Hi,

I'm getting married in less than two weeks time :D to my lovely gorgeous fiancé.

It's the 2nd time for both of us and we are having a registry office service and then onto a friends gastro pub for the do.

I really struggled with what to wear and ended up getting a candy Anthony 1950s dress. Now it's made, I really don't like it, well actually I just think its wrong, and I think it's going to make me look like a cute little girl, and I want to look like a stylish woman.
I'm only 5ft tall, but I'm 37. My fiancé will look gorgeous in a suit from Richard James he had made.
I didn't sleep at all last night looking at off the peg options. But I'm so confused. I've gorgeous bright blue louboutin shoes so needs to go with them. And I guess can't be long as no time for any alterations.

Zthank you so much, please help me x x

Oxfam have bridal departments in 11 stores, you could pick up something quickly and get it adjusted if necessary. And perhaps donate your unwanted dress...

Locations here - if you are near any.

I would have killed to wear a Candy Anthony dress Envy

Please consider that it's last minute nerves, her dresses are beyond stunning, a Monsoon dress would be meh in comparison!

Not usre if the link will work, but this is how to rock a Candy Anthony dress and not look like a little girl.
I think they are great dresses.
Are you sure this is not just nerves?

Just looked at Candy Anthony dresses...they look stunning to me! Would you look little girlish if your hair is up? In a sophisticated "do" ? Surely not! Thoe shoes would add edge!

i love the dress you linked to with the red underskirt.

I think because i'm so short 5ft, i'm going to have to go for something short, as i'll never get something altered in time (there arent many working days between now and then beacuse of the bank hols).

I love that Issa dress.

I guess i'd not want to spend more than ÂŁ600, due to already wasting ÂŁ2k.

Do you think it might be last min jitters? I loved my old dress (vera wang) and i know i'm upsetting OH talking about it :(

Is it possible you're having a sort of frock version of cold feet? Are you afraid that it's going to look TOO gorgeous? I know that sounds odd...but I too woud be shy of wearing such a stunnning dress....are you shy? Worried about attention?

you are insane, you don't spend 2k on a dress and then buy some else from monsoon.

I think you are crazy, lady! Candy Anthony dresses are fabulous. So feminine and flattering to a range of figures. With brightly coloured Louboutins all you need is good hair and make-up and you are ready to go. Unless you really froth it up with the girly accessories (which you won't) those dresses look very stylish and simple.

Obviously if you feel hideous in it, you should look elsewhere, but at short notice and with a high street budget, how realistic are you being?

i think you need to call a good friend to come round and collect your dress and shoes and try it on. do your hair and makeup as best you can on your own and have a trial run with an honest friend.

I think if you remove the underskirts it will look less frou frou. Replace them with a layer of white tulle slightly shorter than the dress just to give a little substance. If you want to use the blue get them to make you a long sash that you can tie in a loose bow. It will look more sophisticated and less girly.

It's a lovely dress, don't dump it yet [busmile]

If she removes the underskirts Verity the dress will lose it's edge...the very thing which makes it a wearable version of a 50s dress. It cost 2000! You can't butcher it! It's been put together by an artist!

Ok, I "think" i've attached it, and my hair to my profile. can you have a look please?

Please be honest. You can't see the blue under skirt thingy, but it's basically big and blue... very much the same colour as the shoes.

xx
