Verity I am blaming Cameron Diaz for todays poncho purchase! I watched The Holidays last night (v unseasonal but thats Dutch TV scheduling for you!) in which she and Kate Winslet house swap and CD swans around in gorgeous cashmere jumpers! Good reminder about snowbots - must get the boys some from Next before they sell out like last year!

Marsha I was going to send everyone another PM with a meet up update so will get people to confirm if they are around in the evening to help with
the planning.

Funkee was it a woolly type dress you were after? If so, I think there are some nicer ones out there. Sure we can find something else for you - was it the colour you liked of the Next one?

rufus101 · 22/08/2011 14:58

Love that Barbour Carciofi, and if mywardrobe gave a discount code I'd get it straight away. I am determined to be warm this winter! Which brings me to you Verity! Where did you get the snow boots? And were they very $$$? I keep hearing that this winter is going to be worse, although how they would know that is beyond me! They certainly didn't get it right for Augus
t!
Don't really like the dress Funkee but then I am prejudiced as I know it would do nothing for my pear shape!

MarshaBrady · 22/08/2011 15:00

Fab Ollie, good idea.

Love the poncho. Even the word poncho is great.

FritziGreenEyes · 22/08/2011 17:00

ollie You will be queen of ponchos, like notyummy is queen of maxis Grin.

funkee Sorry I agree with what others said before about the dress. Think we can find something nicer for you! Would go for something simpler.

verity I'm impressed with your snowboots purchase! It's 32 degrees here today Smile.

Think I need to go for a blood test too. I am always soooo tired (and I don't have a tiny baby plus toddler to look after!). Just fell asleep on the couch for 10 minutes with DD climbing all over me.

ApuskiDusky · 22/08/2011 17:11

Lol at loving the word poncho, Marsha! Agree it's lovely Ollie.

Rufus, the wedding sounds lovely, we're off to my cousin's wedding in Glasgow later this week, and I'm really looking forward to it, I haven't been to a wedding in ages.

Right, job offer accepted (yay!), and 4 CVs of immediately available nannies sitting in my inbox (managed to find a v. organised agency), so I am now turning my attention to my working wardrobe!

So far on my 'need' list I have:

one or two pairs of low-mid heel or wedge shoes in black and/or brown that are very comfortable
navy straight leg trousers
one or two work dresses with sleeves, something like jersey, knee length or just above
cashmere jumpers / cardis
brown bag that's big enough to take an A4 file, but not a briefcase

I have a load of Selfridges vouchers and a credit note for LK Bennett.

I'm now going to start browsing, will post for input!

OllieinOrange · 22/08/2011 17:36

Oooh Apuski - congratulations on accepting job. I like your list. Boden has some nice straight leg trousers (cropped navy pinstripe). Think their moleskin ones have v good reviews but not sure if they are worky enough for you?

Maybe try Great Plains for jersey dresses (annoying that you have to click on every dress to see what colour way they have it in tho!)

blossoming · 22/08/2011 18:05

Hi all. Sweltering. Burnt back, scraped knees... You know what it's like.
funky, I have a great black dress that would suit any occasion, £39 from M&S Limited Collection. Will try and link, but it's worth a look at their range.
bustystclair, have you name changed? [suspicious]
Wedding sounds lovely rufus, as do your family. I love a good wedding. Enjoy yours apuski, and well dine on your organizational skills! Have fun shopping. My new work clothes are from m&s, zara, gap, wrap. Oh and a shirt from BR and bizarrely a cowl neck jumper from Monsoon.
Snow boots verity, really? How I loved mine last year! Although this year with my travelling to the 6th form college or I won't get paid I will feel differently! Actually it's a bus route so they keep it open. Hmm I'll take the bus then [green]!
Hi to everyone else, back later.

MarshaBrady · 22/08/2011 18:16

heehee Apuski How exciting to accept the job! And Selfridges vouchers too, fabulous.

happilyeverafter · 22/08/2011 18:25

Funkee I am not sure about that blouse, very poyestery, I think you can find something nicer in your budget. What size/height/shape are you and what colours do you suit?

I like your poncho Ollie.

Congrats Apuski on job acceptance, I really rate White Company for work dresses, I have a few and they wash well and generate many compliments. I looked at some of the A/W range in Selfridges at the weekend and was underwhelmed though, the styling was much sloppier, mine are all very fitted through the top which I prefer.

It's much cooler here today, I have started thinking about my winter wardrobe and getting excited at the prospect of cracking out my opaques and cashmere.

Lovely Barbour Carciofi, it reminds me of the North Face one which I admired on lots of toasty looking women during last year's snow.

FritziGreenEyes · 22/08/2011 19:09

apuski Congratulations! Hope you'll find the perfect nanny soon.

ollie Thought of your chocolate hands today when I got talked into getting my "eyebrows done" while I had a facial. Before I knew it, the beautician had covered half my eyes with hot wax and I now feel and look like one of those naked dogs. DH hasn't noticed so it can't be too bad. Hope it will all grow back in time for October and Vaishaly can rescue my eyebrows for meet up.

funky Can't remember exactly what requirements for outfit are, but how about this if it has to be a tunic

Or this dress (Never thought I would link to Per Una but it looks quite nice I think)

Or this if you want some pattern

Maybe not suitable for the pub? But if Kingfisher suits you it might be great. What is your colouring/hair like?

BustyStClaire · 22/08/2011 19:47

I have not for some years.

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/08/2011 19:57

Funky and Busty - stop taking advantage of these nice ladies [stern]

notyummy · 22/08/2011 20:06

Ferry crossing last night was great - much better than my memories many moons ago. Classy meal in Langhams Brasserie and comfy, quiet cabin. DD loved the whole thing and has been very good on the long drive through Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and now Switzerland!! Boiling hot. Hopefully just 4 hour drive tomorrow and we are there.

apuski contests on the new job. I take it your new role is in a corporate environment- going by your list. Do check out LK Bennet- especially outlet section. Some great bargains to be had. Will link in a mo. Also saw some good stuff in Hobbs the other day. Again will have a look and get back to you. I think I have seen some navy straight legs too....

OllieinOrange · 22/08/2011 20:33

I was thinking the same MrsCB Hmm

Muchus excitement in Ollie's world - have just arranged a trip to London in Sept with a friend who lives here but still has house in London. 2 full days of shopping including my first trip to Westfield! Can't wait.

Fritzi snap re having facial today. My eyebrows were tinted before I had a chance to decline!
Bloss I wish we had some hot weather here. Im tempted to put on my poncho its so flippin cold! Saw a Mum at hockey yesterday and thought of your plans for a B/W holiday wardrobe next year - she had white linen shorts on and a fitted white linen v neck jumper and flip flops - looked fab!
Carciofi I have a longer length down coat and its well worth finding one if you can. Keeps me and my legs toasty!
Rufus loved reading about the wedding. I love the sound of your family!

blossoming · 22/08/2011 20:34

Hi notyummy, I missed you the other day. Have a great holiday!

ants, thanks for the Lkb links. I really like the Olwen (animal print wrap) in fuchsia. May be too much for school though!

blossoming · 22/08/2011 20:47

Sounds like a great trip ollie. Really, that cold though? Still 29C in dd's room here.
We have drunk the first of the CdP bottles. With spaghetti and bottled sauce!
Off to Nice tomorrow. My white dress getting it's first outing!

ApuskiDusky · 22/08/2011 21:53

Ooh, links! Happily, I've checked out White Company and this is possibly an option, I think it's a brown enough grey to work for me (need a cami though).

And Ants, thanks for all those links, yes it is a corporate role - the Kew trousers look great, definitely going to try those, and I'll need to see what stuff is in my local LK Bennett store, as I think my credit note has to be used there. Last time I tried Hobbs everything was too big for me, so will have to see what sizings are like now (them and me!).

The only things I've found are at Boden - so I like this in olive, but it might be too casual. And then this and this are nice shapes but I'm not sure about the colours (or the naff 'Johnnie does workwear' photos).

happilyeverafter · 22/08/2011 22:17

Apuski that dress is great, they had it in Selfridges but it was very brown and I wanted it to be very grey! Found an amazing electric blue pencil skirt in Topshop but they only had larger sizes, am stalking the website in the hope it comes online.

Winter resolution is to buy no black, must stay strong!

AntPants1 · 22/08/2011 22:27

bloss i have that dress in the electric blue

www.lkbennett.com/outlet/dresses/DROLWEN892VISCOSEMIX
