There are 30 days in June. Who wants to do the 30 day shred every day this month?

TattyDevine · 31/05/2011 21:06

Right, ladies its that time of year one has to get shredded. There are holidays, there are barbecues, there are weddings to attend. One has to look good, and one has to undo any overindulgence of attending said events.

So I will be doing the 30 day shred every day in June, unless extraneous circumstances prevent me, these being:

Loss of life or loss of limb;
Illness involving either puking or high temperature;
Velcro-baby (i.e sick child keeping one up all night or similar shenanigans)

Any other excuses will not be tolerated.

Is anyone else in? You must check in daily to say you've done it and you may post your weight loss or inch loss weekly if you feel inclined. Plus wax lyrical about how shredded you feel and how hard your bottom is and how you can't really lift your arm very well or it shakes like a leaf but it doesn't matter because you can fit into your least mumsy swimsuit.

See you tomorrow!

C'mon georgie - have you done it?

travispickles · 01/06/2011 23:10

I have just started but was meaning to do it every other day for two months. Does it have to be done every day??

basingstoke · 01/06/2011 23:12

Oooh - me! I did it today (with the DC, 7 and 9). OK now, because it's half term, but I will need nagging once I am back at work.

Bellebelle · 01/06/2011 23:26

I'm in too. Started on Saturday, did Sunday and then got sickness bug from DD2 on Monday night, only recovered properly now so starting again tomorrow. My thighs have only stopped hurting today after the weekend, going down stairs was a serious challenge.

DH was teasing me mercilessly about having bought a workout DVD (he still goes on about the Geri Halliwell Yoga DVD I used to have) but he gave it a go on Sunday night and to my great pleasure found it really hard. He's doing it every night too but his superior fitness is showing through (he runs marathons) as he gets no aching muscles afterwards. Still very smug that he found it hard though after the ribbing he gave me.

Good tip about iTunes as was trying to work out how I would do it when away with work.

I hate the side lunges.

30 days until my first beach holiday (when not pregnant) in 4 years - bikini here I come!

iEmbarassedMyself · 01/06/2011 23:33

I know this may sound ridiculous, but does anyone elses
chest/breasts hurt when doing the jumping jacks/skipping? Dh doesn't believe me but I swear, my breasts are nearly winding me.

georgie22 · 01/06/2011 23:43

Done it! At the 11th hour but still on 1st June! Managed it despite not doing it for 2 weeks - did notice the old joints creaking and cracking a bit though. Will try to do it earlier tomorrow.

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep ready for Jillian tomorrow!!

DoingTheBestICan · 02/06/2011 07:32

Can i join you all? I bought this a few weeks ago but only started yesterday,i am a bit sore in my thighs today but i am determined to see it through.

Just off to do todays.

toastandmarmiterocks · 02/06/2011 08:43

I'm shredded for the day. I HATE skipping... and iEmbarrassedMyself I wear a super supportive sports bra otherwise I'd have your problem, I always think my boobs are just going to swing right off!!!

Managing to do it early mornings whilst the DC are on half term but don't know how I'm going to do it before the school run??

TattyDevine · 02/06/2011 08:46

Welcome all new recruits.

Girls we definitely need sports bras - I got one after I did this for the first time and I wouldn't be without it for a routine like this.

M&S do a very good DD plus one for larger of boob - This bad boy and honestly they barely wiggle even during start jumps in that.

Isn't it amazing what a bit of regular exercise does for eye bags. Yesterday was actually my 3rd consecutive day and looking in the mirror today, under my eyes are completely flat and firm. Wow! And I love the skin glow you get - okay its a bit red at first but an hour later and you just look glowing, and that healthy flush lasts througout the day.

So this is what all those fitness fanatics have been on about Wink

I'll be doing mine late today as I have 2 things on to kill off half term so once I'm back in for the day at about 4pm I'll have to race through it. Don't want it hanging over me and have to do it tonight once the chillies are in bed...

Star jumps I meant - aka "jumping jacks"

DoingTheBestICan · 02/06/2011 09:07

I know what you mean about that healthy glow,i know its only my 2nd day but my skin does look better.

But wow are my thighs hurting now.

Bellebelle · 02/06/2011 09:19

Definitely can't do the shred without a good sports bra, I'm an E cup and have a great shock absorber one which makes a huge difference.

I shred in the evenings, can't do morning exercise for some reason, makes me feel nauseous!

roundthehouses · 02/06/2011 09:31

day 4 done! its really encouraging doing this with you lot, hopefully we´ll help keep each other on track. I also wear a good supportive bra but lets just say I don´t have too much of a problem with jiggling anyway Grin

first 2 days were pretty hard, today i still had my mental "don´t wanna, don´t waaaannna" moment but actually found it fine. Its what I love about this dvd, its so broken down you only need to get through 2 mins, 1 min, 30 secs at a time workout by workout. love it!

blabalalalablabla · 02/06/2011 09:42

Ooh - there are lots of us now!

Day 2 done - it was infinitely more difficult today as I forgot just how much I would ache after day 1 - however I persevered and got to the end without conking out.

I agree - the 3,2,1 routine really whizzes through so you are at the end before you know it :o

I'm an E-cup and find that shock absorber one brilliant - it really does stop any movement which is essential.

flamingnora · 02/06/2011 09:55

Hi All

I know I am late but can I please join you and do this from today onwards? I had dd on Jan 2nd and have to return to work next month. I am now in a panic because hardly any of my work clothes fit me and that needs to change! I did do the DVD for a week in March but then got sick, got lazy etc, etc...
I'll post up after I've done it but please, please berate me and bollock me if I am not reporting activity!

NanAstley · 02/06/2011 10:30

Did today's routine first thing in the morning and I can now be smug for the rest of the day. DH was very intrigued by the whole thing, and talked about joining in "one day". Ha! I know what "one day" means in his context...it means never!

Shock absorber bras are essential. I have a Freya one which I wouldn't do without.

I used to use tins of beans but have now bought 1kg and 2kg hand weights from Tesco. The first time I used the weights, it nearly killed me! All the exercises were so much harder Shock. I'm getting used to 1kg weights so may up the ante in the next few days.

dearprudence · 02/06/2011 10:38

Impressive doing it so late at night georgie. Well done.

Hey flamingnora I like a bit of tough love too. I'll berate you if you berate me.

Just done day 2. Found it much harder at the beginning but got into it by the end.

Congrats to everyone else who's completed for today. We're well on our way to being shredded!

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 02/06/2011 10:44

Would hugely reccomend sports jock for anyone looking for a good sports bra, after years of doing martial arts I have tried most things, but to me these are by far the best and I wouldn't buy anything else now.

I use 2.5kg weights (according to the shred forum, this is what they are using in the DVD) on another shred thread on here people were using up to 7kg Shock I don't know how you do the jumping jacks on level three with weights that heavy.

Am yet to shred today, I used to d it first thing, but am actually quite liking doing it in the afternoon atm.

bogle · 02/06/2011 11:01

Hi all, day 2 completed. Bit harder than yesterday I thought, but over with now at least.

GColdtimer · 02/06/2011 12:29

Well done everyone. I did mine at 7 and found it really hard today. But as jillian says, it wouldn't work if was easy!

blabalalalablabla · 02/06/2011 13:55

Urgh - I am feeling terrible - I can barely get up and am aching all over Shock

I've persuaded DD to watch a dvd in bed so I can have a snooze don't have to move to much :o

MmeLindor. · 02/06/2011 14:25

My DVD is not working. Looks like I will have to download an illegal copy buy a new one. Meh.

Well done to those who have already started. I will do so tomorrow. DH home from work today.

TattyDevine · 02/06/2011 16:10

Right, I'm done!

OP posts:
ApuskiDusky · 02/06/2011 17:04

I'm done for today!

I only have the choice between 3kg and 5kg weights in the house (so using 3kg obv), no wonder I can't do all the strength exercises properly!

worldgonecrazy · 02/06/2011 17:08

I'm joining the thread late as I have missed two days due to illness. I have been doing it for about 2 weeks and am on level 2 now. Finding it really hard. This morning I was still a little weak so only managed to do 2/3 of the exercises. I also don't do lunges as I had to stop exercising for a week after doing a few days of Level 1 as the pain was crippling me. I have modified the exercise to do leg raises instead of squats/lunges and it's much better. Static lunges don't seem to hurt as much.
