There are 30 days in June. Who wants to do the 30 day shred every day this month?

TattyDevine · 31/05/2011 21:06

Right, ladies its that time of year one has to get shredded. There are holidays, there are barbecues, there are weddings to attend. One has to look good, and one has to undo any overindulgence of attending said events.

So I will be doing the 30 day shred every day in June, unless extraneous circumstances prevent me, these being:

Loss of life or loss of limb;
Illness involving either puking or high temperature;
Velcro-baby (i.e sick child keeping one up all night or similar shenanigans)

Any other excuses will not be tolerated.

Is anyone else in? You must check in daily to say you've done it and you may post your weight loss or inch loss weekly if you feel inclined. Plus wax lyrical about how shredded you feel and how hard your bottom is and how you can't really lift your arm very well or it shakes like a leaf but it doesn't matter because you can fit into your least mumsy swimsuit.

See you tomorrow!

Grin roundthehouses and Antidote.

Just finished for the day. Still struggling with the plank jacks and the plank squats - just can't seem to get into a rhythm. Still I can feel improvement in muscles, not sure it would be obvious to the casual observer though!

Sadly, a flapjack forced the cupboard door open and leapt into my mouth (only a bitesize one) but I don't think I'd have had the energy to get the kids lunch otherwise. I'm kind of trying not to overdo eating rather than dieting.

dearprudence · 08/06/2011 12:29

Done here too - first go at level 2. Actually not as bad as I feareed, but I found all the plank-based moves very tough and followed simpering Anita.

at gases. It's more the liquids that are a problem for me Blush

Off camping for two nights now - I will do a big walk tomorrow then shred again when back on Friday.

Leg muscles are definitely more toned and I am a slightly more shapely around waist, but I am very overweight so nobody else would notice. I feel tons better though, and will feel happier in my dress at cousin's wedding on Saturday.

Good luck everyone - I'll be checking in and updating my spreadsheet when I get back.

bogle · 08/06/2011 12:51

hi everyone, day 7 done. Moved up a notch weightwise today, and really noticed a diff. Was in Sains this morning and bought two 30p 1kg bottles of bleach, the bottles have a handy carry hold on them, should i refill with water? was a bit worried about bleach falling all over me during chest wotsits?

monkeysmama · 08/06/2011 12:55

I am doing it too. Started L1 today. I did it all 9 months ago and it made a big difference to how I looked and to my energy levels. I am using two 1.5kg weights and plan to do 10 days on each level.

I did think about name changing to discuss this but I haven't. I have a real issue with my pelvic floor muscles and am finding all the jumping exercises really difficult (I can hardly not wet myself Blush - lovely) I have been pg since I last shredded (I had a late mc) and wonder if this is why it is so much worse. Anyone got any good tips?

roundthehouses · 08/06/2011 13:01

monkeysmama - sorry to hear about your late mc, for sure being pregnant again will have put more strain on your pelvic floor. I guess just keep doing your keigels (sp?) as often as you remember and, yes, I also wee immediately before starting. No other advice really, I think doing your pelvic floor exercises are the only thing that will improve it but it might just take time.

toastandmarmiterocks · 08/06/2011 13:06

Antidote I am so impressed that you have managed to get your DH involved too! I will put it to mine too, wipe the smirk off his face.

For all you breastfeeders out there I don't know how you manage to shred without stopping for a snickers bar half way through. There is no hunger like the hunger of a breastfeeder
Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit < not no comment just some sustanence to keep you going til the next feed.

Now then Tattydevine you got us started on all this, where are you??

GColdtimer · 08/06/2011 14:05

Well done everyone. I have just done Level 2 as I was getting bored with level 1 (did 10 days in April). It was OK but bloody hell those Plank Jacks are hard. But honestly, it wasn't that bad. I am still here anyway (although DH did come up the stairs to check on what all the groaning was about - one of downsides of us both working from home is you can't grunt your way through an exercise routine in peace).

Grin at chutney and her flying flapjack.

chutneypig · 08/06/2011 14:19

I did see on the thread about random facts that you can't wee while clenching your teeth. I'm not sure it's ideal from a breathing point of view while exercising but might give that extra bit of help?!

LouMou · 08/06/2011 14:45

Day 8 level 1 done. The fear sweat is leaving my body.

bogle · 08/06/2011 15:58

Has anyone seen a change yet? I'm only on day 7 level 1, but I swear my waist looks smaller...

heymammy · 08/06/2011 16:21

Not noticing any difference looks wise, bogle, but definitely feel springier in my step and less inclined to eat sh*ite Grin

I can't decide whether to wait until I've done 30 days and then do my measurements again or whether to measure at maybe 10 then 20 then 30

stopthelights · 08/06/2011 17:59

Day 8 done - I'm definitely feeling trimmer. That pooch of mine is just disguising those abs of steel beneath Grin

whoneedssleepanyway · 08/06/2011 18:14

God I have fallen off the wagon already...have a urinary tract infection and am on ABs (I know it isn't limb loss but still feel cr@ppy), need to def get going again, am off work all next week and in Devon with family so will definitely do it every day then. Well done everyone.

DoingTheBestICan · 08/06/2011 18:28

All shredded here, done day 8 of level 1,dont know what happened to me today but i really struggled doing the skipping.

Good luck everyone who hasnt shredded yet & a big massive well done to those who have.

Come on keep it up,just think of the summer & wearing sleeveless tops Wink

SomersetBelle · 08/06/2011 18:34

Oh poor you whoneedsleep hope you feel better soon.

Shredded for today, and I can't get the hang of the plank moves either twofalls but hopefully it'll fall into place soon.

MissBeehiving · 08/06/2011 20:30

Day 7 shredded here. My pelvic floor was a tad erm untoned when I did the Shred last year after DS1 and DS2 - it helped no end and I haven't had any problems since. I can do star jumps on the trampoline [proud].

LeChatRouge · 08/06/2011 21:19

Day 8 of level 1 done.

If it wasn't for you lot I would have come home and not bothered (worked 7 til 8 today), but I did it as soon as I got in.

I feel like I am sleeping better - maybe connected.

See y'all tomorrow.

learningtofly · 08/06/2011 21:23

Ok day two completed. Felt much harder today, sweated like an ice-cream on a hot day but damn I feel good!

amalur · 08/06/2011 21:26

I almost didn't do it today but I wanted to sign in. It was hard though. I did level 2 but tried to follow Natalie. Glad it's done, it's day 6.

Antidote · 08/06/2011 22:18

Balls.

A nasty combo of Dh working late, a friend changing arrangements at the last minute, teething and late supper meant ds had a complete melt down and we had to move to early bed before shred.

Still, we did manage a bike ride between the downpours.

Tomorrow I am going to get some bigger weights and get back on it with vengeance.

missmakesstuff · 08/06/2011 22:28

I am signing in to get my wrist slapped. Have had manic few days, soo tired, dd up during the night so the snooze got turned on this morning.

I will do it at 6am tomorrow. Cannot do it now, really want to watch desparate housewives and have 30 reports to write too!

I am bad. go on, shame me into getting past day 4.

actiongirl1978 · 09/06/2011 06:10

Morning all.
I skipped yesterday for the main reason that I couldn't be bothered!

I am feeling more toned all over and I have stuck to my points for a week. So I guess I will be back on it this morning.

I sort of glad I didn't do it though as DS1.3 was up from 11-12pm in various states of crying, then husband arrived back from long day at work just after 12am and then DS woke up at 5.16am (precisely). So I would have been super knackered!

DS is now shouting at me (as he can't yet talk to me obv) and I am considering fleeing to another room with Shred and laptop to feel the morning burn.

Although I expect the minute I do, DD3.2 will appear expecting weetabix.

Will report in later.

Oh - and the pelvic floor farts...? Even worse when you don't know they are there until later when you are with DH. AHEM. Beyond mortifying.

actiongirl1978 · 09/06/2011 07:58

I did it!!! Well, DS sat on my tummy and made horse noises when I tried to crunch, but overall a good shred!

Hoorah. Once DCs in bed tonight, no crunching for me, just nice food and eastenders!

chutneypig · 09/06/2011 09:13

Done here and that will be the highlight of my day. Next vets, then dentist, wonderful. If I can find the cat.

actiongirl1978 · 09/06/2011 09:47

Oh Chutney - that sounds horrid. At least you can relax afterwards instead of dreading the exercise all day.
