Time for a new thread.....

ha ha bloss.

Sorry to hear your news, Pickled. have decided to pump so one handed. think it is`worth it for jetlagged waking.

needingmoresleep as a veteran of these functions I can tell you that Oxford black tie bears no resemblance to black tie anywhere else. You can definitely wear the same thing to tea and dinner if you want - you could change. Women tend to wear cocktail length dresses that aren't too formal, men blacktie.Generally frumptastic so you will shine if you brush your hair, avoid wearing 20 random accessories and/or cape like scarves.

Commedesgarcons · 05/07/2011 14:16

Hello all...wafting in after lovely very spoiling weekend away with DH...spent a lazy afternoon wandering around Cheltenham and bought a lovely overstuffed armchair...1920's reupholstered in striped taupe linen.

Tissues at the ready as have DDs 'leaving performance' at nursery this week. She is beyond excited about starting school. Awwww...

Am wearing rolled chino's, tan glads and white linen fitted shirt. Oh, and new necklace - DH gave me an amber necklace, which is lovely

Carciofi - most men feel like that. DH was like that on all three occasions. I can vividly remember the absolute moments he 'fell in love' with each of his children. It's completely normal I think. You sound like you are doing amazingly well.

Plum - bag is lovely. Have you put it down yet?

OllieinOrange · 05/07/2011 14:27

Back from dentists - had chat about DS2 and his lack of interest in teeth cleaning and on her advice, have got an electric toothbrush for him - an Disney Cars one - sure it will help but know I will wince everytime I have to look at its gaudy appearance on my lovely (muted tones) bathroom!

Thanks for the advice about wisdom teeth NY - a friend said the same thing about not being up to much for a couple of days afterwards.

Must go and do some gardening - hate coming back from holidays to an overgrown mess.

[Grin][Grin] Annie BFing Roary. You can see why I didn't get the job can't you.

pickledsiblings · 05/07/2011 14:32

GrinGrin even Grin

Ollie, my DC love their buzzy toothbrushes. You can graduate on to nice pastel shades after a while.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 14:43

Envious of your outfit commedesg. Howling gale and wind here. Wearing agnes again and jigsaw slouchy white tee. (Constantly wearing variations on same outfit does not apply at home obvs!)
lol at roary's description of academics!

petitdonkey · 05/07/2011 18:06

Amber - Good luck!!

Ash boots finally arrived and I like them which is a good job after all the hassle. Anya Hindmarch (which I always thought was pronounced hind but it's not, it's Hynd) are being rubbish - they have no record of the bag I returned and no real clue about whether or not a replacement has been sent. I was seriously contemplating buying Gracie but I'm too annoyed with them!

FritziGreenEyes · 05/07/2011 18:40

amber Ohhh, exciting!!!

ollie Poor you! Hope your teeth don't cause any problems while you are on holiday. Make sure to take painkillers and combine with red wine for max strength anasthetic effect. Have you decided on holiday wardrobe yet? Capsule or big suitcase Wink?

bloss I have the same Seafolly swimsuit and although I feel a little bit self-conscious about lack of cleavage I love it! Very impressed by your collection. I am thinking about getting the white WC swimsuit Hmm.

roary Tell us about Saks!!!

needingmoreslee Welcome! Cannot offer any advice but went to a black tie Oxford reunion do a couple of weeks ago and most women wore frumptastic classic knee-length dresses. Do you have something you can wear or do you intend to buy something new for the occasion?

dexter Your link makes me wonder if I have the same facial expression when out and about with DH while he is constantly fiddling with his blackberry Shock. I think I want a pair of Jalouse boots though!

Made a quick detour via H&M today at lunchtime and bought a nice pair of chinos and shorts. Both very thin and soft cotton. I also saw some Houli- and Agnesalikes in Zara but didn't try on. Oh, and Hush has up to 70% off sale. Hope there are some pairs of PJs left for me.

AntPants1 · 05/07/2011 20:11

Good luck Amber!!!!

Red have their sale on. Lots of lovely bags....

Just thought I'd mention it.......Grin]

roary · 05/07/2011 20:16

Hi!
Saks was fantastic. Free lunch, which is a good thing, as credit card tired. shopper is exactly the same age as me and was great.

I got http://www.nanettelepore.com/bottoms/savage-girl-skirt.html this skirt
this DVF dress in navy
this tahari dress which is spectacular on

roary · 05/07/2011 20:23

Also: ikat scarf from here. I think it is L and L of New YOrk.

and this blouse but with purple flowers

And another spectacular tahari

And some other things but I am getting embarrassed now. White CoH jeans and indigo J Brand mid rise skinny legs. Needless to say I am not going to need to buy any clothes for a long while but I feel great - all of this looks fab and has inspired me to clear out some less exciting things.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 21:29

roary what a brilliant day and what amazing buys. Thanks for linking. That must have felt like something out of a film! Pleased to see while looking at your links that Saks are doing international shipping now. Tempting indeed!

blossoming · 05/07/2011 21:35

OMG. £146.92 including shipping and all duty/taxes for a pair of indigo pencil leg J Brands. It's good. Especially if you know your sizes in these brands.

roary · 05/07/2011 21:36

Bloss it was great - a bit tiring though!! I noticed while the shopper was out getting a new size that she had a post-it on her computer saying her target sales for the year were £2 million, and she has an assistant (!!) so quite astonishing that it's all free and quite low pressure. I think it would be impossible not to buy though as they choose some lovely things and you'd feel like a chump.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 21:42

These are the same, and cost £205 on NaP

My gamble re buying the grey dress from Next has not paid off at all - lovely colour and looks great from the front but terrible from sides and back - there is so much excess material at the back it looks like a superhero cape so back it goes.

Roary sounds like you were in shopping heaven and got some great buys. Almost worth booking a flight to NYC!
Cleverything thats funny about your friend. Was she getting stressed about it? Are you going and if so, what are you going to wear?
Comme I like the sound of your WE, Cheltenham is a lovely place to browse. I've been looking for an armchair for our bedroom for ages.

What's everyone doing today? I have a haircut and taking DS2 to the Drs - noticed that when he walks, he is rolling his ankles inwards so want it looked at. MIL coming over to look after DS1 who is now in a huge strop about not coming with me.

OP posts:
herecomesthsun · 06/07/2011 08:21

this is quite a good reduction, although I don't need any more boots personally...(Ash Jeffs)

notyummy · 06/07/2011 08:25

roary - that sounds like an AMAZING shopping session. Am very envious!!

Bloss - sorry to hear your weather still rubbish. Been quite nice here, but I suspect sunshine and showers now the picture so must have brolly wherever I go.

Ollie - Sorry to hear about the dress, but you sound Wise!

Pickled - Was sorry to hear about your job application. It is hard putting yourself out there, and each application is so time consuming (bitter memories....) however you are so personable, confident and positive that I genuinely think you would be an asset to any organisation - just got to find the role that fits your background I guess.

Loving the outfit commes.

Right off to a series of meetings involving driving round the East Midlands - back later!

MarshaBrady · 06/07/2011 09:03

Anniemac thanks! How are you doing? Don't worry about being inventive with wardrobe. I resurrected a Marc Jacobs yellow dress the other day by putting aqua loose knit over top and with belt. I felt very summery! And pleased that a dress I have given up on was still useful.

Pickled not even a sniff of a dispatch email! Going to take ages I think.

Roary great shopping, lovely stuff

MarshaBrady · 06/07/2011 09:10

Oliie good luck with doctors and Mil.

Today I am mostly getting annoyed with painters, cleaners and so on. Tardiness! Very annoying.

petitdonkey · 06/07/2011 09:40

Marsha - loving the sound of your yellow and aqua combo!

Roary - Amazing!! What a fun shopping experience you lucky girl!

Ollie - I've done that with a few things from Next this year, kept two dresses but haven't worn them and fear I won't.

Going to Take That today!! So excited but can't decide what to wear due to rubbish weather. Think I will go with black Agnes. I ordered the tan LK Maddox weeks ago in store, DH has gone over today to see if they have arrived, if not, I may wear the turquoise.

pickledsiblings · 06/07/2011 09:43

NY, thank you for your lovely words of support. I keep seeing jobs and thinking NY would be good at that Smile. Have fun in the East Midlands.

Roary, fab shopping, what a treat. Hope the pumping is going OK. Who are you with in NY (I've forgotten)?

Ollie, good idea to get these things checked out at the Drs. Pity about the Next dress. Today I will be embarking on my new 'career' which will involve lots of time in front of a computer screen (until DS2 back form nursery anyway).

Have a good day y'all Smile.

AllBuggiedOut · 06/07/2011 09:55

Ooh cleverly can you share a pic of your toes please?!

roary what a fabulous trip. I particularly love the tahari top.

These J Crew trousers are a bargain. I bought a pair full price (they come up a little large, I'm an 8-10 and went for a US4). The stitching down the front is very flattering and they hold their shape pretty well. I'm buying again for when mine fade [avid] yet [wise], surely? Wink

Like that Gap skirt notyummy. I may have to order... Am also waiting on a coule of dresses from Outnet (one likely to be too small, the other too big. I never learn...) and two jackets from NAP. And my Boden order has finally dispatched. Hurrah!

DS3 at pre-school this morning so I really should be Getting On With Stuff. DH has roped me in to do his book keeping which is good because he pays me, but dull and I don't really understand what I'm doing. Also house is a tip. Maybe after another coffee...

MarshaBrady · 06/07/2011 10:02

Pickled I meant to say sorry about the job, lovely. I am sure the right thing will be there for you.

Petit thanks! felt quite icecreamy.

Ah ds wants me. Back later.
