Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:
Emo76 · 06/07/2011 10:13

roary that's a awesome haul - and I bet so much cheaper than the UK!
pickled here's to the new career!
ABO I am tempted by those trousers
bloss and roary nice find re Saks international shipping

I have totally overshopped this and last month, but still have hol to go on and still on swimwear hunt. Must focus!

Feel sooo tired at present - DD2 wakes bright as a button at 5am and is now crawling so quite tiring. Fell asleep in a meeting yesterday (admitttedly a very boring topic) ...oops! Not feeling too inspired at work but it's an awful stock market so I don't think many in my industry are!!

Enjoy the hairdo Olly - going for any dramatic style changes?!

John Lewis are about to start delivering to The Netherlands (and Germany too Fritzi). For only 7.50 pounds.

I can't tell you how hapy this makes me. My life is complete Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 06/07/2011 11:30

ollie That is good news!!! How did hairdresser's and doc's appointment go?

roary Wow! I want to go to Saks too Smile

cleverly Great outfit for your friend's wedding and wise choice to wear Hasbeens.

petit Have fun at the concert tonight!

I missed my Wrap delivery and can't pick it up from the post office before tomorrow lunchtime, grr...

blossoming · 06/07/2011 11:35

Brilliant news ollie. Love John Lewis. They have bought a local hotel overlooking the lake just for their staff. Wish they'd take over one of the empty shops as an 'outpost' though!

OllieinOrange · 06/07/2011 11:51

Am so happy! Just been looking at the site and I like this Hobbs jumper here. I've always thought they would be a good company to work for Bloss.

Also - The White Company has its new arrivals online here

Fritzi haircut went well thanks. She graduated my bob more and it def has given it more shape.
DS2 has flat feet apparently. Medical advice is to do nothing but continue buying quality footwear (for him - not for me ha ha!)

I really need to crack on with the packing but keep putting it off. Hate it. Think its harder knowing we are taking the car so dont have to limit myself to a couple of suitcases. I'm thinking 4 pairs of jeans (2 blue 2 white) is overkill!

Hello All.

Sorry that I have not been posting much - just really busy here and have not been feeling too well myself over the last few days. I hurt my back at work and have been having some dizzy spells and feeling one degree under. Think that DS has probably brought a bug home with him.

Sorry if I miss anyone out, have been lurking and reading when I can.

Amber Good luck - hoping that as I type, things are happening for you.

carciofi sorry to hear that things have been a bit difficult - totally understandable. That lack of sleep in the first few weeks is akin to torture, and pushes the best of people to their limits. Glad that things appear to be getting better though, and we are all here for moral support.

pickled sorry about the job, I can understand that you are feeling very disheartened. Agree with NY though, it's like a jigsaw and eventually the right pieces fit together in the end.

ollie Yay to JL! You made me laugh about the footwear though. Nice try. Wink

Bloss Thank you for the swimwear links. I love, love that pewter coloured one, looks like it gives an amazing shape.

clevery Your outfit sounds lovely, and very wise to go for the Hasbeen's in grass is involved. You will look stylish and elegant at the same time.

Roary Your links are beautiful - sounds like it was a fantastic experience. You have bought some real timeless pieces there.

Sorry about the weather bloss, it's odd here too. Last night it tipped it down for hours, ended up getting a cab home from the train station in the end.

Thank you for all your suggestions about a dress for DH's birthday. I managed, via the lure of rice cakes for DS to try on the Davina dress today. Very, very flattering and would be a good classic buy, but just wondering if it's a little conservative? I love the shape it gives me though.

Popped into R&B to look at the sale, not much though and certainly no ballet flats. The glads that were popular from there last summer are down to £59 from £89 though if anyone remembers them.

bloss I have just bought some spelt flour and going to try out some baking with it. Thought it would be good for bloating. You like pitta's with it, if I remember?

Are we still on for a mini London meet up at the end of the month?

Roary very impressive! New York must be very lovely.

Gah I keep being given work, never ending! I kind of want to say no, but it's hard to isn't it when freelancing. Have other stuff to do damnit.... Oh well will just think of the new parquet flooring I can get.

MarshaBrady · 06/07/2011 13:02

I shouldn't really be crabby about work but need more sleep right now and have a load of parties this weekend, 3 nights in a row and two days.

Fleecy dark brown boots here. Could they be they? Are they bitter enough, semi-gloss enough, really narrow in calf? hmmm. How are you doing?

blossoming · 06/07/2011 13:11

Lovely boots marsha. Yes, where is fleecy?

I am not reading any more of roary's posts Envy Wink.

wan I still haven't worked out my bloating but white flour is one culprit. I make spelt bread regularly now and freeze it in slices. I had run out this morning and had a normal piece of traditional wholemeal bread which was absolutely fine for me, just the spelt one will keep you fuller for longer. DH came home the other week at 4pm as he was heading for London. He had a spelt pitta with roasted veg and leftover roast lamb, and was so full he didn't eat again till next morning! That is not like him.
I don't eat pasta any more, just the brown rice pasta from Dove's Farm.
I still bloat sometimes. Can't figure it out.
And 'yes' to 29th July meet up.

MarshaBrady · 06/07/2011 13:31

I only have to look at a carb and bingo

Meet up still sounds lovely, not sure what days I am working on yet. Will it involve a swish place and bubbles? Probably not huh as the children will be with us. I have forgotten everything, ach

petitdonkey · 06/07/2011 13:37

Roary - 'I'm going to speak to a UN committee' Shock!! Well, I've just skipped out from a very important Balamory viewing don'tcha' know??! Seriously though, I'm very impressed and it really does make me think that I might need to think about returning to work at some point - I just have no idea what to do. Glad you're having a great time amongst the working.

WAN - I have the Tina dress which is a similar shape and I always feel great wearing it - last time I tried it on I wondered about shortening it to make it feel slightly less conservative, maybe that would work for you?

While I was having my wardrobe clearout, I also decided to shorten a couple of White Company dresses that I loved last winter but always felt that they were mildly frumpy. I'm only 5"4 so I don't know why it has taken me so long to figure out that maybe I should alter things more. Now to find a good dressmaker...

Good news is that AH have finally got back to me and replacement bag should be here tomorrow, yay!

blossoming · 06/07/2011 13:55

petit, I'm off to visit the dressmaker this afternoon, and taking 2 dvfs with me. They are both a good length for 4 inch heels, and are therefore hanging unloved in the wardrobe!
marsha, yes, with my dcs at least. Picnic? Any good parks? With toilets?

roary · 06/07/2011 14:14

Petit it is not nearly as impressive as it sounds and I am going to take that post down as it makes me sound ridiculous!! :) The UN has hundreds of committees....most of whom don't accomplish much!

wideawakenurse · 06/07/2011 14:31

I am ashamed to admit that after reading roary's posts, I have googled flights and hotel prices to New York. I am on annual leave very soon, and so have just spent a happy half hour planning a pretend 3 night solo trip. I even googled which restaurants I would go to.

I am such a loser.Blush

FritziGreenEyes · 06/07/2011 14:45

roary I love your account of your fabulous trip to NYC! I imagine myself saying something like ?my imaginary friend roary who spoke at the UN yesterday wearing her new dress her personal shopper picked for her at Saks met Larry David at restaurant XYZ" Grin.

DD just got invited to an impromptu playdate which means I have 2,5 hours of unplanned free time. I wanted to do some tidying or lawn mowing this afternoon but think I might change my plans and have a glass of iced coffee and read the newspaper. Smile

ollie Your haircut sounds great! If you are going somewhere warm and sunny, you don't need four pairs of trousers. I would pack rather less than too much and if there is anything you need, just go shopping Grin.

bloss I am so pleased for you that you can make your DVFs to work for you. Would have been such a shame to get rid of them.

petit Are you going to ebay some of your clothes?

I am a bit obsessed with the DoC's Canada visit wardrobe Blush. I think she wasn't well advised for her outdoorsy trip though. Would have preferred coloured skinny trousers/chinos with skinny belt plus cotton shirt and proper ballet flats.

FritziGreenEyes · 06/07/2011 14:47

wan I once spend a whole morning at work planning a three day trip to Tuscany to go to the Prada outlet with one of my colleagues. We both knew that it would be highly unlikely that we both would get time off but sometimes you need a little escapism!

FritziGreenEyes · 06/07/2011 14:48

... "female colleagues" I wanted to add, just in case you are wondering.

wideawakenurse · 06/07/2011 14:54

It gets worse. I just decided not only what I would wear for the flight but how I would need some Brora socks for flying plus a big cosy cashmere scarf. Just looked up the prices aforementioned items. Blush

FritziGreenEyes · 06/07/2011 14:57

wan It is always good to be prepared, you never know Wink

ReineDeSaba · 06/07/2011 15:38

Hi Everyone..thank you all for your good wishes for july 4th..have not been around as on 2nd period post DD2s birth and has been highly unpleasant, don't know if it's all the hormone shock but been vomiting and the pain seems worse than I remember.

but getting off track..was a great turnout for picnic and super fun.
fritzi forgot to do many photos but will make sure do better for thanksgiving.

carciofi sorry you had a row on your anniversary..great that you and your DH communicate so well..helps a lot when babies bring new stresses!

OWW a woo!woo! for John Lewis arriving in Holland!

emo how is your bikini hunt going..how about this bright

have to admit DHs friend owns the company but nice looking things

roary what can I say ..New York Envy Grin that will be my first trip without dds for sure(go frequently with them and will no doubt not be able to go there without them once they are teenshoppoholics!

ReineDeSaba · 06/07/2011 15:39

marsha having workmen around drives my bloodpressure through the roof..don't get me started on making them cuppas with 2 children under my feet..fab.u.lous Bottegas..yummy!

ReineDeSaba · 06/07/2011 15:43

pickled sorry about the job but sounds like you are a consummate optomist..part of my dilemma of jobhunting is I am afraid of the emotional rollercoaster it involves and my already low self esteem(re-work)

ReineDeSaba · 06/07/2011 15:45

which reminds me..what line of work were you in previously petit

and finally mrsjuan sorry about the terrible 2s..I find 1-2 hard..I don't seem to have enough eyes, hands or patience for the monkey business in our house at the moment!!
