There are 30 days in June. Who wants to do the 30 day shred every day this month?

TattyDevine · 31/05/2011 21:06

Right, ladies its that time of year one has to get shredded. There are holidays, there are barbecues, there are weddings to attend. One has to look good, and one has to undo any overindulgence of attending said events.

So I will be doing the 30 day shred every day in June, unless extraneous circumstances prevent me, these being:

Loss of life or loss of limb;
Illness involving either puking or high temperature;
Velcro-baby (i.e sick child keeping one up all night or similar shenanigans)

Any other excuses will not be tolerated.

Is anyone else in? You must check in daily to say you've done it and you may post your weight loss or inch loss weekly if you feel inclined. Plus wax lyrical about how shredded you feel and how hard your bottom is and how you can't really lift your arm very well or it shakes like a leaf but it doesn't matter because you can fit into your least mumsy swimsuit.

See you tomorrow!

day 4 done.

^^ funny!

heymammy · 05/06/2011 13:28

Shredded this morning but only day 3 for me. After much deliberation I've decided to have a couple of days off each week (due to time & inclination mainly Wink). I cycled ALOT on Friday so didn't shred and Saturdays are just too busy .

Well done those who are into double figures . I did notice that the cardio was much easier today and I was able to put more effort in.

Is it just me or does all the showering and changing of clothes get right on your wick?

stopthelights · 05/06/2011 13:51

Day 5 done. I'm sure there's the beginnings of a two pack under that pooch Smile

toastandmarmiterocks · 05/06/2011 15:05

Absolutely love Jillian Michaels' pep talks here on Mumsnet!!

missmakesstuff · 05/06/2011 15:06

Day 3 done for me, had a look at level two - eek!!
It's still easy at the moment for me as my back is still bad, but I am going to keep going and try and up the pace over the next few days. However now I am worried I will lose motivation, as back at work tomorrow, trying to get it done when at work is difficult, I don't have the time until DD is in bed, then I want to eat, then its feels too late.

I am going to have to do it before work at 6am aren't I? Yuck.

Flossie69 · 05/06/2011 16:12

I did day 2 this morning also, and am getting up at 6am to do it. DD wakes about 6.45, so I make her bottle first, then shred, then if I am very lucky, get a shower in too. Otherwise I am playing catch-up for the rest of the morning, and DD doesn't like it when I put her back in her cot later so I can shower. I am trying this routine out as on Tuesday I am going back to work - GULP.
Found it more difficult today as was using weights, 1kg to start with, and am definitley feeling it in my tummy muscles through the day. Hope that means the benefits are soon to follow :)

wildstrawberryplace · 05/06/2011 16:25

Shredded.

chutneypig · 05/06/2011 16:33

Day 5 done (level two). Not totally feeling like a limp noodle now, so some progress, just wish I could see more of an effect.

wildstrawberryplace · 05/06/2011 16:43

how do you decided when to go to level 2?

I'm finding the cardio OK, the chest flyes OK and the abs OK, but the lunges are hard on my legs. I'm using 2 kg weights.

I think I'll do a week on Level 1 then move up.

Also, what kind of results are we going to see? I'm fairly fit as I bike everywhere with my 20kg DS on the back, but I am also overweight (ie spare tyre).

chutneypig · 05/06/2011 17:11

I did a week on level 1 and was finding I could comfortably manage most moves, though not all. I figured I wasn't being stretched enough so thought I'd try level 2. Still only using 1 kg weights though, 2 kg Smile

LouMou · 05/06/2011 17:14

Day 5 dine Level 1. Going to do 10 days on each level. Will up the weights level tomorrow though for day 6. Feel the burn!

LouMou · 05/06/2011 17:15

er done not dine. dreaming of food

SomersetBelle · 05/06/2011 17:19

That's me done, day 7. I'm feeling fitter now and with more upper body strength - could hoist myself out of the side of the swimming pool this morning easily, hurrah!

But baffled about the weight gain. Unless fear really has left my body and been replaced with abs of steel Hmm

Antidote · 05/06/2011 17:51

Please may I be Mrs better late than never?

I got the dvd a week or so ago, did a couple of days on level 1, decided I am,never, ever going to manage more than three proper push ups and moved on to level 2.

I think I am on day 4 of level 2. The arms are killing me at the end.

Must stay motivated. I do so want to be less of a doughball by the time I go back to work on July 1st.

actiongirl1978 · 05/06/2011 18:13

I am sending in a note from DH.

It says I have done a lot of weeding and other garden activities and it was my turn to get the DCs up this morning and I have been manically busy all day and the kitchen is a tip and I have to make DDs lunch for school tomorrow.

So, I promise to try harder tomorrow. Oh will I regret skipping out on Day 4?

On the plus side Blabalalalalala, I have stuck to my points all weekend which is usually murder the first weekend back on Weightwatchers. Still getting to grips with propoints and treats allowance though.

Well done everyone who has kept going all through the weekend!!

Antidote · 05/06/2011 19:02

Shredded, half dead sweaty mess!

Trying to feed ds to sleep & dehydrate.

I am so struggling with the v presses and those straight leg raise an exercises which make me worry my cs scar is about to give it up!

roundthehouses · 05/06/2011 19:21

go shredders! Did day 6 this morning, definitely getting into my stride and trying to do steadily more a la Natalie but haven´t bought new weights yet so still only on 1kg. Still hate all lunges but managing them at least and on the plus side have been slowly increasing the full press ups and can now do about 15 full on the first round and about 10 on the second.

here´s a swift KICK! for those of you still waiting to tick today off - get to it, chop chop! You will feel so much better afterwards, you know you will...Grin

whoneedssleepanyway · 05/06/2011 19:28

Day 4 done here...arms aching, find the arms bit harder than the legs....am quite scared about going onto level 2.

dearprudence · 05/06/2011 19:47

I missed yesterday due to being hungover tired after seeing Take That on Friday, so I shredded twice today - earlyish morning and late afternoon.

I wouldn't have done that without this thread - thank you Tatty for starting it.

I still can't do all the jumping jacks followed by all the skips at the beginning, but can manage the rest OK. Am only on 1kg weights.

I've also gained weight by the way, which is gutting but good to see that others have done the same.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/06/2011 19:49

Didn't shred today as my back is really stiff and painful - think all the upside down stuff in L2 aggravates it.
But I managed 20 mins on the rowing machine, plus bicycle crunches and loads of stretches, so I'm counting it as Day 4.
I'm motivated by the prospect of a summer ball in late June, would love to be 1/2 st lighter by then but I know it's unlikely, so I'll have to concentrate on firming things up.
I must say, I'm not really rating the shred for weight loss; I used to run, and 20 mins every other day would lose about 1 - 2lbs a week easily.

dearprudence · 05/06/2011 19:54

Perfectly reasonable WWWY.

Bellebelle · 05/06/2011 20:00

Day 6 on level 1 done today, definitely not as challenging anymore so going to try level 2 tomorrow (scared).

TattyDevine · 05/06/2011 20:10

Shredded and deaded.

blabalalalablabla · 05/06/2011 20:50

I've had a hangover rest day today but am ready to carry on shredding tomorrow.

re: weight loss - the last time I did it I didn't really lose much weight but my body shape changed considerably and it looked as if I had lost weight. I was just a lot more toned - I lost about half a stone but did drop a dress size so it probably looked as if I'd lost a stone.

I think you'd have to combine shred with a diet to see considerable weightloss - that's only my experience though.

daisie4 · 05/06/2011 21:41

Just shredded again - with dh and dcs - shut the curtains first! I still can feel the effects of Friday (camping yesterday so couldn't do it) - but still managed it so feeling v pleased.

I was so hungry yesterday though - I think I'm going to end up putting weight on Smile
