Time for a new thread.....

On a S&B note - the Grey printed Great Plains dress my Mum brought over for me is not a keeper - really lovely colour and print but the top half is really billowly and not flattering at all. Gutted - esp as its outside of the refund period so I'm stuck with it. I wonder if a tailor could fix the problem tho?

Red I love, love, love the DVF dress (sorry!)

Bugger -just gone to order the GP bird print dress in brown as an alternative to the grey one and its sold out in all sizes - must have been featured in a magazine or something? Its going to be one of those days!

Morning all!

Horrible news to wake up to this morning - brings shame on my home city!

Another horrible thing to wake up to was the fact that like a fool I had put my new red Topshop 7/8ths in the wash and now a lot of stuff has a pink tinge to it. Sigh. I blame sleep deprivation!

DS is off to nursery today so the baby and I are going shopping!

Have a lovely day

P.s. red I love the Whistles dress!

PlumSykes · 09/08/2011 08:59

That would be lovely, Red. Shall we fix something up for when the children have gone back to school in Sept- I can't think straight until then. How's Brizzle working out?

notyummy · 09/08/2011 09:11

Morning all.

I hope all of you who are in London are feeling ok and are able to function normally. Can't believe what is happening tbh. I always feel so proud to be British when I visit London because I think it is such a great city and I love the huge mixture of people who have made their home there. It saddens me so much that communities are being destroyed by a few hundred individuals who are damaging the prospect of economic growth in their areas for generations - areas that are probably most in the need of it. No inward investors will look at them now, and there is little government money to go around. (Sorry - that is the partially the 'day job' talking....)

Good to hear from you PLum.

Sorry to hear about the dyeing incident Amber - so annoying when that happens.

Red - That Reiss dress is v va va voom!

Am sulking slightly with a sore back having done something to it whilst 6W6Ping yesterday. Will have the day off exercise today I think - just some stretches. Have a day off work tomorrow to spend with DD. Lots to do - she needs a pre-holiday hair cut, some school shoes, and we have to buy DHs birthday cards and wrap his presents.

Still not got my bargain skirts that I ordered . Want to try them on to see if they are a possibility for Big Glaswegian Night Out.

PlumSykes · 09/08/2011 09:19

Grrr! I know, in the grand scheme of things, it's no biggie, but have just pulled out my lovely new Cos tomato-red cashmere jumper, which I have only worn once, and it's got a bloody great moth-hole in it, right in the front.

Off to Johnnie-Loulou I go for more moth-repellant.

PlumSykes · 09/08/2011 09:20

Ollie, can you ring GP and ask to go on a wait list for returns?

blossoming · 09/08/2011 09:39

Morning everyone.

I have just caught up with the headlines too and am sickened by what I've seen. Just reiterate what red said about all you lovely London ladies and your families, and hope you're all okay.

It's great to see you around again plum. Are you still blogging?
The snakeskin Anna is gorgeous isn't it? Dh will be buying me the Annina for my birthday in early October, so I shall be twirling it in the meet up! It's always good to have a plan I think!

I don't think I like the pussy bow blouse anymore! I am frantically searching for the receipt!

red, I like the dvf too, although that's not great surprise, as I have 3 of her dresses, and they always work, for every occasion. Have you looked at the sales site, there are some good reductions there usually. I can't remember what colours suit you though.

Thank you ollie for taking charge! I shall pm you my thoughts later!

blossoming · 09/08/2011 09:43

For example, this is gorgeous red.

redllamayellowllama · 09/08/2011 11:05

How annoying plum - have you tried cedar nuggets? They seem to be working for me. Post-holidays sounds great.

I had the GP dress in white ollie and ended up ebaying it for the reasons you mention. Shame as it's a lovely print and has gorgeous detailing. Good luck for the coming week!

Of course you all love the dvf - should never have included it! Really though, it is way out of my price league, so will need to be forgotten about. I love the one you linked to bloss, but am after something long-sleeved.

Have fun shopping amber - will you be buing new whites?!

Very astute analysis NY - i'm so distressed by it all and remember too well the level of antipathy and lack of moral code amongst the smallest minority of my classes.

carciofi · 09/08/2011 11:54

Ollie, maybe your parents will visit and you can get out (can you tell I have cabin fever here?!). Could you please also keep me in the loop about the meetup and I will try to make it. DH will be working most weekends until end of October as he has a big release. Not the time to mess up.

Verity, lovely bag. DD1 is always talking about the seals in Howth.

Red, I also like the DVF but the Whistles is a close second.

Bloss, I am with you on the planning. Great bag. I am currently saving for a Mulberry but no doubt I will get bored before I get the cash together.

I had a nice afternoon planned, I was going to get my hair cut and go to Richmond but the babysitter cancelled grrr. I will put the £50 I have saved on babysitting towards my winter wishlist and go to toddler group instead !

VerityBrulee · 09/08/2011 16:53

I'm stunned by what's happening in London. Hope all of you stay safe.

Just back from the zoo, saw some pretty shocking outfits!

Red I love all your dresses. So glad your move has gone well. I read dh your post about your lovely new street, wine club, book club, etc. We both laughed, very different to where we live! It's a lovely area, but no community spirit, and our neighbours are not the type I'd like to spend a lot of time with. Your area sounds idyllic Smile

Carciofi sorry about your babysitter. I know it's the few hours alone that keep you sane. Still, more money for spending.

Ollie there a GP concession in HOF, I'll look out for your dress. Which size? You are great to organise the MU. I'd love to get there this time having been thwarthed by bugs last time. Will see what I can do!

Plum we had an infestation of moths, about 10 jumpers nibbled at, I have become a very neat darner! I washed everything, hoovered and cleaned out wardrobes and drawers and have been using cedar balls, so far so good. I could have cried when I discovered them though.

NY hope you have a lovely day with dd and a great trip to Glasgow.

Waves to everyone else, off to cook dinner Smile

Ambernj1 · 09/08/2011 17:49

Just seen that MaxMara and Matches in Wimbledon Village have been targeted by rioters - come on ladies, own up...

MarshaBrady · 09/08/2011 17:54

Noo Amber that is bad!

FritziGreenEyes · 09/08/2011 18:29

I am shocked at what is happening in London and seems to be spreading throughout the UK and just hope that everyone is safe!!! I even turned on the TV this morning which I haven't done for years.

DD's first day at reception today Smile Her teacher is lovely. Lots of Mums in business type suits and heels. I wore navy houlis, breton, trench and silver Blochs and felt good.

PlumSykes · 09/08/2011 18:34

Bought this blazer today, to replace beloved Kookai one that has died. Was in town with DS and my mum, so not much real shopping time, but did spot a few goodies in Zara. Am now itching to get back in tomorrow on my own to have a proper look.

OllieinOrange · 09/08/2011 18:52

Nearly time for a new thread - would someone do the honours?!

I feel so bad for the Londoners caught up in the riots - my sister and all her colleagues who work in Paddington have been sent home at 4pm. Big respect for all those people who turned out today with brooms etc to help the tidy up tho here

Plum I love it when you drop in for a chat. Any shortbread left?! I love slouchy blazers and know exactly what you mean about itching to get back to the shops - alone!

Emailed Great Plains and they said the bird dress will be released again in the next few weeks so thats good (will order the long grey cardi then too)! Thank you anyway so much Verity for your kind offer and am so pleased that you can make the meet up - will be lovely to meet you.

M&D have been here for 36 hours and have yet to make a cup of tea or help clear the table..... They keep talking about the riots too and now DS1 is too scared to go to sleep in case something happens in our street. Grrr. Am taking Mum out for the day tomorrow but it does feel like I am forcing her to go - she said she would be quite happy staying home. Carciofi am going to ask that they have the boys on Friday morning so I can nip out for a few hours - I will have earnt it!

Nearly all gone, Ollie! DD is doing a drama workshop this week, and falls on the biscuit tin when she gets home in the afternoon. Am determined to avoid buying too much junk, so am near constantly baking.

You know, I usually wish I still lived in London at least once a day, but not today. Hope all you city gals are keeping safe and not too scared.
