So, should I be panic-buying loads of coral coloured stuff or what?

Right so I got my colours done on the weekend (!) and I'm a bright/clear spring and to cut a long story short one of my really good colours is that pinky orange/coral that is about a lot at the moment, or flamingo pink, or a peachy pink. Coral, basically, is what it tends to be called.

Since then I've seen shedloads of coral coloured stuff about, much of it in the sale or about to be. Its possibly passed me by before now but I suspect it has been one of the season's "fashionable" colours - or is it always about of a summertime? Hmm Confused

Anyways. I've never been attracted to it on the hanger particularly but it does make me look 10 years younger and light up my face and make my eyes pop out in a good way and generally make me look like there's life in the old girl yet. Obviously there are lots of other colours that also looked good but none of them quite made the lady draping me and her other victim client's jaws drop to the floor quite so much

So is it a temporary thing, will this colour dissapear for approximately a decade till it comes back in again, or is it always about a bit in the summertime? If not, I guess I should buy a few key pieces in the size I ought to be my size? Confused

Thanks ladies! I managed to get one of me in the garden when the sun was sort of half out so check that out - you'll have to "view Tatty's Photos" for that one as its on my gallery...it shows how warm it is.

KristinaM · 12/08/2011 11:25

I agree, tatty, that warmer lighter colour is lovley on you. Not sure if you could go too red though as your skin is quite neutral i think. Not that i know anything about colours really.........

Btw this thread is inspiring me to get my colours done soon.or shoud i say get draped. ( embraces the wank). Suspect i am soem kind of spring. The kind tnat looks ill in yellow or orange and looks boring in beige or muddy pastels

On paper i sound like a summer (navy blue eyes, mousey hair high lighted blondish) but i look better in contrasting colours than in several shades of teh same colour. And i dont look anything like all these summers on teh gallery that soemone linked too, where they were all pink skinned soft brunettes. My skin is yellow (even in the winter). Nearly every foundation i have ever tried looks chalky pink on me

TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 11:32

You don't sound like a spring to me at all Kristina but I'm no expert.

I don't think there's a Spring alive who looks wrong in yellow and orange.

Nor one with actual proper mousy hair.

You might simply be a high contrast version of another season.

But you never know!

OP posts:
TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 11:36

Kristina - maybe a clear winter or light summer in the 12 blueprints type analysis. Ah who knows...you'll never know unless you are draped and even then you need to know your best colours so go for it!

KristinaM · 12/08/2011 11:38

Really? I though blue springs couldnt wear yellow and ornage? Confused

Dorothyredboots · 12/08/2011 11:38

I'm a Blue Spring and yellow and orange are some of my worst colours tbh. Truly the only way to tell is get draped - it's all about the subcutaneous fat layer, ya know. Luvverly.

KristinaM · 12/08/2011 11:40

I know you are right abonut the best colours thing. I think i am ok at avoiding my worst colours IYSWIM but not sure i am always wearimg my best ones

Suspect i am avoiding some through prejudice. I so identify with that " not terracotta!" thing Grin

KristinaM · 12/08/2011 11:41

Dorothy, in that case she should be draping my tummy and not my face

TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 11:43

Hmmm - fair enough.

Like I say, not an expert...

Its just such a yellow hued season but that might not be relevant...

Ladies I just found this and have decided I am definitely "romantic" according to their description. So I'm going to work on that basis in the meantime whilst I move towards a style day at some point...

I think what is confusing is that there is no warmth at in my hair. I was naturaly blond until my 20 s and hightlighted since then. My own colour is now dark blond with a few greys.

But my skin tone is yellow, even on the bits that never see daylight IYSWIM

In the summer when i have a tan and my hair goes lighter, i can wear colours that dont suit me teh rest of the year. I have to change my lip colour

Then in autumn when myntan fades and my hairdresse fixes my over bleached hair, i have to alter my clothes and make up. Am i a freak?

TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 11:51

Yes. Yes you are. Grin

I'd love to know what you are when you do get done!

I've got to get my Drivers Licence photo done soon.

Do you think if we petition Downing Street we can get them to insist that the DVLA do a licence background that isn't that icy pink colour? Confused It seems heavily weighted towards summers and winters. A nice spring-friendly Oxford blue or Aqua would be more flattering, I feel... Hmm

Lol at tatty. Good link. I am amused at other women being threated by your sex appeal

Jewellery - i can wear gold and silver. Im weraing gold now as im just back from hols in greece ( brags)

In the winter i wear silver more

That deosnt help, does it?

TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 12:02

am thinking we might need a private facebook group for the regulars soon - i'm dying to see the rest of you and how you're changing your hair/make-up but i can't put pics of myself on here as i'm way too scathing about my inlaws honest on my antenatal thread to ever revel my identity on here Grin

who would be up for that?

am particularly desperate to see how dorothy has mastered spring!

tatts your hair looks really warm in the natural light, any more and it would start to enter red territory - not that would necessarily be a problem for you, i'm just sayin'.

from those descriptions i'm def a romantic too and def not natural, ingenue or gamine. my consultant mentioned that she could see elements of classic in me when she did my colours and others often say i always look well-groomed etc - but i don't feel like that at all, i focus loads on make-up, colours, jewellery and the overall effect but i don't like looking too 'put together', i prefer a more relaxed, boho kinda look.

CakeandRoses · 12/08/2011 12:10

i feel like there's a category missing tbh, there should be one that's arty/quirky/off-beat/boho. not that i'm 100% that but i def have elements of it

KristinaM · 12/08/2011 12:14

Tatty, how could i be jealous? As a classic i am the epitome of elegance and refinement Wink

CakeandRoses · 12/08/2011 12:17

tatty favour please - can you look at my pics again and tell me if you think the scarf i'm wearing in the new pink is ok for springs or not please? it's brighter than the swatch ones but i don;t think it's bluer - does that mean it should be ok?

TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 12:24

See I manage it slightly differently Cake in that I put photos up but namechange for anything bitchy or controversial (not much really to be fair - couple of social things that happened to me and an inlaw rant once) so that my profile stays "pure" enough that it never really matters if I'm spotted on here, if that makes sense! Have never revealed my "real" name on here though or my children's names so people would have to be clicking on my profile to clock its me unless something really sounded familiar I guess...

I think I could stretch to a private facebook group though Grin

Yes, its very warm, I'm not sure I want to be quite as warm and light as this forever though...that said I doubt I have the choice, I'm not sure how I'd recreate this colour at the roots! I think I could happily go a shade down in terms of brownness, which would tone down the warmth slightly. It might be that the Light Chestnut brown colour will be just the one. I do like a fair bit of vibrancy and shine about the colour particularly in winter - hmmm.

I feel there is a category missing too Cake. I too have elements of the arty/quirky/boho. Nothing too ker-azy but I come from a creative background and I've always favoured less typical approach to well, lots of things.

Dammit I'm going to have to do a style day soon. Did someone say something about swimsuits and underwear or something? Arghrrrrrrrrr

OP posts:
TattyDevine · 12/08/2011 12:29

Seen the pic - I love the scarf, it looks a warm pink in the pic so fine, and I dont think a spring can be "too bright" so as long as its not a cool pink I think you can't go wrong. Does it "blend" with your swatch wallet if you hold the colours up next to it? If it doesn't look out of place then I bet its fine Grin

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 12/08/2011 12:39

cheers tatty, yy the pink does flow well when i waft my swatch near it Grin

i always thought that bright pink suited me so was surprised when it wasn;t in the drapes/swatches

i was just thinking about your colouring whilst showering Confused and think you'd look great in red or a bright pink lipstick/blusher - esp now you have warmer hair - it would be great to bring out the more constrasty/bright side of your colouring

and yes, for the style day you have to wear something that shows your body like underwear, leotard etc Hmm i'm not sure what's worse, that or having to go make-up free to the colour class

i come from a bohemian/creative background too and so being a bit of a hippy chick seems more natural for me than the grace kelly/jackie o type of classic styling

your approach to mn anonymity makes sense but it's too late for me - i've said too much on too many threads to try for discretion now!

sooo, anyone else up for a fb group?

PussInConverse · 12/08/2011 12:45

Lurking w intent Smile and would love a private fb group.
Think I'm a spring, and classic according to the link below. Can't be doing w frills and flounces!
