I haven't as yet submitted to the full beard and elasticated waistband trousers. But heck, it's hard isn't it? I absolutely love clothes, make-up, and all that shit.... but I am becoming more and more interested in my garden (not a euph). Last night I went to the garage to buy milk in my gardening clothes.

Anyone else going through the same thing? Have you any tips you can share?

Any omega 3, supermarkets fine, take about 2000mgs a night.

Watch Syndol can make you sleepy.

Well done BIWI Smile

cocolepew · 28/04/2011 10:00

Can I just say thanks to Will and Kate, DH got paid a day early cos of the wedding and I am no longer skint Grin

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 10:04

Way to go BIWI!

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 10:09

Oh, and if anyone likes Beck, I ran to Guero today and that seemed to fit well with pace/mood.

cocolepew · 28/04/2011 10:11

I used to run with my ipod and thought I looked supercool, then I forgot it one night and realised I huffed and puffed and sniffed my whole way round. I wondered why people would look behind them when I was miles away Blush

moondog · 28/04/2011 10:14

Yes indeed.
Who in the name of God buys all those weird diet foods and shakes and loofahs biscuits? Bloody hell, eat some proper food, just a bit less of it and stop making charlatans rich!

I'm in my running gear if anyone is interested. About to do my 5km.

Exercise helps you sleep better too and good for upping boudoir activity generally.

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 10:15

I just want to say this stuff is beyond great if you are feeling saggy. I layer it under a vitamin C night cream (not from the same line) because it's not that moisturizing in itself.

I read somewhere that the skin care ingredients that really work are basically retinol, vitamin C, DMAE and peptides! Peptides are amazing. Not of the school of thought that lovely packaging is of itself therapeutic . . . possibly because I have reactive skin and don't get on with most scented creams, etc anyway.

midnightexpress · 28/04/2011 10:15

Morning all! Well done BIWI - v impressive!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts for DP. He looks as if someone has rubbed his entire right side with a cheese grater, and a couple of the grazes are quite severe, but apart from that he's fine, and has gone back to work today. The joys of being a contractor...

Re doing something new. I have a humungous 'project' that I am going to try and get off the ground, so out of my comfort zone that I don't quite know where to start. But I have made some tentative steps, due in part to Swedes' inspired New Year resolution to 'live more bravely'. So far so sloooow, but we'll see.

I have terrible trouble with skin creams as I have super-sensitive skin. I use a prescribed non-perfumed non-anything cream, and I can't honestly say it's any different, smoothness-wise, from any of the other stuff I've used over the years (though I've never shelled out big bucks on Creme de la Mer or similar, it must be said). TBH, I think the real best plan for good skin lies in keeping out of the sun, and drinking enough water. Like the mavens at Vogue have been telling us for years, ladies.

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 10:25

Crikey moondog -- is the entire 5km RUNNING? Shock

Midnight, omg -- sounds really scary about your DP!

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 10:47

woohoo BIWI - go girl!
I wanted to go for a run last night but family life unexpectedly intervened (as it does) to rule it out. Hopefully tonight though.
Moondog - how do you know how far you've run when you aren't on the treadmill?

kizzie · 28/04/2011 11:25

Re the 'doing something new' - ive been reading quite a lot about that recently in terms of trying to slow down time.

Not necessarily big things - but if you always drive the same way to work - try a different route. or if you always buy the same bread - try a different one. Or a new author. Or buy a different newspaper. Just to stop that sensation of each day morphing into the next.

makes sense really - going to try it anyway

DukesOfTripHazard · 28/04/2011 11:27

mittenkitten, that serum looks great but I get a bit of rosacea either side of my nose and it's not good at the moment. Do you think it would be a bad idea?

Have been lurking here since Swedes first posting and it's kicked my butt. Am 44. Periods going through sensible stage. Doing shred. Am going to check out Jack La Lane facial exercises. I really recommend them. I do Carole Maggio Facercise for 10 mins before getting up. Well, I say I do them, I did them for 5 weeks Dec-Jan and started again on Tuesday after reading this. Am already looking fresher and more alert - hooded lids opening up and eyes looking bigger.

Snorted at the isn't there, isn't there is one foot long hair. Am thinking of getting a nasal hair trimmer and some rapidlash - what kind of a mixed message is that?!

MrsFlittersnoop · 28/04/2011 12:12

Doh! Just had lighbulb moment thanks to reading this thread properly.

Was wondering why my skin has been horribly dry and flaking off ALL OVER my body for the last few weeks. Face looks like the Nile Delta.

I ran out of omega-3s last month - had stocked up with loads of bottles during a Tesco BOGOF offer ages ago and was on the lookout for a similar deal . I usually take 2000mg per day! Shock

Brain Training is absolute tripe.
No evidence whatsoever behind what is just a ply to get you buying more electronic crap (which is no good for you as yuo just spend even more time frowning at a little screen. Why? Go for a run. That'll sharpen everything uo. For NOWT.)

moondog · 28/04/2011 12:27

Silk, because I work it out in the car, but after a while you know your pace so can work out what you do in a certain period of time.

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 12:32

It appears that I have a more serious muscle problem than I thought Sad

I'm sitting with my leg raised and on ice to see if that helps.

Bugger.

Anyone know what else I can do instead of running? Would swimming be OK or is any exercise ruled out?

moondog · 28/04/2011 12:35

What have you done?
Thrown yourself into violent exercise after not having done it for a time?

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 12:40

BIWI -- Oh no! What happened?

RICE. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Also will add: anti-inflammatory such as Nurofen. And if it doesn't settle down on its own w/i a few days, see GP.

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 12:42

Dukes -- don't know re rosacea. I don't find it at all irritating but as I say it's not moisturizing either (have somewhat dry skin).

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 12:46

moondog - I know not to do that, so did my stretches and the 5 minute brisk walk, which is part of the C25K routine - but I'm obviously just too old and unfit. I really didn't hurl myself around the park, but it was still clearly too much.

I'm doing the rest (handy for guilt-free MNetting!) and ice, lying on the sofa with my leg on a cushion and an ice pack underneath. Not sure if I've got a compression bandage anywhere, but I have a couple of first aid boxes so will have a look. And loads of Nurofen in the house, so will take some of that as well.

Stropperella · 28/04/2011 12:47

Mittenkitten, thanks for the info re: trainers. The buying of the things will be a project in itself, I see. Armed with the new vocab (pronate, supinate etc), I shall venture to the local "proper sports" shop and see if I can get trainers that actually fit me. That will be a new and exciting experience in itself.

To rosacea sufferers: a word of warning re: anti-ageing creams and serums - you may find that many of the active ingredients in these things (specifically retinol/retin A etc) will make your rosacea/thread veins much worse. Many of the active ingredients in these creams are way too harsh for reactive skins and will cause the aforementioned thread veins and spots.

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2011 12:56

Well done on the running BIWI, but shame about the leg. What did you do for warm-up?

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 12:58

But BIWI, which muscle is it or is it your knee?

instantfamily · 28/04/2011 12:59

kerrymumbles, apparently exercise is the best antidote to brainfog. how tragic to go from pregnancy brain straight to menopausal brain!
