should try application while wearing my glasses (other than on my eyes obv!)

OhThisIsJustGrape · 13/10/2011 06:15

ggirl I am light in BE and the LL Barely Buff is a good match for me.

Brassick I too can only assume you aren't using enough. Could you go along to an Orange Lady and get some tips on how to apply/watch how they do your face?

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 07:56

Top tip for using Bisque Grin -

When you have finished using it on your face, use what is left on the brush over your lips - it blocks out the colour so when you put your lippy/gloss on you get the TRUE colour AND it works as a primer for staying power.

This service announcement was brought to you by Valiumredhead

hester · 13/10/2011 08:02

brassick, it has taken me a good couple of weeks to work out how to apply it well, and it is the application that makes all the difference. First of all, I do think a siliconey primer helps. Then - a good brush helps. I am using the kabuki brush from Lilylolo, which I'm finding much better than the BE one. Do lots and lots of buffing - someone here (Jodie?) said sing happy birthday twice while you're buffing, and I think that's about right. Add an extra layer only where you need it - sounds like it's T zone, like me. Then add the mineral veil on top.

Keep practising when you have a bit of time and it doesn't matter if you have to wash it off. I think you'll get there.

Jodie - you should start running BE seminars for MNetters! An application workshop with lots of wine and sausage rolls...

Must go, have to spend all day on my feet running a management development programme. However it goes, will be smugly confident that my buffed and gorgeous face will stay intact through rain, wind, hail and nuclear explosion .

hester · 13/10/2011 08:03

Ooh, valiumredhead - y ou're good

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 08:21

Hester I was watching QVC with Laura Geller in between programmes last night drives dh mad that I channel hop! and she has a lip primer product and I thought "Oooooooo I already do that, I MUST tell the other sheep tomorrow!" Grin

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 08:21

AND you can use the bisque as an eyelid primer - works really well!

PinotScreechio · 13/10/2011 10:04

ooOoo the happy birthday trick was meeeeeeee

alfiemama · 13/10/2011 10:46

Morning everyone.

Is anyone using the finishing the powders from LL? I was looking at their matte finishing powder/veil type thing. Is it any good? Also anyone using their concealers what are they like?
Actually, what are their blushers and bronzer like (LL addict now) Blush

valiumredhead · 13/10/2011 11:20

Was going to ask the same about finishing powders alfie...

OhThisIsJustGrape · 13/10/2011 11:30

The LL concealer is ace, far better than BE imo. It actually matches the foundation shade for a start - I emailed LL to ask which shade concealer would be the best match, the replied straight away and their recommendation is spot on.

I used their matte finishing powder today. It's a bit scary as it's pure White but doesn't appear to look that way when it's on. I would say I prefer BE mineral veil BUT I did only use a teeny tiny bit of the LL one this morning so it may be that I didn't use enough. I've only got the little sample pot of that so it's no great loss if I don't get along with it.

I'm just waiting for my bank account to start looking a little healthier (I have spent £80+ in the last 2 weeks on minerals in total Shock )then I am definitely ordering some of the LL eyeshadows and a blusher :)
