Morning..just wanted to drop in and say hello before Saturday..

Have been out and about enjoying the sunshine(up till now)and trying to make the most of time with DD2 while DD1 at school.I take full credit for the heatwave since I dug out my OTKB a couple of days before Wink

Very pretty lace amber and mrscb

annie did you ever decide on loafers or brogues?

ollie DDs and I will watch GBBO later on catch up..am sad it's come to an end..Janet was so lovely last week I cried!

notyummy I'd like to think when I go back to work my outfits will be half as well put together as yours..they always sound amazing!

everything and everyone with DHs who are away a lot,I always remember seeing a mum with 3 children and 3 nannies in tow have a meltdown in the park..it is not easy even with extra help so give yourself pats on the back for surviving!credit is due!

Happy belated birthday bloss your cake sounded yummy!

good to see you back petit

Awful stuff red and carciofi really sad that people can be so callous

ending on an up note really looking forward to seeing some of you on saturday Smile

PORTIA4 · 05/10/2011 08:02

Oops sorry about that, wasn't thinking!
Happy birthday Bloss, 'hope that you have a great day.
Today is definitely winter here, so opaques and a trusty P8 dress to be worn I think!

wideawakenurse · 05/10/2011 08:17

Happy Birthday Bloss, hope you have a lovely birthday. Is that a style day you are thinking of doing?

petit I know what you mean about meeting DH for lunch. A sentence that starts with, "I was at the Staines Causeway meeting DH for lunch" doesn't cut it really. Grin

Nice to see you MrsCB and love that whistles dress. Your weekend away with DH is very well deserved.

I agree with the stroller idea too annie, DS loves them, and I am thinking of getting his one for his 2nd birthday too. Dh is a little Hmm

Weather is tailing off here now, back to jeans and thin jumpers. Much easier to wear really.

GBB was great, so pleased that Jo won, her petite fours were stunning. DS and I are baking today too, although will probably produce slightly less elaborate cakes with a) a 21 month old and b) egg replacement powder!

AmberNectarine · 05/10/2011 08:27

Happy birthday bloss! hope you have a lovely day (and we all know you're going to get some lovely pressies!)

petit yes I do count myself very lucky to be in London and the proximity of our workplace (DH and I work for the same firm, in same dept) to the west end! Missing the freedom to pop to Cov Gdn on my lunch break though!

annie you must have excellent taste then! I am a sucker for a bit of detail, be it animal print, sparkle or lace. Definitely wouldn't call myself a classic dresser!

Am struggling with present ideas from DD - she will be nearly 6mo at Xmas and we have so much from DS I'm inclined not to buy much and put money aside. Might dig out the jumperoo and stick a bow on it. Maybe she'd like some nice new clothes...?

Off to get my pair weighed this morning as it has been a while for DD and over a year for DS Blush

Hope you all have lovely (and stylish) days!

AmberNectarine · 05/10/2011 08:30

wan your DS must be almost exactly the same age as mine, as he will be 2 at very end of Dec!

wideawakenurse · 05/10/2011 08:38

Amber his is the 16th. He was due on the 24th but decided to come early! Mine's the 22nd too, its an expensive month in the WAN house. Smile

notyummy · 05/10/2011 08:41

Happy birthday Bloss!

Great to 'see' you Reine, Dolcee and MrsCB. Love that lace dress MrsCB.

Am trying to remember what we got DD for her 2nd birthday. I think it was a playhouse/play castle that did get a lot of use.

Am in opaques today for the first time since spring, although it's not really cold (supposed to be around 18/19 degrees I think.) It is very breezy though so perhaps feels a bit chillier. Am feeling rather guilty because I have left out socks for DDs school wear and she may be a bit chilly. Ah well, I am sure she will run around enough to keep warm!

Off to M and S at lunchtime to pick up patent heels. I feel a new handbag purchase potentially coming on as well (although cheap and cheerful rather than investment piece.) After that I really will stop buying stuff! Getting a bonus is all very well, but after I have taken DH away for our anniversary at the end of the month, plus all the clothes I have bought recently, I need to make sure there is plenty left to put towards holiday. The Australia trip is increasingly looking like it may happen - DH has booked the leave!! We are looking at a stop off on the way out in Singapore for 3 nights. We may well stop iff on the way back too. In Australia we want to spend some time in Victoria around the winelands (hic!) as that is where my Aunt lives and she has a holiday cottage for us. We then plan to fly to Sydney for a few days and then go to a resort on a Gold Coast for some relaxing 'beach holiday' time. I have found an amazing rain forest tour you can do for a day inland from the Gold Coast, including a walk through the trees at canopy level to see the birds and animals. DD will be over the moon! We then intend to fly back to Melbourne to see the city for a few days before leaving. Nothing booked yet as we are awaiting confirmation from my Aunt that she can have us on the dates we have proposed. Very exciting

petitdonkey · 05/10/2011 08:42

Amber - DD was a baby at Christmas and I put things in her stocking that she needed - new weaning pots and a cup, a carton of formula, a nappy tied in a bow.... Sounds nuts but it was only for DS's benefit and he was so cute "Ahhh, she loves milk!!" was one notable response Smile Yes to bow on the Jumperoo too. Again DS "Oh I had one just like that when I was a baby" (He was only 2.4 btw!!)

My 2yr old will be getting this for Christmas - my friend's daughter has one and DD makes a beeline for it every time. It may be 'lost' by Boxing day. Dolly prams are always a hit too. WAN you can always get a blue one to placate your DH. (PMSL @ Staines Causeway btw!!)

annie - would something like this be good for your DD?

wideawakenurse · 05/10/2011 08:51

Wow, what a trip NY. It sounds amazing. Three nights in Singapore too. My favourite city in the world. I can honestly say I would live their in a heartbeat. Maybe something to do with the fact that my Dad lived there and in KL for a lot of his childhood.

I am thinking of getting a play house for the garden for DS's xmas present. He seems to love them, and thought it would be a good purchase in view of DC2 being a spring baby. Hopefully he can bang about in his playhouse whilst I am feeding.

carciofi sorry, I meant to say thank you for the kind offer of the camisole tops, but that's one thing I am ok for. Very kind to offer though. I have you to blame for my new Seraphine addiction though!

AmberNectarine · 05/10/2011 08:51

wan his is 30th and mine the 19th, he was actually due on my birthday so that year it was spent skulking about eating curry and bitching that there was no point having a new sparkly Bayswater as I had nowhere to go with it [ungrateful cow] this will be the first birthday since 2008 I haven't been pregnant Wine must get that darn baby on a bottle

notyummy · 05/10/2011 08:51

Yes to the minimal approach to 6 month old Xmas presents! DD was 6 months at Christmas too and my mum and dad went nuts (I am an only so she is their one and only GC and they dote on her.) Needless to say, most of it was roundly ignored by DD (DH and I made polite noises, obviously.) The only thing that made a genuine impression - big gummy grin and lots of cuddles - (and she STILL loves, years later) was a brightly coloured cuddly toy with a smiley face. It is an Eskimo actually, in a red outfit.....known as Mo. Mo is member of the family (he also has a twin, bought from ebay, in case he was ever lost) and has been on many adventures. He has his own passport.....and a special soft bit at the top of his head that is worn very thin from where he gets stroked every night as she goes to sleep!

blossoming · 05/10/2011 09:27

That is so sweet notyummy!
thanks for the b'day wishes. My goodness the pinstripe davina is incredible. Dh loves it. I modelled it with my spiky shoeboots.
Wearing janice for work as am college based. Think it could have been prototype for davina. Regretting it though. Bit short and clingy.
Had to come in for payment reasons but will leave now for Chester as the schools I teach are closed due to strike action.
Dd's b'day next week. May get a corolle stroller for her. Ds wants to spend his b'day money in toys r us. Wish me luck!

carciofi · 05/10/2011 10:20

Happy birthday, Bloss! Have fun in Chester. Are you carrying your new bag?

I made a coffee cake for DH yesterday, it was torture. Wink
I am not hungry on the Dukan diet but it is so tedious and I have never drunk so much water in my life (and I missed my glass of wine last night!). I have already lost 2lb though so at least it is working. I eat healthily anyway but hopefully this will get rid of the last few pounds that are annoying me.

Everything, I like your new name but horrible that you feel you might be harassed.

WAN, I preferred Seraphine to IO last time.

Thanks, it was a long time ago and like Marsha, I don't really think about it. What happened to Red's neighbour reminded me. Agree it could happen anywhere, unfortunately, so don't let it put you off your new area.

Lovely dress, MrsCB, hope you have a nice break. I haven't worn my leopard print blouse yet.

Reine, meant to say, the photos of your brother's wedding are fab.

Exciting about the holiday, NY. My brother lives in Melbourne now and loves it.

Dolcee, great news about the house. I have ordered and cancelled two puffa coats, don't think I like any of them enough to pay over £250 so that's why I went with the DKNY in the end. I want to buy the red Anna bag so that's £100 towards it. It is a good size for carrying my DDs' stuff.

We got DD1 a toy kitchen and little table and chairs from ELC for her second birthday, she still uses them. I don't know what I will buy them for Christmas yet.

carciofi · 05/10/2011 10:25

Wan, my cousin's little boy pushes his toy stroller around while wearing his older sister's pink tutu. :) My uncle was horrified and bought him a rugby ball. He now pushes that around in the stroller.

rufus101 · 05/10/2011 10:37

Happy birthday Bloss. Coffee cake yum, yum.
Was in Chapter One last night Petit. Better than ever. And the portions have gotten bigger! I couldn't finish my main, which is unheard of for me! (there was no way I was skipping pudding) It must be the only place I eat pudding when I'm out, as I only like hone cooked stuff.
What a trip NY. Must get myself some of those shoes, although now they have been linked to no doubt there will be a waiting list or something, given the power of W and A.
Was mugged as well in 95, twice in one week! The first time, it was 6pm (November so dark) and it was opposite the Swan Pub near the Royal College of Surgeons (for Carciofi, Verity and Portia as they will know how central it is). The guy grabbed me from behind in a bear hug thereby pinning my arms to my side and was dragging me backwards towards a block of (very crummy) flats. I remember thinking "why am I screaming?" And then the realisation. I was so adrenaline surged that I retained a death grip on my hand bag without even consciously thinking of that. He suddenly dropped me to the ground, and I was lying there a bit dazed, when two girls came running up to me. They had started screaming at him, which is why he dropped and ran. A week later I was in the same area (i lived near there) my bag was snatched! Fortunately st that stage I had removed my grand mother's wedding ring from the bag so I was just bemoaning the loss of make up etc. As Marsha said, I don't think about it. If I do it unsettles me.

rufus101 · 05/10/2011 10:43

I have 2 DS and 1 DD and the stroller is one of the most played with items! They love pushing stuff around in it. Must link to what Santa brought DS aged two and half at Christmas last year. A didi car. 45 euro and they all love it. It appears indestructible and every child who visits loves it too.

Emo76 · 05/10/2011 11:29

Hello hello - looking fwd to Saturday - I have been very remiss on this thread but I will be there "in real life" !
Got a fab red wool dress on today from Joseph - here, really flattering and warm in my ridiculously over aid conditioned office.

Hope all well and sorry for being slack!

MarshaBrady · 05/10/2011 11:39

Oh Rufus how horrible. It's weird isn't it how vivid the memory is when others mention bad similar things. I do remember it was the first time dh and I spoke as we worked together and he said that it had happened to him.

Carciofi My not thinking about things comment was a bit silly as I clearly was reminded and thought about it. I suppose these days I don't embrace the things I used to but float towards beautiful things. Probably city life. And trying to carve a little bubble of serenity and prettiness.

And also because thinking about it (clearly) makes me waffle. Ha.

Emo love the dress, really stunning.

MarshaBrady · 05/10/2011 11:44

I now need to buy a bikini. Hopefully a half price one someone given the time of year.

MarshaBrady · 05/10/2011 12:22

Always the trusted Outnet. Have bought this bikini.

OllieinOrange · 05/10/2011 12:38

Bloss Happy Birthday to you. Glad Davina No 2 is such a big hit (the Boden navy pinstripe chic wool dress which I've had my eye on now has a 18 week wait on it - surely that takes its delivery way past the January sale period - how silly?) Didnt know you had a Janice too. Hope you have a lovely day.
Emo wow that dress is amazing. Wear on Saturday?
Portia thanks for getting post deleted- dont want to sound paranoid but you never know....

Isn't horrible that so many of you have been the victim of similar crimes? Awful. Rufus my blood ran cold reading what happened to you.

Am sitting here thinking whether I could get away with a hat for Saturday? Arrived for cut and highlights to be told my hairdresser was off sick, but that they could cut but not colour it. Desperately needed a cut so said ok but am now sporting a rather short, mumsy cut with a thicker fringe than Im used too and far too many dark roots showing. I could cry but am not going too cos whats done is done!

Cheered myself up by buying my 2012 diary - its covered in a printed grey linen in an Orla Kiery style print on it - love it!

Venue has found my payment - thank goodness

redllamayellowllama · 05/10/2011 13:03

Happy birthday Bloss! Glad to hear that Davina no. 2 has gone down so well.

Ollie you sound like you are being very sensible about your hair. I would imagine that once you style it with your product in a way you?re happy with, it?ll be great. I hate going to a new hairdresser. It took all my courage to find one in Bristol.

Also pmsl at Staines Causeway WAN. We got DS a huge wooden train set for his 2nd birthday and he has reliably played with it every day for the last year. He absolutely loves it. Play house a very good idea too. This plasma car is DS? all-time favourite thing. Is really cool.

Having said that, does anyone have any suggestions for his 3rd birthday? He has a toy kitchen, scooter and aforementioned train set. I refuse to get any more train paraphernalia. Any thoughts?

A corolle doll for DD at Christmas, seeing as all of yours have enjoyed them so much ? could anyone link for me?

NY that sounds like an amazing trip. Real once in a lifetime stuff. My mum is trying to persuade me to take both DCs to Singapore when the bulk of the building work is going on, but I?m not sure I can face the flight and the jet-lag on my own with both of them. Am a wimp.

Lovely dress Emo.

Rufus am so sorry to hear about what happened to you; made my heart skip a beat.

I am now on a quest for a new kind of winter coat. Can?t decide if I would like a biker (which I think would look bad with my large chest) or just something a bit smarter. Need to have a look around and a good think about the gap I am trying to fill. Also, are these a bit naf? I need something that isn?t jeans for the days when they feel too restrictive (read on my fat days) but that isn?t ?smart? trousers as I feel silly in them.

wideawakenurse · 05/10/2011 13:13

Funnily enough though, he does work on the Staines Causeway. Grin Although he did report that they had free cupcakes at work yesterday as part of some promotion. To me that's wow! The most exciting thing that has happened to me at work is probably a Rep turning up with some free biro's that have some sort of constipation product advertised on the them...oh the glamour!

red I love bikers - I have a New Look Pleather one, which I have every intention of upgrading to the real thing next year. I think you can smarten them up depending on your outfit. I'm not sure about the Harems I'm afraid.

Ollie my sympathies. Hopefully styling it yourself will help. I still don't like my colour, I really miss being blond. I am thinking of doing some sort of home colouring next week.

Nice bikini marsha, I am very Envy at your impending holidays.

Rufus what a awful story, must have been terrifying.

Emo great dress.

Bloss those plum coloured block heels you linked to the other day are reduced in LK Bennet.

dolceebanana · 05/10/2011 13:26

Gosh what a difference a weeks makes...in cord skirt, woollen tights and cashmere jumper! Okay, its proper Autumn now......quite like Autumn anyway....

Hope you are having a fab day Bloss...outift sounds very sassy! We bought DD a wooden tea-set (as requested) and a quite cute toadstool house with fairy characters (she'd also asked for 'fairies')...Hmm She was very happy.. Do like the Corolle stroller too...

Yes Carciofi - know what you mean about coats...The DKNY does look nice though.
