Where is everybody???

OP posts:
roary · 11/05/2011 11:24

Sigh. Hello all! Much real life in the way. But lovely to keep catching up from afar. Back at work post mat leave, DH away for 2 weeks for work, life is all very busy and I'm trying to finish a paper too.

binneadair your old name was one of my faves! I miss it.

VerityBrulee · 11/05/2011 11:52

Something is wrong with my laptop, I can't open any links Shock Need to get it fixed, quick.

NY everytime you talk about your daily routine I feel so lazy, I wish I had half your energy.

I am going to bake today, so shortbread, lemon squares and oaty choc chic cookies are on the menu, I'm gradually getting back into SAHM mode, ie I have spring cleaned, managed to get to the bottom of the laundry basket and replenished the cupboards.

I found lots of stuff for ebaying during my clear out. I'm wearing a Whistles dress today that I found in a box under the bed. It's a really pretty print but it's empire line and is making me look pregnant, so I guess that's why it was under the bed! I think it's destined for ebay.

Emo so Envy of your trip, have a fab time, and wideawake sorry yours was cancelled, was looking forward to sharing my favourite shops with you. Another time Smile

OllieWollieWoo · 11/05/2011 11:59

Ergh - survived the soft play centre and then had to do a headlice check in DSs class - 5 kids had them!!!! Gross. I'm still itching!

DS1 has is first session at the local hockey club later - given how strong and active he is, I am more than a little worried about the safety of the other kids!!!

Bloss agree 100% with WAN's words about your wardobe. Would love to see a pic of the P8 maxi on (seriously, am thinking of giving up browsing/buying/returning, and just using you as my muse and adopting the following mantra "Buy What Bloss Buys" (but in summer colours of course Smile)
WAN my Dad had skin cancer a couple of years ago and was fine after treatment. Hope its the same for your Dad.

blossoming · 11/05/2011 13:01

Thanks ollie. I'll post one this afternoon once dh has gone! Lovely to have lunch with him today. I made chicken breasts stuffed with goats cheese and thyme, with some tomatoes and courgettes and a little brown rice.

I can't believe you're the nit nurse. Is it for one year only or ongoing?

Happy baking verity.

I am having way too much fun experimenting with my facebook page Blush. As if I didn't spend enough time on line!
Photos of phase eight maxi are on there too ollie. Looks better on than in the photos as it is more swishy and drapes round my legs.

Take the big bag Emo - you know you'll want outfit options and something to carry home the purchases inWink.
Saying that, our luggage got lost in Miami - can you imagine 4 girls arriving at 8pm on a Saturday night in Miami with NO clothes to wear!!

blossoming · 11/05/2011 14:35

Our luggage got left on the Tarmac in Miami during a tropical rainstorm. One bag was canvas, everything soaked through. I'd love to go back.

Bloss - I saw the P8 maxi today, touched it, in fact, in that mmmm shall I? way. However, I'd just taken the White company one back as no matter how hard I try I can't fail to flash my bra and a big helping of cleavage (I'm only 5'2"). It does look lovely though on FB.

blossoming · 11/05/2011 14:52

Didn't realise you were 5'2 morag. I like the halterneck feature. Could you hem?

OP posts:
moragbellingham · 11/05/2011 15:02

Yes, I have just started doing my own stuff - much cheaper and takes no time at all. I didn't realise it was halterneck actually, that would make a difference (in a good way) as it is wrap fronts and v-necks that defeat me.

PORTIA4 · 11/05/2011 15:43

3rd attempt to post a message!
I have just set up a facebook account and will post photos when DD! shows me how later! I have sent friend requests to any names I recognised!
Apusky Like both dresses, are they for casual wear?
Annie That looks like a great dress for work.
On the china front, I am rather predictable and have Emma Bridgewater polka dots!

OllieWollieWoo · 11/05/2011 16:07

Gah - this day gets worse - just back from yet another trip to A&E with DS2 - this time a nasty cut by his eyebrow. We were at the hockey club for DS1's induction lesson and DS2 was being playing tick with a boy from school - and ran into the metal fence by a hockey pitch (was looking behind him as he ran!)

Thats our 3rd trip to A&E in 6 months. Dr glued cut together - DS2 will be able to do it himself if it happens again!. I shouldn't have made that quip about being frightened of DS1 welding a hockey stick - even tho he was nowhere near when it happend! Poor DS2 - these things always happen to him!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/05/2011 16:24

Oh ollie what a stressful day for you! Hope DS2 is ok, is he the one with the scar on the forehead or was that DS1? I have only just read about your DH's job worries too. Not to mention the nits. Hope both DSs are off to bed early tonight and you can enjoy a glass of wine with DH.

Love all the posts about everyone's china collection Smile. We have this here, not the ridiculous tea pot though, only plates and cups.

I am wearing my WC navy maxi today and I love it. morag Have just checked cleavage but all under control Smile.

annie Dress looks good for summer office wear and could be easily accessorized I think.

verity You are the baking queen. I am trying to keep my cravings for sugar under control with fruit and ate almost half a kilo of strawberries today. Not sure if that is the right approach Hmm.

emo I am voting for small carry-on with folded up huge Longchamp bag inside to carry all your purchases in on the way back. I am paranoid about my suitcase getting lost, so I pack at least one change of clothes in my hand luggage.

wan Healing vibes to your dad!

NanAstley · 11/05/2011 17:21

OWW how scary! Do the A&E staff know you by name yet? (Oh look, there comes the OWW family again Grin) Also, thanks for the link to the Denby outlet

Plum what a coincidence! We could have crossed paths. I'd be easy to recognise...I was the one standing in the tableware section with a dreamy look Grin Have fun in Florence.

Loving all the links to tableware. I'm saving up for the Coast Azure range. For my wedding list I asked for a set from Debenhams, as it was the most upmarket place in Cardiff 10 years ago. The set was fine, but it's much the worse for wear now, with several pieces chipped or missing. I just want something I will love now Smile

wan sorry about your mum. My grnadmother had to have a cataract operation and it wasn't fun Hmm. If your mum takes care of her eyes, the cataract won't develop further will it?

I've ordered this skirt and this top from Oasis. I saw it on a mannequin in their shop yesterday and fell in love with the look. I really wouldn't have thought of putting a yellow tee with that skirt, but the butterflies have yellow bits in it that is really brought out by the top. If it suits me (usually full skirts make me look very blessed of arse Hmm) then it will be perfect for summer picnics with a denim jacket.

All this talk of holidays....I want one too

NanAstley · 11/05/2011 17:22

LOOK! Mulberry's new bag for AW11. The Taylor

FritziGreenEyes · 11/05/2011 18:22

nan Nice! I'm usually not a Mulberry fan, but there is even one in grey with silver clasps!!! Hope the lovely butterfly skirt is good for you.

blossoming · 11/05/2011 18:34

Mmm, really lovely bag there nan.

ollie, what a day. Hope you can have a glass of wine later. Wednesday used to be called 'small Saturday night' in Welsh Unis (doesn't translate well, but you get my gist!)

OP posts:
KeepCalmAndCurryOn · 11/05/2011 19:30

H'mmm ... navy Janice is back in stock in P8. How much did it shrink, exactly...?

And was it the stripey or the navy that came up small, ladies?

Emo76 · 11/05/2011 19:42

keepcalm navy janice is the shrinker in my experience (even on 30 degree wool wash) Mine has really shrunk in length.

Think the stripey comes up more true to size than navy

nan I like those but don't like the metal mulberry plaque on the front. or the price - eek! vs Anya Hindmarch/similar. I am sure they will sell well though!

OWW hope your little boy recovers quickly - that glue stuff is wonderful isn't it.

I feel like a small saturday night here too but am trying hard not to drink alcohol today!

blossoming · 11/05/2011 20:25

Me too emo. My book says you should do 2 weeks without alcohol. And if you can't then you have an alcohol problem. That'll be me then.

keepcalm, in my experience, size down in stripey janice.

OP posts:
KeepCalmAndCurryOn · 11/05/2011 20:26

Thanks ladies.

carciofi · 11/05/2011 20:28

Roary, I am Carciofi again. :) Identity crisis over!

WAN, hope you had a nice time with your dad.

OWW, sorry you had a bad day.

Bloss, your lunch sounds delish. Try raisins on your porridge. I bought myself a pair of Chanel sunglasses to hide the tired eyes when DD was a baby, they are still perfect, I am very careful/anal with them.

Emo, I like the Theory dress, very classy. It is a great label.

Nan, the Denby azure is such a nice colour. We have boring white. I think my next Mulberry will be a Bayswater though Anya Hindmarch is very tempting too.

pickledsiblings · 11/05/2011 20:39

OWW what a day, we don't have that much going on in a week around here.

Bloss, don't go neglecting us non FBers on here will you. I'd love to see a photo of you in the P8 maxi.

pickledsiblings · 11/05/2011 20:40

Welcome back carciofi Grin.
