Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:

ollie For us it is of course Nivea sun cream Smile. The smell reminds of summers when I was a kid.

blossoming · 04/07/2011 17:29

Those of you looking for work trousers, I bought these last week. They just arrived and are absolutely beautiful, but too big. My normal size is luckily back in stock so have reordered.

blossoming · 04/07/2011 19:20

The seafolly swimsuit in cinder arrived. Incredibly it gives me a waist, it shows off my shoulders and my legs look nice and long in it. Highly recommended for shredded apples.
So, knowing realistically that I'm going to be sitting in the toddler pool all summer holidays, which would not be a good look for me in a bikini, these are my 'sexy' swimsuits:
Seafolly in cinder (great colour on me)
white company ring insert in black andwhite.
miraclesuit in navy from last year.
Very happy. And I think I may be a happier bunny on holiday now that I've got that sorted!

Hi all!

Back after a frantic weekend - no pics of the ball as yet but wil post a couple after friends email them to me. Was a great night, involving lots of food and wine, fairground rides, hot air balloon rides, Abba Gold tribute band and scantily dressed ladies on stilts....something for nearly everyone!! Great frrock watching - from some full on gypsey wedding style right through to v short and tight hooker chic (on a bottom that really wasn't designed for such things - miaow!!) Some really lovely ones though.

Managed to pop into an outlet place on Saturday morning and bought www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=57384&vid=1&pid=834195 in the true navy wash for £12. Good buy as I can get away with it for work (as long as no formal meetings). Sizing bonkers though - US size 6 far too big in the waist, so could have gone for the 4 - but didn't want to rely on staying this size to fit into it, so have gone for the 6 and will just pull it down so it is a hipster style Grin.

Loving all the jeans buying but am staying strong after the £12 fix!

Good luck Amber.

Hope things are ok carciofi. It is hard - and I think a lot of men find it tricky too at this stage. DH was amazing really, but he did admit to me that he wasn't enjoying it until she smiled back at him!! He had been prewarned by his best mate that they are 'a bit rubbish at first but look up at 6 weeks' Hmm

blindassassin · 04/07/2011 21:28

Yes meant to wish you all the best Amber. Look forward to hearing news of the next W & A baby

OllieinOrange · 05/07/2011 08:02

Morning - we have haircuts and dentist appointments for DSs today. Iphone and deep breaths at the ready....... I may be in a heightened state of anxiety when I return later Hmm

Nice swimmers links bloss. An unshredded apple here may need to try...!

notyummy · 05/07/2011 08:15

ollie - Meant to say that I was sorry to hear about your teeth. I have had all of my wisdom teeth out at various times and its not much fun tbh, however I have also been in a lot of pain with infections etc, so needs much. My top tip would be not to plan much for a few days afterwards and get a big bag of frozed peas in - nice and flexible for wrapping in a tea towel and holding against cheek! I had to attend a function (work related and utterly unable to get out of it) the day after I had one of my bottom ones removed and my face had completely swollen up on one side so I looked, erm, interesting. That said, with the right painkillers I didn't actually feel too much discomfort. It is worth it in the long term!

notyummy · 05/07/2011 09:13

Ooh - meant to say, am wearing my new Gap dark denim pencil skirt to work today with stripey top and wooden wedges. Feels good!

dexter73 · 05/07/2011 09:19

Is Jools wearing Jalouse boots? They look very nice!

Ambernj1 · 05/07/2011 09:29

They do look like Jalouse although the sartorially redundant commentators below don't seem to agree that they look great! Just wish I the the legs to carry off below knee dress with mine! Love the DM website for the balanced viewpoints!

Back off to hospital for CTG monitoring this morning as baby has been a bit quiet of late. They may decide to induce today, eek! Am 2cm dilated though so fingers crossed I won't have a long labour ahead of me this time!

Will

Ambernj1 · 05/07/2011 09:31

Oops posted too soon!

Will be relying on lots of exciting links for entertainment through the hospital tedia (and the new issue of Grazia) so keep posting ladies! :)

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2011 09:33

Amber good luck! how exciting, big stuff.

Assassin I too shall be wobbling on the edge, I'll let you know what they are like!

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2011 09:34

I just read the comments, how funny! I didn't even blink at ankle boots with sundress.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 10:02

Best wishes for today Amber. I'm annoyed Heat wasn't out when I was at the shop just now!
Where are you off to emo? Simplybeach.com have such a good selection - and next day delivery.
Loved reading about your weekend notyummy. You manage to find good stuff in Gap!
Hope all goes well at the dentists ollie. DS lost a front tooth this weekend. He looks like a cross between nanny McPhee and Gareth Thomas. He cannot wait to go to rugby tonight and frighten the opposition!

Hello all
In NYC - Saks appointment is this morning!!!!!

Just a quick wave. Annie hope the domestic management is not still getting you down. NY sounds like a fab party. Carciofi yet another DH here who has wobbles over babies but is brilliant as they get older.

Don't you all think that sometimes we forget that men have to make an extraordinary adjustment to the arrival of a new baby? My DH once wisely pointed out that I was physically restricted by pregnancy, had constant reminders of a change in life before it happened and he skipped out all of that, which does ease you in a bit....fortunately he has a very good friend who has 3 kids who told him that he might not bond instantly and that it was fine, he would be fine. I think he found it harder the second time around though as DS and I were in hospital a long time and he felt like he had to direct al lhis energies to DD.

Speaking of which DD is apparently asking for me constantly (this is the first time I've gone away, other than hospital with DS) and I am having a bit of a wobble about what to do with BFing DS. He is 15 months, I could stop. I have the pump with me but it is not working and will need to run out and get batteries now otherwise the decision will have been made for me. I am feeling a bit torn especially because we are about to go to Australia and BFing is brilliant for jet lag but I do want to stop soon anyway. SIgh.

needingmoresleep · 05/07/2011 13:03

Sorry to butt in - I'm new to all this! Pickledsibling suggested I asked for advice. I'm going to a gaude in Oxford on Friday. It's a black tie dinner at 7pm, but it starts at 4pm with a tea party in the college cloisters. I don't know who might be there - I'm being brave and going anyway(!) but I'm not sure what I should wear. I've got a black dress for the dinner and the organisers have said that some people wear their blck tie outfit for the tea -party. There is a little time to change between tea and dinner. What do you think? Should I wear by black dress throughout or should I be finding another dress to wear to the tea party?

blossoming · 05/07/2011 13:19

Welcome needingmoresleep. It would be a great opportunity to wear different outfits. John Lewis have 5 pages of tea dresses here. Great reductions too. Worth a browse?

notyummy · 05/07/2011 13:24

What will the weather be like? Might be a bit hot in a black dress on a summers day? Depends what the dress is like really. Should only take 5 mins to change if hair and make-up is done already...?

Grin at Bloss and 'a great opportunity to wear different outfits'. I love all your swimwear but the mind boggles as to how you are going to decide which one to wear when. However, knowing you Bloss, I'm sure you have a plan.

So, I didn't get the job Sad. DH is so supportive and said it's their loss, I'm tempted to agree with him. I shall view it as a lucky escape, as, true to form, my ridiculous optimism as kicked in and I have a 'new' plan that I am soooo excited about. It's a bit of a solo venture though so I may be seeking company at any opportunity. When is your mini meet in London Bloss?

Marsha, have the shoes arrived? Just do not stand next to me when you are wearing them 'else I shall be gazing at your navel. They are a great colour for you. Glad you are getting on well with the decorating.

NY, looking forward to photos of the ball. It sounds like a lot of fun. Your critique made me Smile.

Roary, SAKS!! I can't believe it. Looking forward to your updates.

Ollie, commiserations about the teeth and bravo for doing gold star work on the thesis Smile.

pickledsiblings · 05/07/2011 14:01

That reminds me Annie, about breastfeeding Roary, I found that I could stop for a few days here and there if needed but that it didn't really affect my supply. You could just pump if it gets uncomfortable and do the odd bit of squeezing/massaging in the shower/bath. It is definitely great for travelling as Annie says.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 14:04

Annie breastfeeding Roary??!!
So sorry you didn't get the job pickled. The right things happen at the right times. Great if you could meet us in London on the 29th.

blossoming · 05/07/2011 14:07

Also, meant to say pickled, I will need one for the morning, and one for the afternoon! A different one for the beach than for the pool. I see swimwear as 'outfits' as I wear them so much on holiday. So can't be wearing the same one two days in a row..!
