Petit you should wear what makes you feel good and what you feel happy in. That is surely what a love of clothes is about, right? I am a teacher by trade, but have just started some freelance TV production work that I can do from home.

Now, am contemplating a name change as I have a very strong suspicion my MiL has discovered MN and me on this thread. But, is it worth name changing? If she wants to read this, she will soon work out who I am, unless I stop divulging anything of a personal nature. The occasional 'private' nature of this thread is at odds with the public nature of the forum, isn't it?

Lovely sounding outfit NY, hope meetings go well.

Had forgotten all about ITT Ollie! May indulge in some catch-up TV at nap time.

Petit, glad you got the scarf. I am not sure whether I will have my colours done for the reasons Annie outlined. If you like something, wear it anyway!

Red, that is awful about that poor man. I was mugged in Belgium and was attacked with a bat, I ended up a black eye and concussion although I handed over my wallet. I was lucky someone stopped to help, it could have been a lot worse.

NY, your lace skirt was in the Sunday Times style magazine, you are fashion forward!

We had a lot of au pairs when I was a kid, I was always plotting ways to get rid of them. I was a horrible child, I'm sure. :)

Annie- those are indeed the famous courts. They seem to have a huge number of v positive reviews so I thought at that price they must be worth a punt! I don't have any patent shoes at all, and they will hopefully work for the office and the evening.

Carciofi- that mugging sounds horrific. Did they catch the perpetrator?

I am pleased to have beaten the Sunday Times to the skirt Grin.

Saw a lady at the station today in the most lovely dress. I v nearly went over and told her and then came over all British and reserved. I should have done though, because on the few occasions it has happened to me I have been delighted. I remember a lady came up to me in the loos at the Hotel Du Vin bar in Brighton when I was wearing a new silk maxi and told me how much she loved it and how great I looked in it. I was like this --> Grin all night!

Little name change as previous one v dull!

Some S&B news here - was meeting DH for lunch so popped to Selfridges where I bought these leopard loafers, this lace T and some quite boring american apparel navy leggings. Also popped into Gap and picked up this little bargain which looks a lot nicer IRL.

Thanks for the info re. evening Marsha and ICC - will do my best to make it!

petit she is 3 months on Sat, guess I am feeling a little demoralised as I put on a lot less weight first time around so I was back to normal in 10 days! Ah well, shall have to lay off the biscuits (does anyone else turn into a biscuit barrel when bf?)

Carciofi how scary that must have been, why do people do these thing?

red are you a secret agent?

Forecast for Sat now looking like high of 13 degrees - definitely opaques weather!

PORTIA4 · 04/10/2011 16:22

Amber love the new name Smile. Those loafers will definitely be on my shopping list on Saturday along with the black leather Gestuz trousers, they really are good value for a leather shoe!
We have had many aupairs, some great and some not so great, but on the whole it worked well for us.

carciofi · 04/10/2011 16:36

NY, no, I reported it but left the next day and didn't want to pursue it. I was stupid, was at a party with DH's friend, couldn't find him, left and couldn't get a taxi and walked back to the hotel, not really knowing the area. It was a long time ago, I was 22.

Amber, I have a bit of a muffin top that I never had before! I am doing the attack phase of Dukan (so just eating protein) for a few days, hoping it works as well for me as it did for NY. Especially like that lace top. I was in Comptoir this morning but didn't have much time. All I bought was a cute pair of jeggings for the baby.

I cancelled the Aigle order and ordered this DKNY coat instead. I really like DKNY, hope it is nice in reality as will be a pain to return.

Just got an email to say I won a book in a Mumsnet competition, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. Has anyone read it? The reviews are good.

carciofi · 04/10/2011 16:37

oops, this coat

notyummy · 04/10/2011 16:47

Ooh Carciofi- sure weight will drop off. Boring but effective!

OllieinOrange · 04/10/2011 17:18

OOooh Wrap have debited the money for the grey peter pan collar blouse. Hope this means its on its way - as Bloss has said in the past, it will really fill a hole in my wardrobe! Can think of 3 occassions already when I could have worn it. Just hope I am not hyping it up in my head!

Just had a slight scare over the MU - the venue emailed to say they have no record of the deposit being paid! . Just checked and its been debited from my account 2 weeks ago so have phoned them to sort it. Tut Tut! (Does this mean we will get extra cupcakes?)

NY your outfit did indeed sound lovely today. I am the same re asking people where their clothes are from - I tend to stalk them looking for any sign of a label instead!
Amber yey for opaques!
Red I cant wait to hear about your job too! Will discuss potential MIL lurker issue then too!
Portia no problems - we can sort payment on Saturday.

AmberNectarine · 04/10/2011 17:22

Been seriousl consdering a go on Dukan but not sure about doing it while bf...

Top also comes in cream carciofi which I will probably also buy!

portia they are good value I thought, also come in a sort of red Dalmatian which I was also tempted by!

DH nearly had a heart attack when I walked in with an armload of yellow bags - had to point out how wise I had been :) will be sad when the littl'un starts objecting to her shopping trips like DS, where even a trip to Waitrose is fraught with threats and bribery!

notyummy · 04/10/2011 17:36

Couple of ladies on here tried dukan whilst bf and didn't feel great Amber- might be best to wait until at least started weaning so demands on your body not so high?

MarshaBrady · 04/10/2011 17:41

Red Great! Can't wait to hear all about MiC.

Dukan hmmm I can't remember when I started. I know I was still bf'ding but it may have been when it was past six months so ds was eating carbs (at least one of us, in any case).

blossoming · 04/10/2011 18:17

I was having one of those days by 7am this morning! Realised I had to be at work till 5pm, take DS to rugby between 6pm and 7pm and then go to governors at 7pm. Too much. So I baked my birthday cake at breakfast time. At least one thing is done. Not likely to shred though.

DH has done the rugby run though, and umm, my mum is doing DDs bath. So not complaining!

carciofi, great coat, and what a horrible tale. I have walked home countless times after a night out. Have been very lucky that nothing has happened to me.

Those M&S courts, are like my £155 loopy lous! GRR!!

ollie, is everything sorted out now?

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 04/10/2011 18:22

Oh cripes Carciofi how awful! You poor thing. How utterly scary. I have been mugged too, by knifepoint! But not harmed thankfully. Was many years ago now. Horrible stuff. It's become just one of those things I refuse to think about.

Red I hope you are feeling a bit better. It took me a few days not to be jumpy.

PORTIA4 · 04/10/2011 18:43

DD2is 16 today! She went to Rhianna last night and headed back to France on the 6.25 flight this morning, she says that she's really enjoying it thank goodness.

wideawakenurse · 04/10/2011 18:56

Hello All.

Crazy few days at work, culminating in a cardiac arrest this afternoon. Very stressful all round. Have tried to keep up, sorry if I miss anyone.

red sorry to hear what happened, I can understand your jumpiness feeling. Especially as you are new to the area and finding your feet.

carciofi that is dreadful, what an awful thing to happen to you. How could anyone be so violent to a stranger?

Deepleaf Your style day sounds great, and her summary of you sounds exactly like you. Very interesting to hear that there are just items you have never quite got on with, ie the floaty stuff. Also a un-mn hug for you too, your strength of character has been truly amazing. You are an inspiration to your little boy.

*Bloss&, what type of birthday cake are you baking? Sounds like a busy day.

I love that top amber. I know what you mean about dreading the day DC's won't tolerate the shops. I can remember a time I spent ages looking for a peacock brooch for LTEC in Primark once with DS, he was so happy just to snooze in the buggy! Now, its just a quick zip to Sainsbo's!

I finally have a dress for the meet up, bought in the Seraphine store last night in Kensington. Just need to sort shoes/handbags/scarf/VPL nightmare etc.

Off to bath DS, cook dinner, do washing all whilst nursing DH as he appears to have developed typhoid/man flu.

VerityBrulee · 04/10/2011 20:09

ollie hope you enjoy the GBBO finalSmile dd is staying up specially. We can't choose who we want to win, they are all fab!

AmberNectarine · 04/10/2011 20:15

wan try to take it easy (hard with a small child and sick husband I know), glad you found a dress!

How glam are folk going for evening? Don't want to be over/underdressed!

notyummy · 04/10/2011 20:21

Amber- 'Never knowingly undressed' is a W & A motto Smile.

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/10/2011 20:36

Never knowingly underdressed - and here I am Smile

Right so judged weather totally wrong today and whizzed out of house at 7.30am with dc's as DS1 had school trip and I was in white skinnies and bright pink top and hasbeens and it was 14 degrees and raining!

Petit - my eldest also just gone into yr3 and it is a big step - the kit is enormous and we've had first inter-school rugby match was sooo sweet. Oh and look away now Bloss and DLE but seriously I've seen your photos and your hair and make up look fab - do not change them! And wear the colours you love.

So in S&B news I've recently purchased lace dress for dinner with DH when away. Also have the adele top which I believe Amber also has and I love.

And Amber - you are 3 months in - lordy - I was still the size of a house at that stage.

Bloss - happy birthday for tomorrow! And so pleased your return to school is going so well.

Ollie - I want Jo to win!
