I haven't as yet submitted to the full beard and elasticated waistband trousers. But heck, it's hard isn't it? I absolutely love clothes, make-up, and all that shit.... but I am becoming more and more interested in my garden (not a euph). Last night I went to the garage to buy milk in my gardening clothes.

Anyone else going through the same thing? Have you any tips you can share?

I'm intrigued by Tracy Anderson - saw some of her arm moves on youtube and it looked amazing. Is she worth a try then?

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 00:11

Goooooooooooood MORNING Crepeys

It's a new day, the sun is shining, the gastro is receding - just left with some residual head spinning nausea, and now weighing 8st 12lbs. So all good.

I too don't like the G word, and I made the mistake of googling it.

I love Hagsnet and Midnight how grim for your dh, hope he's soon recovered. Swedes, I have done Yoga but got put off by bonkers hippy pregnancy yoga when they tried to persuade me to "breath out of my vagina". I laughed too much and felt I could never go back and look at all the humourless hippies again.

I am also tempted by the Shred dvd but already have a couple of exercise dvds that dds and I do lacklusterly so wonder if it'll be a waste of money?

Perhaps to counter the brain fog and sense of time slipping away we should all try to achieve something NEW? Read a new book, see a film or band out of our comfort zone??? What do you think?

KristinaM · 28/04/2011 06:48

Good morning nothing natural, hope you are feeling better today

My new thing this week is buying red trousers from zara. I hope I don't have to get a Bangor bob to go with them Grin. I've not cut the label off yet so you have time to tell me if I'm making a big mistake

Planning to start walking running at the weekend to hopefully lose a few pounds

JackieNo · 28/04/2011 08:18

Nothingnatural - glad you're feeling better. I very much like the idea of doing something new - I definitely tend to stay in my comfort zone, so doing something slightly scary ('Feel the fear and do it anyway' arf) is a good thing. Just not sure what. Will have to think about that one.

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 08:22

NN - I'm learning Chinese, which has been a big step out of my comfort zone! It's definitely harder to get it all to 'stick' in my memory though.

Just had a light breakfast (one boiled egg) and about to get ready for my next run. Hopefully I'll manage more than the 4 runs today, although I'm not wildly optimistic about that.

Interestingly, and it may just be a coincidence, my knee is feeling much better than it did before my first running attempt. Maybe exercise is all it needed?

ScaredOfCows · 28/04/2011 08:32

This thread has been quite a revelation to my 43 year old self. On the one hand I feel relief that all of these, err, side effects to being over 40 are so common, on the other hand I feel a little put out that if they are so common, maybe there is nothing I can do about them. Had been labouring under the delusion that I could take myself in hand at any time I felt like it and transfrom myself into something that looks like a 25 year old again. Anyway, have just ordered a treadmill off Amazon, since everyone seems to advocate running, and I am too embarrassed to run in public.

I had no idea that there were so many of us of advancing years on MN either.

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 08:33

Ni hao BIWI Well done on getting out of your comfort zone. I am so thoroughly entrenched in mine I need to do something. Am thinking of meditating. Not that wild though is it?

Kristina I LOVE those trews. So Envy that we don't have a Zara here in Oz (well one has just opened in Sydney but I'm about 1500Ks away).

WhatsWrongWithYou · 28/04/2011 08:34

Love those kecks, Kristina - I'm about to order these - look like same old indigo jeans in the pic, but I tried them on last week and they're a lovely deep but quite bright blue and just light cotton trousers.
Am trying to keep the linen trousers in the wardrobe! Only got one pair left now, but they cost £95 from Jigsaw last spring, before I had my linen trouser epiphany, so I occasionally feel obliged to drag them out.

ScaredOfCows · 28/04/2011 08:35

Is this someones idea of a joke!!!!!!!!!!

feckin 'MUM' blouse

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 08:38

I like that blouse.

Oh also DH's order of snuggies/slankets arrived yesterday.

I really should shoot myself now.

echt · 28/04/2011 08:40

Gosh, it's shite, isn't it?

Been loving this thread, even though I'm late 50s and post menopausal.

The garden bit (to return to the OP) I'm about to embrace, having just bought a house in Oz with our very own garden. Yay!

I will endeavour to look stylish, though, and being guntless seems a good start.:o

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/04/2011 08:43

I agree about the doing something new. Whether I'll actually do anything about it is another matter......

BUT in the spirit of Bonsoir's post perhaps we should counter our moaning with a positive point too.

So my positive for the day today is.............wait, it'll come to me..................nah, can't think of one. Well it is early, maybe I'll come back later Grin

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 08:46

I like that mum blouse!

ScaredOfCows · 28/04/2011 08:52

It's not that I don't like the mum blouse, but who's idea of a joke was the name of it?

herbaceous · 28/04/2011 08:53

MY EYES. I've just googled gunt. And now I'm not sure I do have one, thank the lord.

Carpenter news - he's gone. Or inside.

On a 'doing something new' vibe, I've discovered a local Zumba class. Am I likely to look like ridiculous, like Linda Snell at HorseMeat Disco, or will there be other crepers there I wonder? I'll be lying down at the back within 10 minutes, anyway..

galwaygal · 28/04/2011 08:53

Oh I love you all, I am 43 and still trying to delude myself that getting pregnant again would hide the tummy bulges. So I am making the positive decision to join you all in the couch to 5k starting monday. (Have been failing to get pregnant again anyway due to being peri-menopausal - in denial about it but blood tests are proving otherwise!)

I even went and purchased my first ever MP3 player yesterday in preparation for the C25K. Still have to work out how to use the darn thing, but at least I feel that I will have the company of all you lovely ladies as I bounce my wobbly bits down the road on monday.

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 09:01

my arm strap for my iphone has arrived so I'm nearly all set...

Blackduck · 28/04/2011 09:09

I do not have a gunt (hooray!), but I wish someone had warned me of the pics on Google....I feel quite tramatised.....!
Haircut got lots of (positive) comments so must try to keep it tidy and Iam going to try C25K and some yoga.......

herbaceous · 28/04/2011 09:20

And I'm going to order a replacement 30-day Shred DVD, plus 'Burn Fat Boost Metabolism', which sounds promising. I wonder if it works if I watch it from the settee.

On another note, my moisturiser is running out. What do you ladies recommend? I've got dry skin (or dehydrated, apparently there's a difference), especially on the cheeks, where there's also redness, not prone to spots. I had been using Protect and Perfect, but it's a bit harsh and I haven't seen much improvement. That kind of price, and availability, is what I'm after. Ta!

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 09:23

decleor is really great - I use iris oil and hydra floral moisturiser - there are good offers about if you google. QVC do it and you can send stuff back to them if you don't like it.

noddyholder · 28/04/2011 09:25

I bought some decleor last week which came yesterday and its great. I did the fake tan body lotion last night before bed and the colour is amazing light and no streaks. The oils are great too. I am using the neroli For hardcore skin creams avon is good but decleor is lovely and gentle for everyday and makes skin glow

aLegonEachCorner · 28/04/2011 09:27

Oil of Olay......3 Point Serum (NOT the cream). Use it under any old cheapo moisturiser but USE THIS SERUM.....it's good.

And so that the serum gets to where it ought to be....a gentle exfoliant to take off those top scales!!

I think I have a "petit gunt"....my gym membership's been put on hold for ankle and hip problem (old old injury - I am ancient). Lord, if I cannot even do the gym........am in BIG trouble.

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 09:40

I like the Jurlique stuff. Smells gorgeous and it's made just down the road from moi on some biodynamic farm. So obv fab of course. Sort of mid-range pricey here, no idea how spenny it is in the UK.

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 09:44

Woo hoo! I did it! All 8 runs!

I set myself a target of 6, and I was amazed at the difference between day 1 and day 2. It was easier and I was really, really surprised by that.

So I did my 6th run, and was turning back home - but still listening to the iPod and then thought I would at least start running for the 7th minute, and then finished it and so went for the last one.

I'm very pleased with myself Grin Grin

Only downside is I think I have a little pull in my calf muscle, so I'm doing my stretches and about to go and have a hot shower to hopefully deal with that.

herbaceous · 28/04/2011 09:45

Ooh thanks ladies. I like Jurlique too, but I think it's a trifle £££ here. Well, I've seen it in Space NK which generally means high maintenance.

And I'd heard good things about Olay's 3-point stuff. Maybe that under Decleor, and I'll look 10 years younger. If someone could eliminate my double chin, anyway.

Right. Off to soft play. May have a lie down in a quiet corner.
