There are 30 days in June. Who wants to do the 30 day shred every day this month?

TattyDevine · 31/05/2011 21:06

Right, ladies its that time of year one has to get shredded. There are holidays, there are barbecues, there are weddings to attend. One has to look good, and one has to undo any overindulgence of attending said events.

So I will be doing the 30 day shred every day in June, unless extraneous circumstances prevent me, these being:

Loss of life or loss of limb;
Illness involving either puking or high temperature;
Velcro-baby (i.e sick child keeping one up all night or similar shenanigans)

Any other excuses will not be tolerated.

Is anyone else in? You must check in daily to say you've done it and you may post your weight loss or inch loss weekly if you feel inclined. Plus wax lyrical about how shredded you feel and how hard your bottom is and how you can't really lift your arm very well or it shakes like a leaf but it doesn't matter because you can fit into your least mumsy swimsuit.

See you tomorrow!

I am posting with the intention of shredding tomorrow. Wanted to do it today and yesterday but my back has seized up from an old injury and can barely walk let alone shred. Will do it first thing, going to try and do what I can, maybe without weights just for tomorrow until back is sorted. Like whoever's suggestion it was upthread to put exercise gear at end of bed, it will mock me from there until I do it.My back is always better when I am exercising regularly, I should have no excuses really.
Georgie, I did a week before and I struggled with my knees too, I think it's the lunges, I had to adjust how I did them, to not bend as much.
I am 10st 5lbs, want to be 9st 10 by August.

I am also booked in to do the 10k race for life in July, stupidly signed up for it moths ago, have barely done anything to train for it...thinking at this rate I will be walking it with DD in her buggy rather than running.

roundthehouses · 03/06/2011 07:03

okay i am due to do day 5 today, am only using 1 kg weights tho as its all I have, think I will get some 2kgs ones to use for the remainder of level 1. I am not really dieting, have cut out bread and am eating more salad than pasta but still having about 4-6 biscuits a day so would be good to cut down on those. At the same time I am only 3months post partum and still breastfeeding so am going to be kind to myself Grin I have about a stone to lose.. though I prefer kilos (5) as it doesn´t sound so scary!

Blackduck · 03/06/2011 08:38

'Don't phone it in' :)

GColdtimer · 03/06/2011 08:45

I'm done. Easier today. Marginally.

Roundthehouses, it's early days yet so be kind to yourself Smile. I am 15 months post partym and have about the same to loose!

toastandmarmiterocks · 03/06/2011 08:53

I'm done. What a difference weights make. I'm on day 7, have been using water bottles instead of weights. Finally managed to buy some yesterday, I'm using 2.5kg x2 and they have really made me work. I thought I might be able to move up a level by day 10 but I'm not so sure now, I had to seriously modifiy my side lunges, ie just do one weight and keep stopping to tick off my squabbling DDs!!
Why is there not an absolutely shattered emoticon??

blabalalalablabla · 03/06/2011 08:55

Day three done here.

Agree - easier than day two. I think that last time I did this I did it in alternate days so I got a day to recover in between - as I want quicker results I'm going to stick with this thread and try and do every day minus a rest day.

Re: weights - I use a mixture of 2lb and 3lb weights depending on the exercise. Probably need to get a higher weight for some of exercises though.

I was slightly put off by my neighbours cat watching me from the kitchen door and you could just see what it was thinking :o

Good luck today fellow shredders.

TattyDevine · 03/06/2011 09:23

Morning shredders.

Well done to those who already have.

I'm having a leisurely coffee and breakfast first, will do it mid morning, as we've nowhere to go until half 2 and my darling children didn't wake me up till half 8 so I'm taking it nice and slow. I love half term! (ha - when its almost over anyway)

Day 3 done. I've worked out what the shiny trolley thing is in the hallway - it's a resuscitation unit.

virgo1979 · 03/06/2011 09:28

Right, I will start it today (better late than never). I already have the DVD from previous threads, but its DS first birthday party in July so would like to be a yummy mummy in all the pics [vain emoticon]. And the fact that he now sleeps two hours in the day from 11-1 means I dont really have an excuse......never done it before so will report back, unless my fingers ache too much to type.

DoingTheBestICan · 03/06/2011 09:30

Well i havent done my shred yet as we had a lie in today & my hairdresser is coming this morning.

I will do mine later on this afternoon,my thighs are still aching a bit but its a nice kind of ache iyswim?

Well done to us all for sticking with it,& keep popping back on Jillian Grin

WhatsWrongWithYou · 03/06/2011 09:47

Day 2 level 2 done - hurrah!
Just hope my back isn't crippled again like last time.

Was reading missmakestuff's post; I have a mild scoliosis of the spine which makes me really cautious about exercise, although, like you, have realised it's the best thing for it. When I re-started the Shred this time, I really only put in about half the effort Anita was doing (basically phoning it it), but it only took a few days before I could do it properly.

I reckon you're allowed to phone it in if you have a physical problem, or have never exercised much. Better than not doing it at all. < gavel >

missmakesstuff · 03/06/2011 10:32

Thanks for the judgement in my favour whatswrong I am marginally better this morning, so going to just bit the bullet and do it - will definitely be phoning it in though!
I have a disc problem, so it gives me really bad nerve pain, its been great for months, at least when I am doing regular exercise, I was doing couch to 5k and shred, but then had a few manic weeks at work and just didn't do anything, so it seized up.
So, hoping this will give me the motivation to get on with it. Just going to try and move for 20mins, at the least! Just hope Gillian isn't watching somewhere...

georgie22 · 03/06/2011 10:36

Checking in early today - feeling very virtuous following my early shred! Not sure it was a good idea to do it pre breakfast as felt a little faint. Struggled with my arms as it had only been about 12 hours since doing Shred yesterday. Anyway pleased it's done for today especially as it's so warm already.
Have a good day fellow Shredders!

NanAstley · 03/06/2011 10:41

Both girls woke up late today which is such a rare event that I decided to take advantage and slept in till 8. Yes, 8am is a lie-in for me Hmm. Anyway, this means I'll have to shred in the evening after dh gets home.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous today, not a cloud in the sky. I'm off to a bbq with friends and their children, looking forward to it. Also, very perversely, I am also looking forward to the shred Hmm Who would have thought it, eh?

stopthelights · 03/06/2011 11:03

Day 3 complete Smile Still got that pooch though - not sure if even Jillian can work her wonders on that. Feel much better for the exercise and, bizarrely, am not so hungry when I exercise regularly Confused. Does anyone else feel like that?

roundthehouses · 03/06/2011 11:17

well done all!! day 5 done.. followed by intense blitz of upstairs am now officially knackered. I dont know if i am less hungry but i do know i lean towards healthier snacks when i´ve exercised, and drink more water.

come on body show me results!

Grin

go go GO to those still waiting for their slot to do it today, you´ll feel better for it, you know you will!

TattyDevine · 03/06/2011 11:58

I'm done!

Angry

I'm not angry, but my face is red...

LouMou · 03/06/2011 12:03

Day 3 done.

Bought new lady baby weights for this time round. At least using this lot don't make me want to cry when those side lungey things are coming up.

SomersetBelle · 03/06/2011 12:18

:) MissBeehiving maybe you're right! DH reckons it's a BBQHmm.

missmakesstuff · 03/06/2011 12:32

I am done! Day one for me, but I feel really good, although I definitely phoned it in on the jumpy stuff, didn't want to push it with my back. However, seeing as whenever I lay down DD jumps all over me and squeals in my face, I feel as If I did twice as much on the abs. Can anyone work out how many calories I may have burned whilst doing bicycle crunches with a 14mnth old laying across my wobbly belly abs?

Going to try to do it properly tomorrow, amazing how much looser my back feels already though.

basingstoke · 03/06/2011 14:08

Yikes. Forgot to check in yesterday. Well, done then and done today. It's easier now for sure, and I am liking the three short circuit thing. How long are you supposed to stay on each level? Because I can manage the moves at level 1, but there are some odd looking contortions during the credits that presumably come in the other levels, and I'm not sure about them at all...

DilysPrice · 03/06/2011 14:23

I've done day 1, but missed yesterday due to lack of time. Will do today defo. I like the idea of a June shred pact.

First time I've done it since I found out that Jillian prefers the company of ladies - previously I assumed that she flirted with "her girls" purely for comic effect but now I'm seeing it a whole new way.

daisie4 · 03/06/2011 15:03

Oh can I join - bought the DVD about a month ago due to another thread. I've just done day one today - didn't realise how long 20 mins could feel like - and walking up stairs afterwards....! Can't do tomorrow as camping but hopefully will be back Sunday.

For those further ahead than me - when does it feel easier?

whoneedssleepanyway · 03/06/2011 16:12

I am done here! At what point do you move up to level 2...

DilysPrice · 03/06/2011 16:48

Daisie, the horrible truth is that although the first and second days are usually the worst it should never get much easier. If level 1 starts to be less of a struggle then follow Natalie, up your weights and move on to level 2, then repeat the process. The whole point is that it's meant to challenge you every single day.

I apologise for demotivating any beginners but the upside is that it really truly works (second time through for me so i can vouch for this) and it will make you stronger - it feels great to master the difficult exercises, do full strength press ups and sprint for a bus without getting out of breath.
