snigger @ rectors wife

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/04/2011 17:31

30 quid for jersey cropped trousers which you could pick up from Tesco for a fiver (if you were blind so inclined)

mylovelymonster · 04/04/2011 17:31

Hobbs gets worse every year. I used to love them, especially their shoes/boots. Their prints this season are truly awful, even the old ladies will be giving them a miss

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/04/2011 17:33

What does that Hobbs chambray shirt say to you?

Lemon barley
Antimacassars on the sofa arms
Hilary Spurling's biography of Ivy Compton-Burnett

NOT the style of a woman in her prime who wishes to look her best.

charmkin · 04/04/2011 17:34

So find us larger arses something suitable then....

southeastastra · 04/04/2011 17:35

i saw some pics of me in my linen trousers and i do look fatter than usual so i will try to resist this year - theyre so ool though

DuplicitousBitch · 04/04/2011 17:41

hobbs, is the peri-menapausal woman's stop-gap contraception

mylovelymonster · 04/04/2011 17:56

I'm sure we'd all look gorgeous in the new season's jeans

polyhymnia · 04/04/2011 17:59

Getorf - just curious: is it Hilary Spurling you object to, or Ivy C-B (have to admit have never read the latter though my mother liked her) ?

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 04/04/2011 18:03

Ordinarily I like to disagree with cod's threads of this type just for the hell of it, but as a serial linen crop offender I can only hang my head and nod along. I genuinely had no idea how massive they make your arse look until I saw a from-behind holiday photo of myself that made me cry real tears.

Fortunately this year I will be hugely pregnant all through summer, so have carte blanche to look like shit in the name of comfort.

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/04/2011 18:04

polhymnia - no, no objections to either, just sprang into my head as the type of book a rector's wife would read

polyhymnia · 04/04/2011 18:19

ah, see what you mean. Always quite liked Hilary Spurling.

AintMissBeehiving · 04/04/2011 19:44

You can always rely on Pruna at moments like these.

MikeRotch · 04/04/2011 19:56

lol at astar and lol at routinely disagreeing

if any more proof were needed

TaudrieTattoo · 04/04/2011 20:20

I've just bought these

Surprisingly flattering, even with a wide, flat arse. If worn with a long enough top.

Better than linen-style-death.

TaudrieTattoo · 04/04/2011 20:21

It's the belted peg style trousers. Nice, honest.

AintMissBeehiving · 04/04/2011 20:25

I've got some similiar ones tawdry in tencel. I luff them.

TaudrieTattoo · 04/04/2011 20:26

Yy, they are tencel. Very comfy. Worried as washed for first time and don't know how they're going to iron up.

Please tell me it'll be okay.

pointydog · 04/04/2011 20:26

Well it depends on your arse.

I am slim of hip. I recently bought some grey linen trousers and received Proper Compliments.

No drawstring natch.

TigerFeet · 04/04/2011 20:26

Am not taking fashion advice from someone who wears white marks jeans

Am yet to see anything else that I can wear to work being, erm, rugby player proportioned of leg and podgy of knee

Over to you.

TigerFeet · 04/04/2011 20:27

no no, no drawstrings

or elastic

just trousers that actually fit

MikeRotch · 04/04/2011 20:38

i know
i so agree re jeans
but people FINGER Them and say "ooh they are nice..."
its very odd.
they are my only ones.
and are beauts

[childish snigger @ finger]

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/04/2011 20:45

I love white skinny jeans and have houlihans and am gasp short!

I do think that generally flowy/loose clothes makes people look better than close fitting stuff. But I am a tad mutton/liz macdonald rather like MikeRotch so what do I know Wink
