Evening all!

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 30/08/2011 09:16

amber Last Christmas I got my mum a lovely cashmere cardi. Which she exchanged for a cycling helmet Hmm

IceCreamCastles · 30/08/2011 09:42

That's great verity-must be a weight off your mind. Has he gone with lots of friends or will he have to make new ones?

Thankfully my mil's clothes would be too big for me should such a disaster befall us else I would be dressed from head to toe in various pastel acrylics with matching crocs. Dh would be ok as he gives fil all his old clothes anyway and they look like twins most of the time (worrying)

Sorry about your scarf Amber- hope you find a suitable replacement.

You sound v stylish fritzi- I've gone for jeans and Breton too. Stupidly thought I'd be ok without a cardigan or jacket though- brrrr.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2011 09:50

holy manoly at wearing mil's clothes . Red yours must be far more stylish.

I could my mother's no problem on the other hand (an Italian label I can't recall and agnès b). Poor thing still has to shoo her three daughters away from the Lancôme freebies and looking in the wardrobe.

Verity so pleased it was a good first day.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2011 09:51

lol at various pastel acrylics. I don't really know what my mil wears, I must not consider it much.

wideawakenurse · 30/08/2011 12:48

Oh red I laughed at your MIL clothes post. Scary!

fritzi you sound very chic today. Hope that DDs problems are just a blip for her.

After hearing about fritzi's outfit, I thought I'd report on mine. Clarkes black flat shoes, black ten denier tights, and a very tight size ten uniform that I am bursting out of. But, I have lime juice, so it's not all bad. Wink

OllieinOrange · 30/08/2011 13:00

News Flash...
Ollie returns from shopping trip.

Empty handed.
She must be coming down with something.

pickledsiblings · 30/08/2011 13:06

Verity, pleased to hear that DS1 enjoyed his first day at 'big school'. Hope you got some sleep last night.

Fritzi, DD sounds to be settling in just fine Smile.

Red, go girl with the MIL chic Grin.

Amber, hope your scarf turns up. Could it be in a bag you haven't used for a while or in the boot of your/DH's car?

Icey, how funny about your DH and his dad and their shared style.

Wan, you sound just gorgeous.

I'm catching up on housework today and so dressed in rags.

redllamayellowllama · 30/08/2011 13:19

The MiL was thrilled to see me in her clothes, more because they fitted me than anything else (she has got into being competitively slim and we are currently at the same weight, which delights her). In fairness, it was nothing awful; just didn't suit my age or colouring.

Have you checked your temperature, Ollie?!

WAN I'd love a job with a uniform; takes any outfit planning/choosing pressure away. Do they do a maternity range for nurses Grin?

So glad DS got on well Verity.

Hope things settle down with DD Fritzi. Yur outfit sounds lovely; I am not so in oversized fisherman's jumper (it is from Whistles, but it's v, v casual), very old boyfriend jeans and battered converse. Just couldn't be bothered with getting dressed this morning.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2011 13:33

Today I am wearing Paul&Joe cotton shirt (floral, check type thing), Jbrand skinny legging jeans and Sandro red cardigan.

I am doing work from home and cooking coq au vin for tonight. Having a day at work during the week always makes me feel like this. All comfy and relaxed.

OllieinOrange · 30/08/2011 13:38

Fritzi really felt for you (and DD) reading your post. The first few weeks at school are tough. DS1 didnt make friends for about a month and used to say he played on his own - heartbreaking to hear. I think he expected other kids to come to him so we gently explained he should join in with other children's games. Does her teacher seem approachable - could you have a chat with her to help reassure you?
Icey your de-cluttering session sounds just how mine end up - I get easily distracted!

I'm dressing down today in the style of Red! Grey converse, boyfriend jeans, white vest top, grey fine knit jumper and a grey/white stripe jersey scarf.

Zara has some nice bits but nothing looked ok on. They have lots of coated/waxed skinnies at the mo in all different colours including navy. Also some cotton trousers with zips at the ankle in the style of Agnes. I need to loose some weight before I even think about trying them on! Agree with Carciofi about the sequin dress not being the best quality and I loved the gold skirt - have any of you got yours yet??? They had this feather skirt in too here - looked most strange!

pickledsiblings · 30/08/2011 14:51

Ollie, navy waxed skinnies sound good. Did you try the gold skirt on?

Fritzi, your DD talking about eating lunch on her own reminds me of when DS1 started school. He was a bit over zealous at lunch time and touched his teacher's sandwich Shock whilst asking her what she was having for lunch. Apparently she said to him, in a stern voice, 'you don't touch my lunch and I won't touch your lunch'. He was upset to the point of tears when he was telling me about it Sad. There have been lots more of these types of stories over the years with both DD and DS1 but they will both openly admit to really enjoying school. That is what I meant when I said that your DD sounded like she was settling in fine Smile.

Marsha, all comfy and relaxed is how I would be feeling if the house wasn't such a mess. You are obviously on top of the cleaning - any tips?

Some lovely sounding outfits today, very chic Fritzi and Marsha you sound all slouchy cool and relaxed.

I had no meetings today and most of office is off on leave so going with the casual theme wore navy striped isabella oliver t-shirt dress over indigo jeggings, red suede pumps, navy white company cashmere long cardi topped off with a huge silk/cash grey leopard scarf.

It doesnt feel like august!

Mumsnut · 30/08/2011 18:38

41% off Isabella Oliver today with code SPREE, per the promo section. Didn't someone want that sapphire ruched dress?

blossoming · 30/08/2011 18:58

Hi everyone. Home at last. To be fair I have unpacked and am on my second load of washing.
I bought the Boden swing coat in navy for dd which arrived. She looks adorable in it, and in the stripy, purply beret and scarf set.
One of my favourite things about coming home this late in August us the ton of catalogues waiting for me. Just started with Pure.

Your posts have entertained me throughout the holidays. Lovely to hear from all of you. Glad the pregnant ladies are blooming, hope things get easier for you verity, and hope it won't take too long for your dd to settle in fritzi.
Sitting in my MiL's this afternoon I was praying that no natural disaster would occur and I'd have to borrow clothes a la red!

I'm not going to work with bare legs this week am I? Ah well, autumn/winter here I come!!

wideawakenurse · 30/08/2011 20:03

Funnily enough red they do give you one maternity uniform during pregnancy, and so as it's has to fit you right through to the end it's positivly tent like. Thank goodness I don't need to create the right impression try and find a boyfriend anymore at work. grin

Glad DS's first day went well verity

Glad to have you back Bloss, doubt very much if you will have bare legs at work this week. DD's outfit sounds adorable.

annie there is a CdC on Marylebone High street.

Empty handed ollie? Do we need to check your temp/glands? Smile Very wise that you didn't buy anything if it didn't look 100% right though.

I love hearing snap shots of what people are wearing during the day, very inspiring.

I love coq au vin marsha. Spag Bol here tonight though as DH cooking and so recipe must be minced based as standard. It's just like living with Heston. Wink

Emo76 · 30/08/2011 20:41

good grief ollie that's worrying - maybe keep your powder dry for London trip?!
red your MiL's clothes story really made me smile
marsha red sandro cardigan sounds divine!
hello annie! CDC stores listed on their website, there are a few around town. fritzi and pickled your stories made me well up - of course, your children were/will be fine but as a parent it is heardbreaking...often..

feels autumnal here - black opaques and black warehouse swallow dress and uniqlo cardi here today - not very smart for work but given I had no meetings I went for comfort. I can't do the uber professional image every day it seems!

Ambernj1 · 30/08/2011 21:03

Yes, like Emo your stories made me very sad ladies, hate the thought of your DCs feeling lonely!

Shopping with my mum tomorrow - hopefully will find some good A/W staples and DD will behave herself.

DH out tonight so I have had a virtuous tuna sandwich and apple for dinner. Am craving pear cider for some reason - not ideal when bf, hopefully I'm not pregnant again :)

FritziGreenEyes · 30/08/2011 21:26

Loved reading about all your outfits today. Have to admit I changed from Hasbeensato cashmere socks around lunchtime...

Thanks for all your kind words re DD, very reassuring. DH noticed that I seemed more relaxed about it all tonight Smile.

bloss Welcome back! Fingers crossed for some sunny days in September so you can get your tanned legs out.

marsha/bonsoir Have your Zara gold skirts arrived yet?

Bonsoir · 30/08/2011 21:53

Fritzi - I don't know whether my gold skirt has arrived as I came to England on Sunday and am here all week, whereas the skirt is going to be delivered to my home in Paris! But I have had an email to tell me it has been dispatched from the warehouse.

I hope your DD settles in at school soon! I'm sure she will - and you will soon notice great changes in her behaviour with other children. I find it fascinating to see DD mature socially...

DD and I went shopping for school shoes today: one pair of navy Start-Rite Louisas, one pair of pale pink Hunter wellies and one pair of pink/white Nike trainers. I wanted to find her some tops for school but there was nothing I could contemplate so have resorted to ordering some blouses from Miller at Elias & Grace - has anyone tried them before?

carciofi · 30/08/2011 22:04

Welcome back Bloss. I want a few things from Pure but need a better code than 10% off.

Fritzi and Marsha, I like your outfits. I wore Goldsign misfits, red ballet flats, navy top and a navy weekend MaxMara jacket. Fritzi, hope your DD settles in soon.

No shopping here as I am saving the pennies for the NF parka. I almost succumbed to the Barbour parka instead as My-Wardrobe sent me a £50 off code but Barbour is not included in the discount.

Verity, great that your DS enjoyed secondary school. My niece started as well, my sil was also very worried but she seemed to get on fine.

I quite like this weather, it reminds me of Ireland (weird, huh?). Although I never got to wear my Me and Em dress.

Annie, good luck with ttc and have fun with your family! I am also a White Co pajamas fan for the DDs.

Amber, I lost a scarf when using it as a black out blind for the pram when DD1 was a baby! Now I use an old muslin. Pear cider sounds delish.

I want to lose 5lb, can't decide whether or not to do Dukan or do my own version of being healthy (no white bread, wine or cake Mon-Fri:)).

Ants, glad your DS is ok now, it must have been scary. Hope you have a great holiday.

I am about 8 inches taller than my MIL and she favours the golf style so I hope I never have to borrow her clothes. She loves the Crumpet scarf we bought her.

Ollie, that feather skirt is hilarious. I rarely make it into Zara, I haven't seen the dress.

MrsCB, I love that CdeC blouse. I liked almost everything I saw in there.

My baby has a really cute new trick, she holds her arms up when she wants to be picked up. I thought it was a fluke at first but she did it several times today. Little dote.

ApuskiDusky · 30/08/2011 22:17

Hello everyone, just about to go to bed but wanted to quickly pop in. Just back from Glasgow, after a wedding and then a flurry of lunches and get-togethers with various members of my extended family, had a really nice time actually. Purple Davina worked v well for the wedding.

Many thanks for the continued efforts on my working wardrobe, especially Fritzi - how I wish I could get all of my workwear from Maxmara! I was planning to sort out my work clothes and do more shopping this week, but I have both ds's all week and ds1 is impossible to shop with.

Oh and I now have a plan for my 40th - DH and I are off to the Bath Priory for the weekend. Decided to stay within shouting distance of the boys in case MIL stresses. And I will get my chance to go to a CdC store whilst I'm there!

Sorry, all too much me me, will try to catch up properly tomorrow. The next couple of weeks are going to be crazy though, so I will probably only be able to flit in and out.

florenceuk · 30/08/2011 22:46

it's cold for summer eh? Was in breton, chinos and sandals, changed to jeans and trainers to go blackberry picking and avoid being too nettled. Apple and blackberry crumble, mmm.

Have a question on Houlihans and short people (I'm five ft 2) - have you had them taken up? Do they just look un-cropped?? There are a few pairs on the Outnet if anybody is wondering - blue and khaki.

Also pondering these: ankle boots or these remembering I have tiny feet (size 2) so most options not available to me.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2011 22:50

Pickled not quite on top of cleaning, on top of tidying perhaps as the cleaner comes tomorrow! I really do need that weekly slate clean feeling.

Anniemac I thought of doing something Grin, but hand-knitted stuff takes soo long. I put up a pic (maybe, if it's ok) when done.

WAN haha at Heston. My other fond warm homely food is spaghetti bolognese too, both remind me of home.

thanks Emo! Sandro stuff has been worn so much, I almost can't remember what I did wear before, bizarre.

caricofi love the red, navy combo, very chic. Fab to hear everyone's outfits again. All lovely.

Apuski good luck for next couple busy weeks.

Bonsoir Elias & Grace is good. Only have bought Miller for boys. But seemed fine and nice.

Gold skirt finally made an appearance. And after all that sadly it's not really for me. Now I have to find a way to get it back to the shops. Zara makes it all difficult, the silly sausages.

Early rise tomorrow, going to bed to stare at alarm clock for a bit to will it to and check that it will actually wake me.

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2011 22:51

florence hi! I prefer the second RC ones out of those two.
