Where is everybody???

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 09/05/2011 14:35

OWW checking in from a darkened room with a cold compress on my head! 3 hours of intense concentration was such hard work! Teacher v, v nice tho (she laid out little bowls of snacks including M&Ms - lovely). Turns out there are now 4 in the class - lovely English lady (sure she is MN'er - wore amazing wedges with emerald green nailpolish and stylish long chunky cardi) and a v sweet french couple! Have 4/5 hours homework to do before Thursday tho - mostly on the laptop. Really hope all this doesn't affect my MNíng time!

Binnendair and RedLama - same thing happened to me a St Thomas's - they sent me home twice! The second time was after I'd been admitted, had a bath, seen various Drs etc - then they said they needed the room! Went home (via car to SE London) and then DS1 was almost born at home. I didnt make a fuss at the time but looking back, I should have as the outcome could have been a lot worse due to the complications I had after being sent home.

First day back at school - DSs very tired and grumpy. I have Zumba later so will be v tired and grumpy myself!

redllamayellowllama · 09/05/2011 14:36

Bloss, you've missed out on nothing! I too ended up being admitted the day I was due to be induced binneadair and then went on to have EMCS. DD was an ELCS at St T's; I loved the care here, I was lucky to have an amazing consultant, who made sure she delivered DD, knowing how traumatised I was by DS's birth. Anyway, let's steer well away from that tangent, shall we?!

Am very annoyed, as have realised that the funds for my carefully planned post-Shred shopping trip are going to have to go on my sister's extortionately priced and badly planned hen do in June. 2 nights away from the DC's is a first for me.

OllieWollieWoo · 09/05/2011 14:38

Binneadair My midwife was lovely too - she was like Ma Larkin from the Darling Buds of May and lived on a houseboat!

OllieWollieWoo · 09/05/2011 14:45

I'm loving all the lovely pics on FB - thinking I should set up a new OWW account as I am always a bit hesitant about putting pics of me up!

binneadair · 09/05/2011 14:47

Fritzi, I think I found you on Facebook.
Great photos, Bloss. I love Rome!
I like the mini, Annie.
Happy shopping, Nan.

OllieWollieWoo · 09/05/2011 14:53

Last post from me - keep meaning to post the following:
Last week the sales assistant's in Mango were wearing this dress and this one - both looked v nice.

And the sales assistant in New Look had this sundress on and I have to say it looked really good on her (20 something with killer legs!).

binneadair · 09/05/2011 14:57

Sorry, missed the last few posts. St Ts do take risks sending you away, it is such a busy hospital though.

FritziGreenEyes · 09/05/2011 15:33

binnead Yes, that's me on FB! Your DD is such a cutie and you look fab!

FritziGreenEyes · 09/05/2011 15:46

When I was in labour my worst fear was going to the hospital and being turned away. So I waited, sent DH to the office, waited some more and some more until DH insisted we leave. Turns out I was 8cm dilated and DH almost missed the birth because he was trying to find a proper parking space Grin.

ollie Like those sundresses but would think they would suit my long-limbed young babysitter better than me Smile. I can so relate to your DSs feeling grumpy on first day of school. Felt similar at work today. This is where we stayed last weekend. Quite a few Dutch families too.

blossoming · 09/05/2011 16:01

I went to put on my hunters.
I had no socks on.
(Do you know where I'm going with this?)
Something cold, wet and squelchy. I couldn't get my foot out I was in such a panic.
First thought: dead frog.
Fast forward half an hour and bravely investigated. An apple maybe that dd must have put there weeks/months ago. And a crayon.

I have aged another 10 years.

Spelt bread us delicious. Best freeze it quick before I demolish it. Dd currently eating it with tinned salmon/light Philadelphia on top.
Have also made lentil, pepper and ras el hanout soup for my tea. I am a lady on a mission.

OP posts:
mrsjuan · 09/05/2011 16:42

Oh gross bloss! Love that your first thought was a dead frog!
All your cooking sounds delicious-how do you manage to be so productive??
Oww-glad school was successful and you weren't the only one. No shirking on your homework now!

Stories about being sent home in labour are v scary! I was induced early with dd so didn't get to experience that 'excitement''

Will look at links later-dd demanding requesting stories

MarshaBrady · 09/05/2011 17:11

Hey folks! I haven't had time to catch up at all. But am envious that you've all charged on with FB so will try and do it soon.

They keep giving me new briefs so am a bit snowed... Am going back in.. See you all soon Smile

blossoming · 09/05/2011 17:47

mrsjuan, I haven't been this productive for months! Just gained a few pesky pounds over Easter and worrying about being bikini ready for August.
I also want to train myself to eat differently on holidays so that I'm not a porker again by the second week!

OP posts:
notyummy · 09/05/2011 18:43

Nan - I wore new Mango blouse with a jigsaw navy blue suit here and here. I think it looked good - the only problem was shoes as I discovered that I only have proper formal shoes in either grey or black. I went with black in the end, as they were nearly hidden by trousers! Glad I went for the suit, as it was formal and hugely dominated by middle aged men in suits, so I felt wholly appropriate!! That said, I think I could have got away with a dress and may do so next time now I know a lot of them. Just wanted to play it safe for the first encounter. Collected a ridiculous number of business cards and have been invited to speak to an Institute of Directors event so all good.

I am loving all the Fb pics!

Laughing at Bloss and her frog.....we have 2 pet snails in a tupperware container (with holes in the lid!) in the kitchen that we collcted from the woods yesterday. Had to brief the mothers help this morning so she didn't have a canary when she was tidying Grin.

blossoming · 09/05/2011 20:16

When I lived in Cardiff I had slugs in the kitchen too. Sadly not in a Tupperware box.

rufus101 · 09/05/2011 20:36

Yeuck! Bloss although yum to the spelt bread. That soup sounds delicious. Can you post a recipes. (mouth is watering greedily)
Portia that means you are from the same neck of the woods as me as well! Wow! Wouldn't it be funny if we knew each other? We probably do to see! PM me if you are feeling brave!
Red those are the same shoes. I was tempted to get them in black also but I have a few pairs in black patent already.
NY glad the presentation went well I like that suit. I am in the market for a new one. It makes work wear so easy.
OWW that New Look dress reminds me of that line "By the time you can afford to buy the dresses you like, you no longer have the body to wear them" (Feeling sorry for myself here, have spent too much time reading that fading at 40 thread)
I bought the slyvie skater dress at the weekend Love it. It looks great with pied a terre sandals Now I just need a jacket that will go with everything. Does such an item exist? Apart from a denim one? I had a black biker which filled this role perfectly, but I have worn it to death.

Bloss you should really notice a difference giving up wheat, and it's not too difficult as there are so many alternatives. But I agree with NY it is pretty boring. What I wouldn't give for a bit of crusty bread and salty butter TBH I don't think I could keep it up if it wasn't for health reasons, but it's def doable for a month or two. I bake a lot with ground almonds, it's harder to make cakes with spelt, although spelt makes great pastry. Cornflour is great for sauces and the like. I have a to die for wheat free brownie recipe, but sadly it's rather calorific! My mum is wheat free too and she likes Genius bread but I can't eat it as the yeast makes my stomach do somersaults. Anyway, I'm thinner now than I've been since my teens and I do no exercise Blush.

Binneadair love the name change Smile, although I only just realised what carciofi are having seen them in a jar with olive oil in a deli recently! V exciting that you are so near your due date.

Fritzi love your swimsuit, I have a bookmark somewhere amongst the thousands of a miraculous bikini that loads of celebs were wearing last summer, supposed to be uber-flattering, I'll try to find it.

I must confess that I opened a facebook account nearly 2 months ago and some of you were kind enough to be friends with me and I still have done NOTHING with it Blush Hopefully now I have a bit more time on my hands I'll find some photos to put up. I also have 3 black bags of stuff to ebay and a business idea to research before the dc get their summer hols. Where did the year go? This is ds1's last term of primary school

Yum, yum Bloss I am making that tomorrow night!

blossoming · 09/05/2011 22:04

Thanks everyspring.
It is quite delicious rufus.
Just saw a flyer in Red magazine for clothes for people with boobs.
www.pepperberry.com. If that's any use to anyone?

OP posts:
VerityBrulee · 09/05/2011 22:20

Bloss I think the combination of wheat/yeast/sugar is the cause of a lot of bloating, all that fermentation!

Everyspring well done on the cycle Smile
