Evening all!

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 03/09/2011 09:04

Got delivery from La Redoute yesterday and everything is a keeper Smile

Got this in charcoal to wear with Houlis and skinny jeans

This long-sleeved T in grey marl

And this blouse in pale pink. Plan to wear it with skinnies and grey Belstaffs. Maybe I will buy a pair of charcoal winter shorts to wear with opaques and boots.

Good morning from our garden. We have been gallumphing about in the garden for two hours already this morning, messing in the hammock and throwing apples at pigeons. We camped out last night as it was so mild - the garden looked beautiful with lanterns hanging from the willow and candles everywhere.

WAN, so glad you and DH have cleared the air and that things have improved at work.

Red, I think I'll enjoy the movie for the same reasons. I'm not exactly a purist when it comes to these things.

Fritzi, the safety filter on my computer won't let me access La Redoute - I'll have to fix that!

FritziGreenEyes · 03/09/2011 09:45

pickled Camping in the garden sounds magical! Far too cold here at night already...

Have sunny Saturdays everyone!

redllamayellowllama · 03/09/2011 10:27

Pickled that sounds lovely and your garden sounds gorgeous. Will be interested to hear what you think of One Day. I also liked LB, thought it was perfectly pitched and beautifully shot - DH the purist refused to watch it. Lots of good things coming up at the cinema; new adaptations of Jane Eyre, The Help, a passable looking rom-com with Julianne Moore, who I love. Lots of cinema trips to be planned, I think.

So glad you and DH got a chance ton talk WAN and that thinks took an upwards turn at work. Have fun on your viewings.

Fritzi I love every single one of your new tops. Gorgeous.

VB I checked out all of your dresses in Oasis - the red one was my fave. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Bloss your enthusiasm is pouring out of your posts; you sound re-invigorated. Good luck for Monday.

The party yesterday was lovely, I met a woman whose company I really enjoyed and clicked with. I felt i was 16 at the youth club all over again when I couldn't bring myself to ask for her number to see if she wanted a play date or some such Blush.

Object number 1 on my wish-list, after yesterday's peruse, is this Whistles t. Think it would prove most useful. Am also drawn back to the FC dress I was raving about a week or so ago (I'm so fickle) after the burgundy Whistles dress proved to be a little too body-con...

redllamayellowllama · 03/09/2011 10:44

Must check my posts pre-posting Blush

OllieinOrange · 03/09/2011 11:49

Now that DH is in Greece I feel the need to book a holiday to look forward to ! Where's warm and nice in February and not a v long flight away? Would love to go to Cape Town but can't see DS2 sitting on a plane for 11 hours! Anywhere suggestions that are closer to home?

PlumSykes · 03/09/2011 12:11

Ollie, we always end up in the Canaries (4 hours from UK) in Feb. It's hard to find decent weather without a long haul flight at that time of year. Egypt an option, but not sure I fancy it, and have heard good (and some bad) things about the Cape Verde Islands.

blossoming · 03/09/2011 13:11

So big shock last night. Own up, who's bought all the quartz anninas? Sold out online. So I have been to lkb this morning, found one, and purchased! Dh is going to pay me back and hide it for my birthday. And, um, while I was in there I accidentally bought the Davina in tweed. Amazing fit. Positively gorgeous. Should not have tried it on!! Will wear it for my first videoconferencing lesson next week.

OllieinOrange · 03/09/2011 14:43

Fritzi saw these shorts in Gap and liked here Great LR haul - didnt realise they were doing a VB range - some lovely things.
Bloss I can really picture you in Davina. Great about the bag too. You are so going to be the cool teacher that all the girls want to be like (and the boys have a crush on!)
Red I know exactly how you felt about meeting someone you clicked with. You really want to ask for their details without coming across as being too full on and scaring them away! Looking forward to seeing One Day in Oct when it opens here - we have to wait til Jan 2012 for The Help!

Lovely and hot here today - have to take DS1 to his swimming lesson in a little while tho - will be beyond hot in there today. Whilst DH is away I'm going to treat myself to a little something each day - today was 3 large stems of beautiful dark pink hortensia's from the flower stall at the local market!

PlumSykes · 03/09/2011 20:54

Uniqlo's last Jil Sander collection goes live this week, some good coats.

blossoming · 03/09/2011 21:09

I am plesed to say ollie, that I didn't like the lkb riding boots so much in RL.

Bonsoir · 03/09/2011 21:41

Ollie - you can go to Marrakesh in February - though don't stay in the Medina as it will be unpleasant if it rains.

PlumSykes · 03/09/2011 21:53

Bonsoir, did you find DD a coat? Lovely navy duffle in John Lewis.

Well I'm just back from One Day (went to see with my girlie friends) and I LOVED it. Really enjoyable. Obviously it's not going to win the Cannes D'Or or anything, but still a thoroughly enjoyable movie. I found the fashion moments particularly good like Red! Kept getting terrible flashbacks! (Which is fine, till you realise, that in 10 years, you may get flashbacks to what you are wearing today. Yikes! Better be very wise rather than avid!)
You'll find those nametags great Carciofi! Seriously. DD's have lasted 3 years on! They just don't come off.
Bloss your DH is such a good present buyer. I really have to do all future present buying in a supervised way with DH. You should see what he got for my birthday! Whenever he tried to stay off piste, he gets it so horribly wrong. I went back to the jewellers (awful place) and could not find one thing, one thing to exchange it for! Apparently he is getting more stock in the next few weeks for the Christmas season, so I shall peruse then! [ungrateful cow emotion] But I am cross, that he spent unwisely. You are making me want that Davina dress. And I am exactly like you, I know if I ever try it on, I will buy it! It looks so flattering.
For a more budget wise dress how about this birdie Great Plains dress? It's almost in my basket!

blossoming · 04/09/2011 08:29

rufus, that dress looked so lovely I ordered it back in July. It is in fact brown and orange. Billowy up top and tight at the waist. Went back immediately after the zip refused to go up! I was very disappointed.

The Davina on the other hand. Fit like a glove. Half spanx needed though, but when is it not??
Good luck next week annie. Sure you'll be refreshed though after your nice break.
I really love this time of year, as you may have noticed. I really am energized and looking forward to autumn colours and the misty mornings . They are spectacular here because of the lake.

I am downstairs in my new office, MN'ing when I should be having a shower. Roast lamb in the oven. Holidays were great, but sandwiches for Sunday lunch, not quite the same!
Have a lovely day everyone. If I'm back, I really shouldn't be. Lots of work to be doing for next week!

Bonsoir · 04/09/2011 10:35

Plum - thank you for the JL duffle-coat suggestion. Actually I'm looking for a doudoune (duvet coat) - DD had a fabulous Benetton one for the last two years which was perfect in every way (warm, navy, glamorous, right length, washed in the machine...) but is completely worn out and too small.

pickledsiblings · 04/09/2011 10:59

Bonsoir, this is Benetton's latest one. They had some lovely AW things for DDs in their Arezzo store.

VerityBrulee · 04/09/2011 12:31

Plum I LOVE that Jil Sander range, fantastic coats. Like Bonsoirs dd, I am looking for a navy down coat which is proving hard to find.

Rufus I have had a credit note for a jewellers for nearly a year now, still can't find anything I like there. After years of disappointment regarding presents from dh, I now buy them myself. I'm always happy on my birthday now.

Bloss have a great time this week Smile The Davina dress makes me wish I had a job!

Pickled loved the sound of your garden camp-out!

Red I've only seen the red oasis dress in RL, I love the shape of it, and love wearing red in winter, I might give it a whirl.

So grey and chilly today. I am in 60 denier opaques after going out in bare legs and sandals yesterday and freezing. I am still hoping for an Indian summer though!

VerityBrulee · 04/09/2011 12:32

Fritzi I love the Vanessa Bruno stuff from LR, did you see the girls stuff, so pretty.

WAN hope you saw the house of your dreams yesterday!

MarshaBrady · 04/09/2011 12:42

I choose my own presents too Verity. More likely to make me Smile. I remember the first Christmas present he bought me was Cluedo the game. Bizarre.

Had to go to Covent Garden yesterday, so swung by Matches to check out some Raoul stuff I am keen on seeing before buying. And they don't hold it in store, ach. But I did see Amber's Isabel Marant honeycomb jumper. I really like it too. And aren't the Matches models funny these days, with odd poses (and dare I say it, a bit manly looking sometimes).

MarshaBrady · 04/09/2011 12:46

Although it did make me laugh as we in first stages of romance, oddities are sweet back then aren't they? Grin

Accidently bought more wool/alpaca for final shot at Stella scarf (ecru). Then that is it! Hopeless have spent nearly half amount of scarf on wool.

rufus101 · 04/09/2011 14:51

Am skiving. DH is at the All Ireland Hurling Final(Carciofi and Verity will know what that means) and I am supposed to be cleaning the house from top to bottom, rather than the superficial clean, in anticipation of new au pair arriving Tuesday. I want her to think this is the standard! Am sure she will find out my slattern ways fairly quickly.
I really should pick out my own presents, but sometimes he does get it right and it's worth it those times.
If the dress is small at the waist it might suit me Bloss, but not sure about the billowly top. I'm very small on top, but maybe that would suit?
I got a lovely electric blue duffel coat for DD in M and S last year Bonsoir, and it had pink lining with white polka dots! It will do her again this year.

OllieinOrange · 04/09/2011 15:08

Honestly - I swear my MIL can sniff out the smell of shortbread cooking at 20 miles! Just rang and invited herself over in 20 mins as "was in the neighbourhood" (they live an hour away Hmm). Swear she thinks I can't cope if DH is away! Was making shortbread for Mum at school who has just had a baby and neighbours who got married last week in Italy and are off to Australia in a weeks time. Told MIL its not really a good time as boys are v tired and hyper (true) and I'm about to start on dinner but she said she would come anyway! Gah!

Rufus I have been waiting for the GP bird print dress to come back in stock in the roebuck but no luck yet. If its anything like my grey one from the summer range here, it will be v billowy on top. Im taking mine to a tailor this week to try and make it more flattering.
