Over here all you 40s and fading!

Sorry - thread moved on without me

thenightsky - think of TVT as internal spanx. They put a tape under all the saggy bits your baby destroyed on the way out and restore your pelvic floor to it's normal location. Goodbye weeing in your shoes and hello star jumps. Should you be so inclined obviously. For me it was more important that I could hold a wine box and laugh but each to their own.

brentford nylons god I had forgotten them

blue sparks
electric(under)blankets (oh yes running up the stairs to switch it on)
nylon nighties...
this is my thread.... :)

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/05/2011 22:07

BRENTford NYlons! Anyone else remember the advert? We used to frequent the Brentford Nylons seconds shop - it was just as you came off the M4, just past the Lucozade bottle, and before you hit the North Circular (on the way to my grandparents). Flowery nylon sheets, brushed nylon sheets for the winter, nylon fitted bed spread (to make the bed look "tidy"). Brushed nylon nightie to roll about in nylon clad bed and make sparks.

sidsmissis · 12/05/2011 22:25

Mrs S have just watched the Brentfords advert on you tube and seen the flowery sheets Grin. I had forgotten the lovely fitted nylon satin look bedspreads.....mine was a foul pink one that matched the sizzling nylon sheets.
I looked forward to staying at my Grandma's at the weekends because she had lovely striped flanelette sheets instead of the nylon monstrosities my mother inflicted on us.
I used to live in fear of my brother setting the bedroom alight by leaving his eveready torch on and igniting the sheets....jeez we would have been shrink wrapped by the melted bedding.

Re: combined parental age - I'm sure I win first prize: 109 (110 later this year). This is obvs not a good prize to win. What is worse is that whenever people find out DH's age they always say they thought he was at least 10 years younger than he actually is. No one EVER says this when I tell them my age.

Swedes2 · 12/05/2011 23:06

OMG - I'm NOT pregnant now. No. No. No. He's 3 now (4 in a few months) and I'm 47 now I think but I was 44 (poss 43 when conceived it's too complicated to work out for my old brain) when I had him.

you can see him here

Swedes2 · 12/05/2011 23:11

Kerry - congratulations

BecauseImWorthIt · 12/05/2011 23:12

Hah! We're famous!

Was diverted to Netmums, courtesy of a thread here - basically a NM thread saying how * MN is. And I came across this:

Kerrymumbles - he has a sister who is 18 months older so he spent the first two and a half years of his life being Alice in Wonderland/Belle/Ballerina or just in a frock. Even in Waitrose. Shock It all came to an abrupt end when he went to nursery.

Swedes, my DS used to dress in his sisters ballet outfit / dresses and most importantly tights all the time till he started school. We have loads of cute photos of him tooWink

Kerry, I have a spare pregnancy tester from when I had that panic too if you want it?!

cabbageroses · 13/05/2011 09:19

kerry _ I can't believe you are seriousSmile

You get hot flushes because of a drop in hormones. This does not mean that you stop ovulating altogether. You may pop out the odd egg for aother 5 years . Hot flushes can last for years pre meno and years afterwards.

remember Cheri Blair? she was 45.

My Dh had a Gf whole mum had her last child at 49.
it's not unheard of. Unilkely but not unheard of.

If it's a chance you arehappy to take , fine. if not you know what to do.
I think we have had this conversation before onthe Menopause forum.

Kerry - Have you thought about names?

Bonsoir - Can you link to a pair of the trousers that you currently swear by? I need a change from jeans.

See this is how menopausal babies occur - thinking you are safe :)

Maiasaurus · 13/05/2011 10:02

A good friend of my mums had a baby at 49.

She thought it was the menopause - no periods, getting thicker round the middle, tired all the time. Grin

Congratulations, kerry

Kerry - I'm going to go against the others and say don't worry and don't let it mess with your head, it's possible but very unlikely!

If you can't stand the uncertainty you don't have to spend lots on testing btw - get some cheapies off ebay (stick 'pregnancy test' into their search, lots will come up) eg ebay tests

HouseOfBamboo · 13/05/2011 10:35

Some deliver quicker than that one btw, just noticed they are a bit slow.
