I refuse to give up my summer linen trousers, but in my meagre defence they are black and long and don't show my pants (although I wear them with longish tops anyhow.

I'd gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon than ever be seen in public in shorts.

I have a fabulous arse, it's just a bit too big at the moment. I'm trying to rein it in. I am having limited success.

All summer trousers are crap imho.

Linen trousers look like dishrags and are so obviously a 'Retired primary teacher has been to M&S' sort of look.

Cargo trousers look scruffy and skinny ones only good if the wearer is tall and thin.

White jeans are tacky. :)

Chinos just look stupid, again unless tall and slim.

Wide can be bad. I had a flatmate at uni who had the most humoungous arse, it was incredible. It was very round and people had to manouvre around it in the kitchen. Her waist was tiny though. She had a very skinny geeky boyfriend. And she was very annoying

The best summer trews I had were cotton ones from h&m - perfect fit and cheap as chips.

My dd has got some brilliant khaki chino things.

I wish I had Kate Middleton's hips. I am thin and have got a nice arse but my hips are wider than I would like them to be.

Yes, but there is a tiny time frame in which to get them ironed as well - you have to iron them when they are damp just so - if you try and iron them dry it will be a waste of time.

It doesn't matter anyway, because 5 minutes after you put them on you will get hideous thigh creases.

And linen trousers always come in vile shades of ecru.
