Tights Dilemma. What do you think of this?

After MUCH trawling of shops and six returned dresses, I have finally settled on a frock for a friend's wedding. It is navy blue with lots of little mustard colour butterflies all over it. However, as much as I love the dress, it is above knee-length and I HATE my knees. So, I need to wear opaque tights, preferably navy. I would also like to wear some mustard colour shoes but do you think that coloured shoes with navy tights will make me look like Minnie Mouse? Don't really want to wear navy shoes if I can help it.

Or do you have any other ideas? Help!

Ah see, I lurve leopard print. Grin

I will be ble to wear black tights with that one as there is black in the dress. Also just found this one what do you think?

(I know it looks like I'm hunting for mega cheapo frocks but I'm not! Just so happens that the ones I like are in the sale Grin)

I love the Vero Mode spotted one! That would look great with black tights and a pair of heels.

cornsilx · 19/08/2011 23:15

I am loving the tights that tethers linked - roll on autumn!

DocDuck · 20/08/2011 05:03

Look for dancer's tights - they are thicker but are designed to mimic flesh colour. You'll need to look out a specialist shop, though.

The vera moda one is v short Bupcakes but you could wear with black opaques.

I quite like the animal print one so could be worth a try.

I really like your idea earlier up the thread of the black 50s dress with animal print cardigan and shoes....guess you couldn't find the right dress???

BupcakesandCunting · 20/08/2011 13:54

OH MY GOD, bought some mustrd tights today and looked like a frigging Oompa Loompa :(

Have settled on the spotty Vero Moda one with black opaques and some patent black t-bar heels. :)

Thank you all for helping!

Well its so cold here today that opaques would be fine.

Outfit sounds good - now where did you get this fine knit leopard print cardi from please?

BupcakesandCunting · 20/08/2011 14:16

It is cold here too Grin Makes me happy. I can finally get the autumnal clothes out.

Oasis is where I got the fine knit cardigan from although Warehouse are doing one too.

Cool - will have a look - thanks!

I've been trying on winter coats today - honestly its just really worth buying/spending on summer clothes as they get worn so infrequently.

BupcakesandCunting · 20/08/2011 14:31

Oooh I love me a nice winter coat. And scarves and hats. Bring on the winter!

I have terrible legs and would never buy a dress like that vera moda dress on asos.

BupcakesandCunting · 20/08/2011 14:50

I think that my actual legs are OK. They're not the thinnest but I think they have a nice shape to 'em. Kind of. Just my knees that I loathe with the core of my being. :(

You are lucky. I have an okay figure (about an 8-10 hourglass) but the worst thighs on the planet. I never wear anything higher than just on the knee.

Sleepyspaniel · 20/08/2011 15:08

Nude fishnets are definitely what you need. V flattering and its what the stars wear with skimpy dresses. Try them you'll be pleasantky surprised.

Please dont do navy fishnets or opaques. That would look terrble (honestly).
