And holy shit it hurts! Shock

Why did I not check on here before?

Looks good but I think I'll stick with waxing in the future.

I m with you ! Results are good but , even in top salons , it hurts so much more than waxing!

UpsyDozy · 05/08/2011 11:34

I've posted about this before!

The handed me the mirror after the first one and I was half expecting the see that my skin had been flayed off! I was in two minds about whether to even do the other one!

It's torture, absolute torture. I would rather go through labour again than have ANYTHING threaded!

mumatron · 05/08/2011 11:54

It's not even just the pain, it's the eye watering! I'm going to a wedding at 2.30pm and I look like I've been crying all morning.

It must make a difference though, as dp has just noticed I've done something to my eyebrows. First time he's noticed anything in 4 years.

It gets less painful each time you have it done (as long as you get it done regularly). You just have to persevere.

TillyIpswitch · 05/08/2011 11:59

Yeah, definitely worst the first time.

HerdOfTinyElephants · 05/08/2011 12:03

If you get it done regularly it doesn't hurt nearly as much. Unfortunately I fell off the threading bandwagon for about two years and now I am scared to go back.

(P.S. if you think having eyebrows threaded is bad, try having your upper lip done...)

AbsDuCroissant · 05/08/2011 12:10

I agree - it freaking hurts. I thought "how bad can it be? i've been plucking my eyebrows for years"

HA.

I recommend dosing up on nurofen beforehand, and it does get better over time. Also, the redness and tears should be gone by 2:30, so don't worry.

mumatron · 05/08/2011 12:16

Just had a bath and put some sudacrem on and they are much better.

Seriously doubt I'll be brave enough to it again though.

I had mine done for the first time yesterday in Superdrug of all places! £5, a bargain! And it didn't hurt at all, which either means I had a v good threader or I'm well hard :-)

AbsDuCroissant · 05/08/2011 12:22

That's what you think now, but once you've forgotten the pain but remember how incredible your eyebrows looked, you'll be back.

nenevomito · 05/08/2011 12:24

What's threading?

SoupDragon · 05/08/2011 12:25

It only really hurts/is eye watering the first time and if you've left it too long between visits.

Very brave to have it done on the same day as a wedding mind you. It sometimes takes a while for the redness to disappear.

I want to try this, and we too have the £5 Superdrug offer, but what's the deal with everyone getting this done in public? There are chairs plonked in the middle of our biggest shopping mall as well as the one in Superdrug. If I'm going to be yowling and gurning while a lady yanks hair out of my face, I want a little curtain at the very least.

QueenOfAllBiscuitsandMuffins · 05/08/2011 12:29

How odd I think it hurts less than waxing, in fact I would be pushed to describe it as pain. It's 100 times better result than waxing.

cantpooinpeace · 05/08/2011 12:36

I've been having mine done for almost a year. Hated the pain but the results are amazing as don't have time to sit and tweeze these days. One year on we've grown my brows a bit as I'd over plucked them in places & now have perfectly symmetrical brows which I never have to touch. Infect I have my 3 weekly appointment tonight and the pain is no where near as bad as it was initially. They have changed the way I look for the better - its the best £7 I spend :)

upahill · 05/08/2011 12:43

Did you pull the skin round your eyebrows tight?

THat makes it a bit more painfree.

When I have my upper lip done I have to push my toungue in the area that she is working in. Brillant trick. Also a good thearpist is fast and it is over very quickly.
Best of all is when she puts the soothing lotion on!!

moomoo1967 · 05/08/2011 12:55

I found it absolutely excruiatatingly painful and I will never have it done again. I would rather pluck them myself. Plus she did them wonky !

upahill · 05/08/2011 12:59

moomoo it honestly sounds like your beauty person wasn't that great.
Especially with wonky brows. That's a bad story.

My friends tell me how nice my brows look so I think something has gone wrong with your expierence.

swingingcat · 05/08/2011 13:02

Never had threading, sorry for being thick but what is it??

Waxing eyebrows makes me cry forever, I'm ok with legs underarms and bikini getting waxed but eyebrows are too painful!

Top lip isn't hairy (yet) but I do have 5 stubborn hairs on my chin!

LadyGaaGoo · 05/08/2011 13:09

ooh yes just had mine done today! Hairy no more!

Left it too long between visits so was a bit ouch! But love the results!...and better than waxing IMO.

FreePeaceSweet · 05/08/2011 13:12

I had it done a couple of months ago. It made me bleed. I was impressed with the results though. I think i'll stick to waxing in the future even though it makes me looks I've got hot pink eyeshadow on for a good half a day. :o

I didn't think it was any worse than waxing and a much better result too. I usually pluck them myself in-between visits
