:(
My husband hasn't noticed. However, he says I look gorgeous on days when I cant be arsed to put on any make up so what does he know?!

ggirl · 09/10/2011 17:14

dh always says i look nnice...even when I look like a bag of shite
he's terrified to say anything else despite my pleading with him to be honest

ggirl · 09/10/2011 17:15

dd only one to give me an honest opinion

hermioneweasley · 09/10/2011 17:19

Sarayu - yes, that's the primer I've got on today. That and a swirl of mineral veil have just survived a trip to the gym.

ggirl · 09/10/2011 17:29

Got a new kabuki brush today from boots
will have a play and report back

ggirl · 09/10/2011 18:02

ok have been upstairs and redone my face
kabuki a bit abrasive but I could have been pushing too hard
I need to swirl-tap-buff about 3-4 times get any decent coverage
is that normal , or is my mug incredibly ugly

valiumredhead · 09/10/2011 18:22

I do about 3x gg - better to do thin layers than one big cakey layer.

For those with itchy faces - could it be the BE brush? It's badger hair or something awful IIRC... ok, possibly not actual badger hair but it's REAL animal hair.

MmeLindor. · 09/10/2011 18:26

Think I may order the Warmth thing, is this it?

valiumredhead · 09/10/2011 18:26

I just googled - it's GOAT hair...!!!!

valiumredhead · 09/10/2011 18:28

Yes mme - it always makes my face feel and look dirty but others swear by it. My sister LOVES it and she hate blusher normally.

hester · 09/10/2011 22:14

Today I tried LilyLolo's Blondie and it really hit the spot. Think this might definitely be my right colour.

I also have a sample of In The Buff but even without trying it I can see it will be too dark. Does anybody want it? Ditto my BE Warmth?

hester · 09/10/2011 22:17

oK, does anybody know about mineral powders for black skin? My dp is medium to fair skinned (for a black person), very yellow-toned.

meltedchocolate · 09/10/2011 22:30

Hello people How is everyone?

My poor wee DS is very very ill. Poor thing. A bit worried I may pick it up. Have my first exam in years on Tuesday. Can NOT afford to get ill!

Hmm, I thought so.. I have the shade light which has a yellow undertone, whereas I think I have a pink undertone. I am gonna have to go for fairly light. Not sure light is right for me!

I can't do more than one layer gg otherwise I go all cakey face :)

meltedchocolate · 09/10/2011 22:30

mme the warmth is AMAZING for making contours under your cheekbones!

whojimmyflip · 09/10/2011 22:36

hester Mineral makeup is absolutely fine for all skins. I would say tell her to try some of the Lily Lolo samples to see which ones work best. Perhaps cinammon?

She doesn't need to use different colour concealer or anything as the joy of mineral makeup is that it can be used for concealer, base and finishing powder ( as I believe you have discovered!)

there is another company selling mineral bases which look pretty good (though I haven't actually tried them) and this company seems to have more choice in the darker tones
www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk/Samples-Testers/Matte-try-Me-Kit-Everyday-Minerals

but try LL to start, and tell her to start with a little and build up if she needs (sorry if you know all this already!)

hester · 09/10/2011 23:07

Many thanks whojimmyflip - Cinnamon duly ordered! Smile

PinotScreechio · 10/10/2011 09:41

whojimmyflip I'm so glad you're on this thread - you gave such good advice on another mineral makeup thread I c+p'd it into the last sheeeeep thread! :)

Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorning all....

Gah to the break-outs Sad

I guess the only thing to do is try a kind of elimination testy thing one by one to locate the culprit. I can honestly say my skin is amazing at the moment...BUT my breakouts tend to be hormoan related so I might start breaking out when the blasted PMT shows its face in a few days' time. I shall watch and wait.

I AM quite dry. However I think this is because I have been using my freebie BE moisturiser, which is fairly light, when ordinarily I would use a much richer night cream, so I shall switch back to that and see what gives.

I got some Simple eye makeup remover pads after my solemn vow to stop using E45 cream and bog roll but they HURT Sad. I have to rub and rub so much to get the bally stuff off that the delicate lined skin around my eyes burnses. Any recommends for eye makeup remover that's weapons-grade enough to get rid of waterproof mazzy but gentle as a fairy's kisses hmmm? THANKING YOU Grin

In other news, still love my BE - I look great thoughIsaysomyself, and it laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasts. Whoop!

hester · 10/10/2011 10:26

I find Simple quite harsh, Jodie. I really struggle with specialist eye make-up removers: I think Lancome is one of the gentlest. But I usually take everything off altogether with a warm damp muslin cloth and either (a) REN cleansing balm, (b) Liz Earle clean + polish, or (c) any oil I have hanging round the kitchen (except chilli oil, obviously).

A muslin cloth really does help - I find cotton wool very irritating.

MmeLindor. · 10/10/2011 10:52

Cheekbones, definitely need those defined. Think I had a voucher for money off. Must find.

valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 10:57

A warm wet muslin cloth with ANY cream cleanser will work like Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish Jodie ime specific eye make up remover is crap.

It's something to do with mascara being oil based iirc so to remove it you use cream NOT oil.... or something like that

Anyway - it works! Grin

valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 10:57

I am wearing Barely Buff Lily Lolo - looks great!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 10/10/2011 11:06

Was hoping my LL was going to arrive today but postman just been and nada :(

Had major disaster with BE today, have been scrimping on the moisturiser as I think that may be what's causing me to break out and I've got really dry skin now. Looking cakey, flakey and have deep orange patches where it's settled on the driest parts. Didn't have time to reapply so had to do school run and Tesco looking horrific.

Now going to take it off and start again before picking DD up from preschool at 12!

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 11:08

OK so...

FOAMING cleansers like normal facial wash won't work (and indeed don't)

but CREAM or OILY cleansers will (I had heard that olive oil is pretty good) esp. with a muslin cloth???

RIGHT. Where do I get a muslin cloth pliz? And can anyone recommend a cream cleanser that's dirt cheap good value and that can be washed off?

I am all confuzzled - I don't use or like cream cleaners because I like to actually WASH my face, and just putting on cream and wiping it seemed somehow all wrong. I didn't know you could use a cream cleaner and wash too....

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 11:12

I like to wash my face too, that's why I use a muslin cloth jodie - I get mine from Liz Earle.

I bung on cream cleanser - rinse cloth under warm tap and take off eye make up - takes SECONDS and I use loads of mascara, and I mean LOADS !Grin

Then wash my face properly with cloth - it leave the skin feeling lovely and soft.

I use cheap Garnier cleanser, it's called soft skin or something and is about £4. PINK bottle!
