There are 30 days in June. Who wants to do the 30 day shred every day this month?

TattyDevine · 31/05/2011 21:06

Right, ladies its that time of year one has to get shredded. There are holidays, there are barbecues, there are weddings to attend. One has to look good, and one has to undo any overindulgence of attending said events.

So I will be doing the 30 day shred every day in June, unless extraneous circumstances prevent me, these being:

Loss of life or loss of limb;
Illness involving either puking or high temperature;
Velcro-baby (i.e sick child keeping one up all night or similar shenanigans)

Any other excuses will not be tolerated.

Is anyone else in? You must check in daily to say you've done it and you may post your weight loss or inch loss weekly if you feel inclined. Plus wax lyrical about how shredded you feel and how hard your bottom is and how you can't really lift your arm very well or it shakes like a leaf but it doesn't matter because you can fit into your least mumsy swimsuit.

See you tomorrow!

Christ on a bike.

Day 1 done for me - came to it late (excuse is I have pharyngitis)

But those sideways lunges. I could hardly even coordinate myself.

itsababslife · 03/06/2011 16:56

Day 3 done here. 2nd day of level 2 and gone from 1kg to 2kg weights.....I'm a woman on a mission! - It's our first jolly abroad in years in August and I must wear a bikini on the beach....can't be offending those nice Spanish people with my acres of flab!

2 yr old DD joined in with a few lunges last night, but mostly ran circles around me squealing!

Off to the dark ages for the weekend so no posting until Monday but will be taking the shred with me Smile

WhatsWrongWithYou · 03/06/2011 17:12

You're on exactly the same day as me, itsa. Very impressed at the 2kg weights. I find the shoulder raises a killer with just 1kg, but can see I'll probably need to go up soon as it's amazing how much stronger you get each time.

I could do the walking press-ups today - result!

I do find those abs moves weird, though - can't remember what she calls them - where you lean on your hands and swing your legs across. I get all hot and sweaty and feel the strain in my shoulders, but have no sensation of working the abs at all. Maybe I'm doing something wrong....

SomersetBelle · 03/06/2011 18:33

I'm done. And I managed every single bicycle crunch today! Feeling very smug. And sweaty.

LeChatRouge · 03/06/2011 19:44

Off to do mine now - am aching a lot today. I have an office job, am definitely using muscles I wouldn't normally over exert.

I used to push a double buggie up a hill every day and with a toddler sitting on the hood bit - can't imagine doing that now!

Right, back in 20 minutes (unless I pass out).....

roundthehouses · 03/06/2011 19:52

i plan on doing 10 days at each level, whoneedssleepanyway, but i think last time i did it I moved up earlier than 10 days. I am not sure it matters too much as long as you just keep increasing the effort you put into it.

LeChatRouge · 03/06/2011 20:15

Done.

In.

Good grief.

actiongirl1978 · 03/06/2011 20:23

That's me too.

Am dead. Heading for the sauvignon blanc and blissful relaxation!

I really like chest flies and I have a 2kg weight. Am I doing them wrong?!

LeChatRouge · 03/06/2011 20:33

I don't mind chest flyes either, I like the burn.

I still hate the skipping. I have to do 8 facing one way, then turn to face another way to do 8 more and so on.....count them out or I just can't do them.

Not sure the knot in my stomach at the bicycle sit ups is 'fear leaving my body' like she says, more my abs screaming nooooooo mooooorrrre.

toastandmarmiterocks · 03/06/2011 20:39

ha ha! LeChat, its not fear leaving my body, its me struggling not to puke with excertion!!
I do find the chest 'pies' quite satisfying Smile

DoingTheBestICan · 03/06/2011 21:04

Right thats me checking in,just done & it was a bit better today,i can definitly feel a change in myself & i have lost 4lb & i'm only on day 3!

I do prefer to do my shred in the morning though.

LeChatRouge · 03/06/2011 21:10

I know toastandmarmiterocks - that is the killer section. I am mentally chanting 'one more minute, 30 seconds.....'.

I am encouraged by those that say it will get easier....

I do have willpower, so that's handy. Also a 'pooch', motivation in itself.

ApuskiDusky · 03/06/2011 21:32

Done - albeit a slightly modified version - I wore inappropriate shoes today and got blisters on the soles of my feet, so the cardio sections needed a bit of amending. Did quite a lot of boxing!

DilysPrice · 03/06/2011 22:09

Done! Level 1, Day 2

As usual I was feeling awful after the first strength section, but I got into it, and even managed nearly all the Side Lunges Of Despair.

And I did the last set of cardio with my 1kg weights, which I'm quite proud of.

TattyDevine · 03/06/2011 22:12

Hmm not to brag but I've been using 2kg from the start with not too bad burning or soreness...I think pushups give me more jip the next day than the weights.

That said I do have 2 young children who are both quite heavy - one is 14kg and she's only started walking in the past couple of months, and needs lifting several times a day, I think I might be reasonably strong because of that perhaps, as I was thinking of getting some 3kg weights.

I think I will move up to level 2 after the weekend...which will probably kill me!

NanAstley · 03/06/2011 22:53

Day 3 done. I'll probably take a break over the weekend to give my body time to recover. Will be back in earnest on Monday Grin

Flossie69 · 04/06/2011 08:08

OK, can I join in, even though I am starting late? Have just done day 1 on Level 1 and found it ok, but I haven't got any weights yet! Can I ask where you ladies got yours? And what is the best weight to get?

I will definitely be a morning person, getting it in before DD (1yr old) wakes.

PS the boxing moves are def my fav, lots of pent up aggression got rid of :)

dearprudence · 04/06/2011 08:35

Forgot to check in yesterday but I did do it - had to do in a hotel before going to see Take That.

DoingTheBestICan · 04/06/2011 08:41

Checking in,done day 4 of level 1,the burning in my thighs has stopped now & i am just left with a slight tightness which i can live with as i am convincing myself thats my muscles toning up.

I think i will do 10 days on each level,i am also trying to lose some weight so i have cut right back & only eating breakfast, lunch & dinner,no snacking & since i started this i have lost 6lb now.

I am so motivated right now, just thinking of my holiday in July.

Good luck everyone else who has theirs still to do.

Flossie69 · 04/06/2011 08:50

And will I need to keep upping the weights, or do you get to a certain level, and then just maintain?

bogle · 04/06/2011 09:24

eek - didn't manage yesterday but will def do today I promise. (just not at the mo as I'm in bed drinking coffee and reading paper/MN)

WhatsWrongWithYou · 04/06/2011 09:27

You can get weights at any sports shop, Flossie - or department stores often sell them. I'm sure I've seen them in TK Maxx as well.

I use 1kg atm as that's the size I already had, but I find them too light for some exercises (too heavy for some of the L2 ones though!).

They're not horrendously £££, so you could start small and build up as and when.

Just done Day3 Level2. Not too bad, had to drop the weights for some of the last strength session, but the plank jacks are getting better.

Very Envy of the 6lb weight loss, Doing - I've put 2lbs on! I've given up sugar and white carbs since Easter, plus no snacking, but I think I've deliberately subconsciously increased the portions as I have a mortal fear of hunger! Plus a bit of wine's been creeping back in this week Blush.

toastandmarmiterocks · 04/06/2011 10:19

I'm shredded!! Day 8 and although the routine is definitely more manageable the new weights I bought (2.5kg x2) mean the side lungy things are killing me!! I think I'm beginning to see my body changing though so that is fuelling my motivation.
Don't phone it in ladies!!! That is NOT part of the programme!!

stopthelights · 04/06/2011 10:20

Signing in. Day 4 accomplished Grin. Still channeling Anita tho' Blush - I need to step it up to Natalie.

Megatron · 04/06/2011 10:32

Well the DVD arrived this morning. Jillian looks terrifying so I will have a wee glass of wine tonight while I consider taking the cellophane off. But I gotta tell ya, I'm a little scared.
