Thanks Pinot! Nice to be appreciated and happy you've discovered the joys of mineral makeup.

Hester hope your DP gets on with that colour. It might be worth trying a couple of shades if cinnamon isn't right but as you've already ordered fingers crossed it's the right one.

I love that it's inspired a quiche!

valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 11:45

A quiche? Grin Clique?

whojimmyflip · 10/10/2011 11:51

Both?! Grin

Dillydollydaydream · 10/10/2011 11:52

I'm not sure if I need the primer or not. I've used the sample primer that came with the get started kit. Today I went without and looks the same. Is it a necessary purchase?
I have been using a soap and glory hot cloth cleanser which I quite like.

PinotScreechio · 10/10/2011 12:18

I use Simple eyemakeup remover in a liquid form and it's luffly. Haven't used the pads Confused

hester · 10/10/2011 12:34

Jodie, you can buy special muslins from Liz Earle or Eve Lom. I think they're overpriced and not big enough. My tip is to buy a pack of baby muslins - I get a pack of 6 from Tesco for a fiver. I soak them in very warm water (seems to clean better if it's a bit hotter), then squeeze the excess out, let it rest over my face for a moment to soften the cleanser and open the pores, then wipe or scrub it all off (scrubbing is all the exfoliation you need). Then rinse, squeeze again, wipe. You get the lovely clean feeling of washing, but a more thorough cleanse. Then you bung the muslin in the wash and it's ready to re-use.

Honestly, it has transformed my skin and it is so much more cost-effective than cotton wool (you also use less cleanser). And of course you can still splash your face at the end of the process if you like that feeling.

levantine · 10/10/2011 12:40

Okay I'm back from a weekend at the inlaws and have caught up with all this malarkey. I have my BE already and I really really want to pinterest

What do I do Grin??

hester · 10/10/2011 12:53

It's moved on, levantine. It's all about hot wet cloths now Grin

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 12:55

OK soooooo (thanks for bearing with my dunce-like understanding of facial cleansing Hmm) I can do this with a CREAM TYPE cleanser that is actually designed to just be wiped off, and don't need to use an actual foamy foamy one?

COOL. Do I have to double check that the cream cleanser is capable of taking off waterproof mascara or will they all do it?

It's such a great tip, thanks you fellows: I can't really use exfoliator because I have vair sensitive skin, and exfoliating properly tends to make me sore/bring me up in dozens of white bumps. But I do need to or I end up all congested and blackheady.

Oh it's a minefield. I bet Tess of the D'Urbervilles didn't have to trouble herself with this stuff.

Jux · 10/10/2011 14:07

Hello again

I've been ill in one way or another for nearly a week, and have gone almost completely makeup free for most of it. But, just before that I got two tiny spots which I dutifully covered with Bisque and in a day they were gone! This has never happened to me before.

I think I've lost my pinterest thing as I haven't been checking my mail much and lots has just gone into deleted as I couldn't sort through it - there was too much of it. Do I have to re-request, does anyone know? I don't want to get lured back into FB or twitter as I have recently weaned myself off both of them....

levantine · 10/10/2011 14:19

ah right have caught up

my skin has never been better than when I did the oil cleansing method - must make some more stuff for it

a muslin + ordinary cleanser sounds like a good half way house

valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 14:20

Jodie ANY cream from basic cleanser to hand cream - I have used Aveeno in times of need Grin Doesn't have to be foaming sort at all, in fact creamy sory works better. Try the E45 cream with a muslin hot cloth - you'll be amazed at what it gets off!

Feeling better now Jux? :)

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 14:58

Yes how are you, Jux matey?? At least you have BE to restore the healthsome glow to your cheeks!

Righto, I am looking forward to darting into boots and getting muslin cloths and some cleanser. I have lashingsandlashings of waterproof gloop on so will do a test tonight and report back (this is what passes for excitement in my world Grin)

Do I ask the sheep about a clothing dilemma or should I start a new fred for that

OhThisIsJustGrape · 10/10/2011 16:03

How does the LL compare to BE? I've just gone over my face with BE original - I've been using the matte but running low on it so thought I'd see what the original is like.

Much prefer the finish but scared to use it because of all the scaremongering reviews about bismuth. LL is bismuth free so hoping it's as good. My trial LL should arrive tomorrow and I've emailed them to ask which concealer matches it, they responded very quickly so thumbs up for their CS.

valiumredhead · 10/10/2011 16:38

REALLY impressed with LL Grape I will order a big pot once my tester is finished. Much more natural but still tons of coverage - and loads of colours to choose from.

Jodie Ask away!

fannybanjo · 10/10/2011 18:04

Still a spotty bitch but no itching however I gave my friend who is a devoted BE fan the Avon medium beige which was too dark for me and she prefers it and has said she won't use BE again!!!

ggirl · 10/10/2011 20:32

hmm wore the BE at work today for first time
and for the first time I used a primer on the t-zone and got a shiny nose
doesn't make sense does it?

meltedchocolate · 10/10/2011 21:06

I shall be wearing it in my exam tomorrow so my flustered face is hidden... Blush

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 21:30

I want an entire mineral makeup testing day to try ALL KINDS and compare and take photos and write write-ups about them

Thanks Val :)

Clothing dilemma as follows: I have to find a Really Nice Frock (pref. black) for a Posh Work Do at the end of next month.

I work with particularly smart, old-fashioned, rather glamorous, old-money type folk (there shall be at least 3 High Court judges at said event Hmm). So when I say Really Nice Frock I mean nothing vulgar, nothing sequined, nothing too High St, nothing floor-sweeping yet nothing too short, nothing frumpy and yet nothing too notably a la mode, but very VERY stylish and flattering.

To complicate things further I am a fatso - I would need an 18 BUT my waist is about a 14 and my tits about a 16. I have unbelievably awful bingo wings so need at least 1/2 or 3/4 length sleeves. It needs to be at least knee length. It needs a full skirt. I am basically shaped like a cello.

I can probably spend up to £100. Any ideas?! Grin

PS Melted good luck with t'exam :)

Can I be super nosy and ask for a hint at what sort of exam? [stalker talk]

OP posts:
MadamTwoSwords · 10/10/2011 21:38

Well "spotgate" update is that I switched to matte and stopped the Avon primer and no more break out and they've calmed down a bit (that may have something to do with the half a tub of sudocrem and spot roll on I put on)

Is the lilylolo bismuth free? Has anyone had break outs on that?

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 21:41

Glad spots are clearing Madam - I had no idea you could use sudocrem for spots. Learn something new every day!

meltedchocolate · 10/10/2011 21:54

Budget Jodie?

And of course you can. A Maths exam. Doing a maths degree. Got another one next week.

JodieHarsh · 10/10/2011 22:04

Crikey Good luck with it. And I do firmly believe that a fresh face assists with um, with um, Fermat's last theorem

Er - £100? £120? I am quite poor...
