Over here all you 40s and fading!

OP posts:
Stropperella · 11/05/2011 15:09

Herbs, you never know, you could still get up the duff. Don't give up hope yet! If you are still ovulating, it could still happen, couldn't it?

I secretly wish I could have had a 3rd but we are deffo too old (joint parental age of well over 100), too poor and I am too crabby with the two I already have. Plus another pregnancy would probably worsen my flatulence problem to the point where I would never be able to leave the house again. Grin

herbaceous · 11/05/2011 15:19

Thanks ladies, you made me laugh. Something of a feat today.

And yes, Strop, technically I guess it could happen. Our joint parental age is only 79!

Something to further cheer, or despair at total hagdom, is trip to Homebase this afternoon.

Blackduck · 11/05/2011 15:23

So is dh/p young or are you not really over 40?? Combined age 94 here.....(bugger that's depressing)

herbaceous · 11/05/2011 15:27

DP is only 34!! His gametes are young and vigorous. I, sadly, am 45.

AND ANOTHER THING. My periods had been a clockwork 28 days apart until I started taking Well Woman capsules, which are supposed to regulate my hormones. Now they're blasted 21 to 25 days.

Blackduck · 11/05/2011 15:31

Mine was like clockwork until ds.....then it kind of got back to normal, but now it is all over the shop....makes you understand how menopausal babies come about!

pointydog · 11/05/2011 17:17

Re Carol the weather lady. I don't think she's had a make-over. I've noticed the big change and I believe it's all due to weight loss. Really. I think she's lost a lot. She wears the same sort of outfits.

pointydog · 11/05/2011 17:21

dd1 and I were hooting with laughter yesterday. I get sent the Land's End catalogue since ordering a coat from them by mistake once and these trousers had a special double-page spread. One of our favourite adjectives was 'forgiving'.

pointydog · 11/05/2011 17:22

Although I do like 'figure balancing' and 'to reduce bulk' too.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 11/05/2011 17:23

I have some Land's End terrain Mary Janes.

I'll get my coat.

OP posts:
pointydog · 11/05/2011 17:26

Oh don't worry. I was being flippant about the coat. I actually really like it and wear it a lot.

The catalogue is horrific though. The models look shit so there is no way that an older bird with more heft will look even mildly ok in most of it.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 11/05/2011 17:29

Grin Good for gardening in natch.

The espadrilles look nice...........

OP posts:
motherinferior · 11/05/2011 17:31

The Canvas range of LE is nice, not least because it has youthful models that manage to make you feel you might be like them if you buy their very tight but very stretchy jeans.

moondog · 11/05/2011 17:46

I bought a coat from Lands End at a low moment a few years back.
It's Frump Central but damned warm.
I wore it for many solitary hikes over Christmas when I knew it was too cold for people to be out or everyone would be indoors doing Christmassy stuff.

sailorsgal · 11/05/2011 18:05

Just been to get my hair done. Hairdresser asks what colours I wanted, me, "just cover the grey, and fringe a must to hide the lines". We started discussing Glastonbury, it sounded like hell, no showers, queuing for loos etc and a line up I have never heared of. Hmm We then moved onto discussing bands, I said I was into (when I was his age) Tears for Fears, Jam, Japan, Simple minds etc He'd never heared of them. Oh well!

sailorsgal · 11/05/2011 18:08

I might reconsider if I can stay here here

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2011 18:16

pointydog I hadn't thought that she had lost weight, but maybe she has lost a bit. But her hair is definitely different and she was wearing lots of pastels at one point which were very ageing. DH also noticed the change, and he never notices anythingSmile

MABS · 11/05/2011 18:22

love this thread, only just seen it. by the way, Noddy is gorgeous and frankly could wear her jamas and look glam :)

noddyholder · 11/05/2011 20:22

I was wearing them when you saw me the other day! I thank you for the lovely compliment but seriously there is no truth in it!

Eeek · 11/05/2011 22:03

sorry to be late to the party - couldn't find glasses to read clock...

TVT is fab scaffolding if your PF didn't quite survive in the approved NCT manner and you find yourself weeing in your shoes if you giggle unexpectedly Blush. One day in hospital, no scars and decent drugs so you don't have to know anything about it! Brilliant! I can even do star jumps now.

thenightsky · 11/05/2011 22:06

TVT?

pointydog · 11/05/2011 22:49

I would bet a tenner that she has lost up to 2 stone, mint

Blackduck · 11/05/2011 22:56

I have just brought a pair of trousers from Landsend canvas in the sale....they are HUGH!! I bought a ten to be on the safe side, but am having to wear a belt with them (also bought a cardi/coat thing which I wouldn't have paid 80+ for, but is lovely for 19.99.....)
hip blardy hurts again - anyone know any good exercises?

CointreauVersial · 11/05/2011 23:25

Steady on, steady on, purchasing from the Land's End catalogue cannot end well.

DH gets this delightful catalogue through the post regularly, having once ordered a nasty acrylic item for FIL's Christmas present.

I may not shop at Miss Selfridge and Topshop any more, but there are limits. Grin

moondog · 11/05/2011 23:42

Fantastic.
Who are those models?
One can't believe they are living breathing sentient beings.
Surely animatrons?

Blackduck · 12/05/2011 07:13

Landsend Canvas isn't bad CV (justifies self) - is peopled by bright young (exceptionally thin) things - so clearly I don't belong there.
