do you channel liz hurley in your 'vintage' white jeans

noddyholder · 04/04/2011 21:31

I channel liz all summer

cybbo · 04/04/2011 21:51

I find a peg trouser more flattering to those of us with more junk in the trunk

Decorhate · 04/04/2011 22:06

I got cropped white skinny jeans last summer. Love them!

TheFarSide · 04/04/2011 22:19

I have loads of linen trousers - two black, two brown, two green, one off-white, one grey. Should I kill myself?

noddyholder · 05/04/2011 08:52

like I really think it depends on the trousers and quality

itsalarf · 05/04/2011 11:13

I am having a major panic now. I was just thinking it might soon be time to dig out the linens. I have just two pairs, a chambray and a white. To be fair, they have back pockets, a zip and button, so are a bit more substantial, but they are unquestionably linen. I am flat and wide of arse and also mean, careful with money. What do you suggest? Am also not tall, so am thinking I have nothing going for me

aquavit · 05/04/2011 12:22

I just had a major wardrobe purge and took five bags of stuff to the charity shop. I unearthed two pairs of drawstring linen trousers and was too embarrassed concerned for the wellbeing of others to include them in the donations: so shaming.

Mind you I do also have a very nice and flattering pair of linen/cotton trousers (properly tailored ones) of which I'm mighty fond and they are from White Stuff

gregssausageroll · 05/04/2011 13:36

Its all bollocks really! Wear what you want and what makes you happy and comfortable - I've already owned up to having:

Barbour jacket
Hunter Wellies
Hunter Wellie socks
Boyfriend jeans
A sweetie bracelet
A Pandora bracelet

I am sure there are other things but I will add my linen trousers to that list above.

LynetteScavo · 05/04/2011 16:03

I have a pair of white cropped trousers. I hardly ever wear them becuause they will get dirty. Hmm

I bought them because they are flattering (yes, really) and look good on - especially with summer tunics. so shoot me.

I have a pair of white linen boden trousers, which I usually save for when -I won't bump into anyone I Know-- when I'm in Cornwall.

Once I wore them on the school run with a pair of Crocs. My reception child was horrified, and thought I'd gone mad for dropping him at school in my PJ's.

Pinkjenny · 05/04/2011 16:25

I went in to Primarni for my obligatory linen-trews purchasing event. Every year I buy them. Every year in a different size.

This year, I tried them on, looked at myself and just thought, 'No. For the love of God, No.'

I did not buy them.

However, I may now spend the Summer walking around naked from the waist down.

AlistairSim · 06/04/2011 09:54

That could be rather nice, Jenny.
You could colour your legs in with felt tips every day.

Lovely patterns, horses frolicking, maids simpering...and with the added bonus of no leg sweat.

Pinkjenny · 06/04/2011 11:35

Alistair - it may come to that.

otchayaniye · 06/04/2011 13:13

Velvet cigarette pants
Slim cotton plain flat fronted trousers (think elderly Japanese male tourist slacks)
Wide leg crepe (has to be crepe) trousers with a high waist
Lightweight tweed trousers
Ghost narrow crepe trousers -- at least these drape nicely and might please the linen trouser fan

Don't try and balance out thick thighs with bootcut. Don't wear linen wide legged trousers, don't have fuss and pleating or pocketing at the top. Don't play about with length (although just over the ankle can be acceptable)

If you are larger you can still wear slim fitting trousers (let's face it, you're not going to disguise largeness like that idiot Gok thinks you can with a wide patent belt) but you can balance out your frame with a structured top or a sturdy heeled, or mad, shoe.

Pinkjenny · 06/04/2011 13:22

I have a nice cotton/linen blend pair, which are lovely and don't look like a rag after five minutes. I wish I could find another pair.

cruelladepoppins · 06/04/2011 13:43

I have quite a nice pair of navy linen trewsers. They are really inoffensive and nice and cool and relaxed for summer.

Also have white cropped linen and white cropped denim - but I only ever wear under a dress or tunic so there is no question of anyone seeing my knickers...!

It's still freezing where I am though, I am jealous of anyone who is already wearing their linen trousers. I don't expect to be getting mine down from the loft till around June!
