And holy shit it hurts! Shock

Why did I not check on here before?

Looks good but I think I'll stick with waxing in the future.

The results are so brilliant. I loathe waxing, it never seems to be done with any great finesse or skill.

LaLaLoopsie · 05/08/2011 14:51

Thanks Sedgiebaby - I think I'll give it a go and see how I find it. If I can get through labour, I'm sure I can survive one threading session! :o

krisskross · 05/08/2011 14:59

i had under my arms threaded in vietnam!!!! and one leg from the knee down- couldnt get the other one done as it was just toooooooo painful . i meant to get them waxed but due to language problems ended up having them threaded.......i thought i would just perservere but the leg was the most pain i have ever experienced (and i've gone through 2 labours!). !!!

milkyways · 05/08/2011 15:06

I've been having mine done for about 6 years now and I'm used to it. I always get the best results from threading. Apparantly one eye always waters more than the other - it's the left one I think. You also need to master the technique of pulling your lid down in a specific way so your eyebrow area is stretched. When it's done properly it shouldn't hurt at all as the strokes they use must be fast.

ledkr · 05/08/2011 15:10

it hurt a bit but i could handle iT but cant have a bikini wax. I had them threaded and tinted and it looked amazing.
My threader was asian.

AbsDuCroissant · 05/08/2011 15:17

I want to know where eandamum goes - head massage after threading? For £5? Amazing!

I also like it as the lovely lady trims my eyebrow hairs (they grow to about 2cms long. Not. Attractive) - not something I want to try out myself.

carabos · 05/08/2011 15:20

Threading gets better results than waxing and waxing gets better results than plucking imho. Anything to do with eyebrows is a job for a professional as when goes wrong, it goes badly wrong and very very difficult to get it right again.

Tortu · 05/08/2011 15:24

Yeah, seriously, go to Asian-run salons. I never pay more than £3 (and I think the ladies know what they're doing a bit more)

....erm, I've also had my bikini line and underarms done. I'll admit that was a bit of a struggle and I almost cried, but the woman in the next booth was having her face done (cheeks and chin, poor lady) so I felt like a complete wuss.

SaffronCake · 05/08/2011 15:42

Shhh now, if you keep talking about this it'll hit the mainstream press (like all hot MN topics always do), upon which my ex-husband (oh He of the Monobrow) will realise that all the time he sat back in the barbers while I told him to man up and take it, it was just a bit of cotton, I was in fact being horribly cruel... But nevermind eh. I wasn't gonna spend hours sorting it for him and he wasn't gonna get away with leaving it attatched. Bad me!

jeckadeck · 05/08/2011 15:52

It is fricking painful -- much worse than waxing. So painful I considered abandoning it half way through. Actually the worst pain I've ever had with the exceptions of labour and appendicitis. The results aren't better enough for me to make it worse the pain.

Al0uiseG · 05/08/2011 15:55

It's so much better than waxing for the regrowth and shape. Even the scary botox dr complimented me on my brow shape - coming from someone who wields syringes for a living it felt like a great compliment.

Fuck the pain, its irrelevant.

pommedechocolat · 05/08/2011 16:05

I have had both upper lips and eyebrows done. Amazing results but soooo painful. My eyes water so much. it's like I'm weeping! I always leave 3 months or so between apps as well so never gets better..

miche8 · 05/08/2011 16:06

i've just had my eyebrows threaded for the third time and omg so so painful, i even bleed a little, so sore, this morning the skin is puffy and still sore.

I first 2 times i thought it was excellent, hurt much less than waxing and didn't leave me red. It was the same lady each time, she said its to do with the time of the month....i won't be going back again, bought some new tweezers today.

miche8 · 05/08/2011 16:09

i should also add shes taken too much off the middle so they're not even....clearly she was having a bad day.

Al0uiseG · 05/08/2011 16:10

Thats not good, usually threading doesn't take too much from the middle.

GetOrfMoiSamsungFridgeFreezer · 05/08/2011 16:14

Last time I had it done I went to a Shavata (never again). The girl in there made me bleed, and then coloured my eyebrows in with presumably a sharpie pen. I looked like Groucho Marx.

Had to walk through Bristol city centre with comedy brows, I could have killed her.

Of course I said 'yes, lovely' and left her a tip. Twat.

Henwelly · 05/08/2011 16:17

It does look so much better but holy crap it hurts!!

I find they get the really fine hairs that waxing and tweezering just dont manage.

I particularly like the ripping noise you can hear Shock - doesnt make your eyes water, thats tears that is!!! Grin

garlicbutter · 05/08/2011 16:18

Here's the . I still tweeze mine. If I still lived in Sarf London, I'd be getting someone else to thread 'em, but there are no Indian or Middle Eastern salons here!

AbsDuCroissant · 05/08/2011 16:20

Oh GOML ... that's not good.

So, what's the best gap between appointments? Apparently six weeks (according to my threader) is too long. I'm currently going for "are my eyebrow hairs getting tangled with my fringe? - it's time to go"

brighthair · 05/08/2011 16:28

I taught myself from a video on YouTube. My work colleague also does them, she's literally just done my upper lip

Al0uiseG · 05/08/2011 16:39

I go every three weeks but i have very dark hair which could probably be plaited into my hairline after 6 weeks.

Oblomov · 05/08/2011 16:41

Mine doesn't hurt at all. I have had mine done by 2 different people. Woking Shopping Centre and Blackbushe Market ( would you beleive !!)
If it hurt at all, I would not have it done.
And I have very sensitive skin. Becasue electrolysis, on my chin really does hurt.

mumatron · 05/08/2011 16:41

goml Shock that's terrible. Mine eyebrows are back to normal but I can still hear that ripping noise! I think it will haunt me for a while yet.

OP posts:
mumatron · 05/08/2011 16:42

Mine eyebrows?

Obviously I meant my eyebrows

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiSamsungFridgeFreezer · 05/08/2011 17:17

Lol at mine eyebrows. Very shakespearian. Grin

I love that ripping sound

I tend to go every 6 weeks. I should go every 4 weeks but can never remember.
