Oh carciofi so glad you are back lovely artichoke! How is the bump?

It is small Saturday night chez fritzi tonight. Drinking lovely chilled white wine we got as compensation at the hotel where we stayed because they messed up our spa appointments. It is very nice Smile.

emo Have you been spray-tanned yet?

keepcalm My navy Janice shrunk a bit (mostly length) in 30degree wool/delicate cycle but I wear it anyway.

carciofi · 11/05/2011 20:48

Thanks :)

Fritiz, where you went on holidays looks fantastic. Bump is wriggling a lot and I am now 12 kilos heavier than last autumn! I have had enough now and I am really looking forward to wine or champagne!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/05/2011 20:50

pickled Get the Rosenthal Tac white china. It was designed by Gropius and t is very plain (in a good way), lovely, delicate and elegant china. I especially love the soup/pasta plates, here. And I think you absolutely need a glass of wine while listening to opera and reading Franzen.

pickledsiblings · 11/05/2011 21:05

Fritzi, that does look lovely but does it come without the lines/riidges around the outside of the dinner plates?

FritziGreenEyes · 11/05/2011 21:13

Ours is just plain white.

blossoming · 11/05/2011 21:16

pickled, I'll post a photo tomorrow for you when I'm back on the computer.
I had my porridge this morning in a lovely wedgewood signet platinum bowl (white porcelain with platinum trim) from my wedding set. I thought if I was going to eat porridge, I would do so in style.

So glad you're back carciofi. It just wasn't the same!

I shall investigate further - thanks for the recommendation, it looks just right and I love how it is described as 'translucent'. No wine here, just a lovely latte made by DH.

Now I really am off. Enjoy the rest of your evening Fritzi.

VerityBrulee · 11/05/2011 21:53

Carciofi glad you're back to your old self again Smile

Bloss love the sound of your lunch, might try it tomorrow! I'm not crazy about porridge either, have tried various friut additions to make it more palatable, that's why I can only manage it every second day.

OWW what a day! When our boys were younger we were regulars at A&E, I think it just goes with the territory, they'll grow out of it. As for the nits, eeewww, bad enough looking for them in your own dc's hair, but their classmates Shock

Wideawake sorry to hear about your mums cataracts, hopefully they won't get worse, but the surgery is very straightforward and very successful. My mum is an optometrist and refers lot of patients with cataracts and they all come back to her after the op with a new lease of life. Fingers crossed for your dad also Smile

Ok, so I spent ages uploading photos from camera and phone onto computer now I have to get them onto facebook. And guess what, about 900 photos taken since last october, and not one of me!

Evening all! Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the dresses, I haven't bought either yet, but think I'm going to go for the Sessun one. Maybe tomorrow!

I missed seeing carciofi on the thread, glad you reverted!

And on china - despite DH and I arguing so much over it, we never use ours, probably because we never have groups over for dinner any more. When people come over for Sunday lunch, we just use our day to day stuff!

Anniemac, I am work-clothes shopping vicariously through you, very much enjoying your links!

Emo, how's the packing short-list going? What's a keeper?

notyummy · 11/05/2011 22:15

Evening all.

Watching 24 hrs in A and E. In awe of the staff. My mum was a casualty sister- one if the reasons I have always been happy to leave dd with her. She is better equipped than me to cope in an emergency.

Can't help with china I am afraid. I just have plain White set of everything!

Good news about Barcelona Everything.

Just found a bleach mark on the back of a silver silk Jigsaw top that I wear a lot. It is ruined Angry. Dont know how it happened but it is probably my own fault.

ApuskiDusky · 11/05/2011 22:20

NY, nightmare. I am very suspicious of the quantity of bleach in pub and restaurant toilets - have had a couple of things ruined by leaning against the wrong bits when they've not long been cleaned.

blossoming · 11/05/2011 22:23

I just watched that too notyummy. It was recommended in The Times. I felt quite disturbed by it (squeamish!) Really enjoyed it.

Glad you like my best china everyspring. I felt quite old fashioned when I ordered it. The women in my family have always loved china and I'm set to inherit quite a lot too.

Aargh, just given ds2 a bottle, without realising it was the old bottle that he didn't drink at bedtime, and that has been lying out for the last 4 hours! Thought DH had kindly put it beside me.... hope hope hope he's not sick from it...

notyummy · 11/05/2011 22:52

I am sure he will be fine Apuski. I know its not ideal and there are guidelines for a purpose, but the odds are heavily against it making him poorly.

ApuskiDusky · 11/05/2011 23:09

Thanks NY, yes hopefully if it had gone off he wouldn't have drunk it, even as a dreamfeed; and it was ready-made rather than powder formula, so at least it was sterile at one point! Just have to wait and see I guess, best get to sleep while I can.

wideawakenurse · 12/05/2011 08:09

Good Morning.

Thank you all for your kind wishes about both my Mum and Dad.

Yesterday's shopping was a non event in the end, DS was having none of it. I think I have to expect that at 17 months, my days of wandering around the shops with him are over. The only point that he stopped screaming was playing in John Lewis toy dept, and shouting 'Hiya' at two mannequin's dressed in school uniforms.

Apuski Hope DS is ok, I have done that many a time with no ill effect!

NY I am in awe of your routine. Your commute is similar to mine, it's a killer isan't it? Sorry to hear about your top - things like that are so annoying.

VB I was hoping to hear your wisdom of Dublin finest shopping too. I know what you mean about pictures, all of DS here in various poses.

OWW your transcript made me laugh on the train yesterday. Can't believe you were the named nit nurse, your a stronger woman than me!

Keepcalm my navy Janice has shrunk loads too, and my stripey is looking tatty, I did wear it loads this winter though. Maybe it just needs a de-bobble.

I have sky+ed the A+E programme last night, looking forward to watching it. I imagine it's pretty gritty.

Good news is that my Jeans from Revolve finally arrived back with them and they are going to process a refund. Have decided that my Jeans purchased are to be some less inky coloured ones. I love the colour of my Zara every day ones, but they bag and give within hours.

ApuskiDusky · 12/05/2011 08:23

Morning! DS was fine, not a problem. Just scoffed a massive breakfast.

notyummy · 12/05/2011 09:06

Glad he was fine Apuski!

WAN - I found the A and E programme a bit like One Born Every Minute - they were obviously looking for 'characters' to film to add colour/interest which is fair enough. That said I really enjoyed it and it did document at least one amazing case and it was really moving to follow it from start to finish.

Working at home this morning and then a couple of meetings this afternoon. The weather is sunny around here but not that warm so i am in a tights/no tights dilemma (plus the fact that I have not prepped my legs recently for no tights.) So for the third day this week it is a trouser suit (at least they have all been different suits!) Today I will be in a wide leged grey pin striped number from H and M in 2004!! It still fits and I honestly think it looks pretty good. It was whilst choosing a top to wear with it that I discovered that my silver Jigsaw top was ruined. The marks are on the back but are quite large so I cant even give it to charity. The local council here picks up clothes for recycling so I will put it in the recycle bin (we have the highest recycling rates in the country mainly because they have invested heavily in their provision and you can put nearly everything in one recycling bin.)

Emo - hope all the prep is going well! Have you got a swimsuit/bikini yet?

Emo76 · 12/05/2011 09:15

update on Miami packing - mail order deliveries yesterday produced fab Bec-a-like from Coast Carlton orange dress here and "it will do" spotty Boden swimsuit.

Have decided to take full suite of hair and beauty products in proper checked in case and not worry about waiting around for it to come off the plane.

The great news is that Saturday afternoon appears completely free for some wise and avid transatlantic purchasing!

Spray tan this eve after work. Slightly nervous but even if it's a bit orange better than being utterly pasty as I am .

wideawakenurse · 12/05/2011 09:27

Emo, can you get to selfo's in your lunch hour? Massive swimwear selection and lots of Heidi klein.

blossoming · 12/05/2011 09:30

emo, I have this swimming costume in the blue. It is beautiful and straps are detachable. Miami worthy!
Sold in Rigby & Peller too.

wideawake, that is great news about the jeans.

notyummy, sorry about your top.

apuski, glad things are okay.

Porridge update: much more palatable with blueberries! Currently on offer at the Co-Op!

Could possibly get to Selfridges or R&P at lunchtime - will update later!! Thanks all.
