emo I can't tell you how much I would love to go on a weekend to Miami! Will check out your thread later.

I have finally found a swimsuit I like. Doesn't look quite as good with my A-cup bony chest and pale colouring but I still like it. Now I will join mrscb in the hunt for the perfect bikini. Grin

dolcee I have the Acqua di Parma Fico perfume too and it lifts my mood whenever I smell it.

binneadair Not long now! Really excited for you!

bloss I have tried on the Boden linen dress you have in all possible sizes but the fit is not for me. I am currently a bit obsessed with getting a white, short, must-not-be-see-through, linen dress. Like the White Company tunic you and ollie have too.

mrsj Famous uncle? Clues, please Smile.

blossoming · 08/05/2011 17:05

This is the best I can come up with fritzi. I do like your swimsuit.

wideawakenurse · 08/05/2011 17:40

Sorry, here

blossoming · 08/05/2011 18:29

morag, I tried the ankle tie espadrilles but they didn't suit me.

Good site that wideawake. I like the Jigsaw one best.

Hi all,
We had the first rain in weeks yesterday but the sun is back today and the DC have been enjoying their new bikes (v wisely bought with Tesco vouchers by DH)!
I discovered some v sad news the other day that a girl I was quite close to her as a teen/ early 20s died of breast cancer (mid 30s). I hadn't been in touch with her for years but it is shocking and seems so unfair. She left a husband and two v young DC :(

NY-I have asked re S/pore hotels as I can't remember the names of the ones I have been to. I have been told that the Fairmont Hotel is excellent and also the Swissotel. I expect that Pan Pacific is great too. To be honest, I think the standard of service in The Far East is generally v high compared to the West.
Lovely clothes haul btw. I especially like the Mango jacket and shirt.

Pleased that you have recovered from your bad hair day bloss. I guess you will be of to London next time?!

emo- v jealous of your work trip! Why can't the NHS fund such things? I guess I have picked up the odd free pen/ note pad and cheese sandwich.....

I picked up this pretty blouse in Zara the other day (in blue), although I haven't yet tried it on. They have lots of pretty shirts/ blouses at present; lots of bright colours, butterflies, moths, etc.
I also got this in H&M in the coral colour. It is cheap and cheerful but flattering on and works well with a vest underneath.

Must go and get the DC into the bath!

FritziGreenEyes · 08/05/2011 18:51

bloss and wideawake Thanks for the links, so many choices!

FritziGreenEyes · 08/05/2011 18:53

Oh looby, that is shocking news Sad.

redllamayellowllama · 08/05/2011 18:58

Lovely to 'see' you Looby. So sorry to hear about your friend; words can't even begin to express, hey?

Fritzi, hope you had a lovely time away and happy Mother's day!

Bloss glad things are looking better on the hair-front today. Are you after heels or flats?

I second Fritzi, MrsJ, clues needed!

FritziGreenEyes · 08/05/2011 19:32

I love this bird-print kimono from Zara but the colours are no good for me.

OllieWollieWoo · 08/05/2011 19:46

Looby very sad news about your friend.

Am loving all my new FB mates!

Had a lovely Mothers Day here today. Breakfast in bed (croissants, strawberries, cup of tea and glass of bucks fizz) then we went on a long cycle ride to a small water park - boys had a great time playing in large basins of shallow water with pumps, boats etc. Handed over all cooking responsibilities to DH and guess what we had for Sunday dinner - pancakes with bacon and syrup!!!!

My Dutch lessons start tomorrow morning - there is only going to be 2 of us doing it and the other lady is away so I will have a 3 hour lesson on my own! Eek! What to wear? Smile Have already brought a new notebook and pen - I can't believe I have linked to a notebook but I love buying stuff like that!

The White Company has a new blue and white striped maxi dress which looks quite good here.

redllamayellowllama · 08/05/2011 19:57

Of course, happy Mother's day to you too OWW, sounds lovely. Like the maxi very much. Good luck with your lesson tomorrow - what's your Dutch like at the moment?

I got a lovely butterfly print top from Zara a week ago that I saw in the Sunday Times Style supp, but is no longer online. Was bizarrely delivered by a woman today who'd had it delivered to her by mistake yesterday - not even an address that is remotely similar. Very honest, I thought.

Littered around the Market today and had a lovely drink with DH whilst both DC's slept. We also bought on of these sheep footstools as a wedding present for my best friend; her fiancee is a farmer and they have pet sheep and like things like this. Hope it suits as it might be an odd gift.

Also, posted previosuly - my sister has asked mother sister and I to be bridesmaids and we need to find something to suit us both. She's 5ft 9", red-haired, fair and very slim. Wedding is a festivally vibe in a bunting-bedecked marquee on a farm. Any help gratefully received.

loobylu3 · 08/05/2011 20:07

Yes, red- words can' express the loss of a child or a young adult. She was such a lovely person too and slim, healthy and clean living. It just shows you how fragile things can be at times..

I like the look of the maxi OWW. I am yet to even try on a Maxi. I've always thought that they weren't v me but some of the WC ones do look flattering (on the models at least)!

red- I'm not sure I will be the best person to advise re bridesmaid dresses as I never had white wedding/ bridesmaids, etc. What sort of dress is your sis wearing? Have you any colours in mind? What is the budget?
As an aside, I thought Pippa M's dress was lovely the other weekend and would have been the kind of thing I would have liked if I had got married in white (well ivory probably)!

FritziGreenEyes · 08/05/2011 20:08

Ok, you can find me now on FB. Have re-activated my old account and blocked some FB-users that have bothered me in the past. There are only old pictures of DD and of our house. How do I find you all now?

redllamayellowllama · 08/05/2011 20:12

Such an over-used cliche, but it makes you so thankful for all you have. Thinking of you; it must have been such a shock to hear.

On the wedding front - budget of up to £150 probably. Her dress was bought from a vintage shop (she had a Whistles one which she saw a 19 year old shop assistant in and took it straight back) and is above the knee, pleated, deep v-neck with turquoise beading. I'll really wear anything, but little sis is very colour conscious because of her red hair. She's keen on blue or green, which would work for me too.

redllamayellowllama · 08/05/2011 20:13

And yes, yes to Pippa's dress. One of my biggest sartorial regrets is my wedding dress.

blossoming · 08/05/2011 20:18

Hi looby, so sorry to hear that. Shocking.
I was a maxi virgin till yesterday. I think you just need to find the right one. I thought they were all floral and boho which is what put me off. My style being the polar opposite of that (whatever that is, everyspring?)

redllama, I was just thinking of footwear to go with said maxi. And how do you cover up in them? NAP did not provide much inspiration!

fritzi, if you find me, you'll find the rest!

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 08/05/2011 20:28

I always feel a bit odd in maxis and heels - probably more to do with my clumsiness than anything else, so you may not have this struggle. Your Boden slides sound good.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/05/2011 20:37

bloss Found you on FB!

notyummy · 08/05/2011 20:41

Hi all Looby- So sad to hear about your friend. Really brings it home about what my friend, who i saw yesterday, is going through as well. She is halfway through her chemo at the moment, with radiotherapy still to come. She is so brave but flagging slightly at the moment with sickness and ulcers.

Bloss- I think jewelled flats or wooden heeled sandals both look good with maxis.

Red- there are the usual contenders of Coast/Monsoon for the dresses, but they are a perhaps a bit obvious. There are some pretty dresses in Ted Baker and FC at the moment although I am on iPhone so struggling to look. John Lewis or Harvey Nicks both got a great range to look through in the sort of price range you are looking at.

Anyone watching the 'Human Body' series on Thursday BBC 1? Have skyplussed and am watching now. Amazing stuff.

Have decided that I really need nude heels after agonising over what to wear for the big presentation tomorrow and bring key down by suitable footwear. Either wrong colour shoes or too casual. I am wearing blue Jigsaw trouser suit with new stripey Mango blouse. But have ended up wearing black shoes which is a bit of a no no. Luckily trousers so long that you hardly see shoes. Think I will invest next month.

My friend from the ROSPA child safety playdate I described yesterday has texted me to say how proud she was of my problem solving abilities, so it looks like she has seen the funny side. Phew!

notyummy · 08/05/2011 20:44

How proud she was of my DD's problem solving abilities that should have read!!

mrsjuan · 08/05/2011 21:02

How sad and unfair Looby. Must have been a shock to get that news Sad

NY - glad to hear your friend saw the funny side of your DD's antics and that she is coping well with her treatment.

Redllama - sounds like a lovely wedding location- hope you find something special for you and your sister. Love that sheep footstool too Grin

Bloss - Glad you've discovered a maxi that suits you. I think they look a bit odd with heels but work with most flats (except ballet pumps)

famous uncle clues...well, bloss would probably be most familiar with him out of all of us. Initials S J. We're not talking Hollywood famous or anything - sorry to disappoint!

Haven't done any shopping for ages - feel a bit out of the loop. Even DH said to me the other day 'you haven't got many tops' - a licence to shop if ever there was one!

Oh yes, and have been bitten by the ebay bug (selling, not buying) Am using the app on the iphone and just going round the house taking photos of things to put on.

Right - off to find fritzi et al. on facebook

OllieWollieWoo · 08/05/2011 21:07

OOOh MrsJuan - is the famous Uncle a bit of a (wot my Mum would call) hunk and worked on a Channel 4 yoof programme???? (and according to the DM is lined up to host X Factor USA????)

rufus101 · 08/05/2011 21:09

That is so sad Looby. We found out yesterday that a colleague of DH has Breast Ca. Girl in her late 30s. Am utterly shocked. Discovered by her GP, when she went to get something else checked out.
NY I got a pair of nude Carvelas in Tk Maxx yesterday, and they are perfect for work. I have tried them with a narrow blue and white striped matching trousers and jacket from Zara. They are not online, so I can't link.
Hi to all my new FB mates, and happy mother's day OWW

blossoming · 08/05/2011 21:13

What is this about a famous uncle. What have I missed? Rugby player??
