I haven't as yet submitted to the full beard and elasticated waistband trousers. But heck, it's hard isn't it? I absolutely love clothes, make-up, and all that shit.... but I am becoming more and more interested in my garden (not a euph). Last night I went to the garage to buy milk in my gardening clothes.

Anyone else going through the same thing? Have you any tips you can share?

LOL Hagsnet Grin

Not feeling too bad today - smartened myself up to lead a training session at work, and was relatively controlled in the face of a huge buffet with yummy cakes (that I had madeBlush)

But still have the 3lbs gained on holiday to lose.

Don't click on google images for gunt - shocking!!!

RoyalFucker · 27/04/2011 19:33

I am going to make my mantra "what would bonsoir and moondog do" Smile

cocolepew · 27/04/2011 19:33

If you need cheered up read the Utter nonsense your parents believe thread, it's hysterical.

RoyalFucker · 27/04/2011 19:36

I don't have a gunt

I had never heard that term before, but at least I know now I don't have one Smile

I even have a flat tummy, so nerr

the cellulite on my thighs is shocking though

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2011 19:40

I don't have a flat tummy, but I definitely don't have a gunt like the ones on google images, thank f**k!

Stropperella · 27/04/2011 20:08

My skin is just a size too big all over and probably 2 sizes too big in the tummy area. I have a flat(ish) tummy, but my bikini-wearing days are definitely over. Actually, I think my window of opportunity for wearing a bikini was approx 4 weeks in the summer of 1977.

RoyalFucker · 27/04/2011 20:10

I still wear bikinis, cellulite or no cellulite < shameless >

Stropperella · 27/04/2011 20:13

I have a swimming costume with legs.

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2011 20:13

Stroperella (should be my DD's name), my skin is definitely 3 sizes too big on my upper arms - hence bingo wings, and about 2 sizes everywhere else, though sometimes it is more filled with fat than others.

cocolepew · 27/04/2011 20:15

I don't have bingo wings but I do have upper arms like Popeyes

adamschic · 27/04/2011 20:16

I still wear bikinis on holiday, no-one bothers when it's hot. Have a few nice cover ups for walking around in. I wonder when I will have to stop wearing them?

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2011 20:17

Coco, I have Popeyes muscles on top, and bigo wings flapping under, which DS cuddles and flapsBlush

Stropperella · 27/04/2011 20:20

Yes, this whole "skin-too-big" issue is why I'm bit worried about losing weight. Am not actually overweight. Just a bit, um, flobbery. And the bits that aren't flobbery are wrinkly. Sex on a stick, me. Anyway, anyone know what trainers are good for people with square feet?

minieggfannomore · 27/04/2011 20:44

Lovecat - resist the monobosom. You seem to be doing well with the diet. 3lbs is v impressive. I never lose an ounce.

Re. skincare: I have always had freckly but quite oily skin. Now its all dry like a parched desert. I just shovel on loads of any kind of cream (Eve Lom at the moment, sometimes Boots serum) - loads at night and when I get up.

Am worried about jowls (ladies in my family not wrinkly but jowly). May have to buy chin strap.

instantfamily · 27/04/2011 20:48

I'm only 41 (for another whole month) but I relate to the gunt, facial hair, zero libido, et al.

What I really want back from pre-peri-whatever is a sense of style and clothes to fit it. Don't you look into the shops where you used to be spoilt for choice and think: who is going to wear that? Can it all be horrible or has my taste just gone down the drain?

Do I have to do a trawl of style and beauty for style-suggestions for over-40ies?

Minniegg - omegas for dry skin, pay attention at the back!

ScarlettButler · 27/04/2011 21:19

Have read this thread and quite frankly TERRIFIED. Late motherhood has left skincare/grooming a bit to be desired. A bit? I'm kidding myself. A lot....
Need quick update to save myself from looking like 90 by my next birthday. So please save me and tell me
what is this reference to 'shred' I keep hearing
What are the omega 3 stuff that you are meant to get? any partic brand?
And the progesterone cream?
And anything else I should be buying to save myself from hagdom?
Yours gratefully

Swedes2 · 27/04/2011 21:23

Midnight - v sorry to hear about your DH. Is he OK? What a fright.

I agree with Bonsoir. This thread should be about the triumph of hope over gravity. Yep. And self improvement.

I really don't like that G word.

Does anyone do yoga?

PS I didn't get my running shoes today. Tomorrow. Or Saturday.

Well, I can tell you I've just finished a shredding session (Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred). Lots of MN threads on it. I actually didn't find it too bad, probably because I've been to the gym a bit since my last attempt.
What Moondog said was very apt - I've just stopped kidding myself Slimming World is ever going to work for me; my problem is sugar addiction, so if I'm 'allowed' two biscuits and some disgusting low fat ice cream or yoghurt that becomes my raison d'être for the day, and I fantasise about the next sugar hit.
Much better for me to go back to the healthy eating and steady weight I had in my mid to late 30s - God, was that really a decade ago? It definitely helps with the mood swings as well.

mittenkitten007 · 27/04/2011 21:57

Coco -- have now got Syndol, thanks. Par-TAY! Actually rather scared to take one. DH has generously shared some of his Ibuleve gel and it's really helped.

dementedma · 27/04/2011 22:04

am on week 6 of the C25K and struggling - thought it was supposed to get bloody easier!!! On the plus side i have muscle definition in my thighs for the first time in years and the dreaded belly is definitely receding! going to keep at it.

minieggfannomore · 27/04/2011 22:11

Coco - sorry forgot the omegas. What called and how much? Do remember I have to take last thing at night (correct?).

mittenkitten007 · 27/04/2011 22:15

Gawd, I love buying new trainers.

Strop New Balance trainers come in widths I believe. Brooks too I think, Asics maybe. I have narrow feet so not a big expert on wide feet. Your best bet is to go to a place where they know what they're doing in fitting because your arch is important and I believe determines whether you pronate (roll inward) or supinate (roll outward) on your foot or are neutral.

Noddy I'm horrified that your new trainers have hurt your feet! That is NOT ON. Don't mess with your feet! I speak as someone who is very prone to blisters and also has lost several toenails due to bruising at various points. (Don't worry -- they grew back.)

mittenkitten007 · 27/04/2011 22:22

Oh and WWWY I so agree -- quitting sugar entirely is much easier than trying to cut back. I can't seem to ration myself so I suppose I am addicted too.

Also, Tracy Anderson claims her method will tighten "loose skin" -- got her Mat Workout on Amazon for very cheap now that she has a new one out.
