New thread here!

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 21/04/2011 11:14

Gorgeous weather here and there is a large rainbow coloured paddling pool blighting the view of my small, but pretty country cottage style garden! Still, some friends are coming over later so between 3 16 mont olds it will get put to good use.

carciofi how funny, I cancelled my Hasbeens too. My feet are so wide and trotter like, I really need to try shoes on in RL these days.

Emo very swish - Annabelles! Are you sporting a hangover today?

I am wearing stripy janice with bare legs and arms today and gold flat sandals, Tis comfy in this heat.

I am taking navy janice to Cardiff with me, although she has really shrunk in the wash and is pretty bottom hugging. Hey, who cares...I am unlikely to bump into anyone I will see again!

Have a massive list of things to do and get pre trip...most pertaining to DS and his food. Going away with children is like a military operation.

NanAstley · 21/04/2011 11:28

Happy birthday to your dd carciofi. Hope you get a chance to put your feet up now your dh is home. How much longer do you have to go?

Laughed out loud at the W&A meet-up over the Hasbeens Grin

In the end I didnt order the H+M Hasbeens as the only one I liked were the red ones and they look too similar to my Lottas. I didn't really fancy the multi-strap one; ankle straps aren't my thing Blush

I ordered the UO yellow dress. I figured I could always return it if it doesn't suit me.

Also, my mum bought me 2 Biba tops from India from their original store. They are absolutely gorgeous. Only problem is they are too short to wear with leggings (unless people don't mind seeing my camel toe and bum-shape) and they don't go with the Roxanne which is the only jeans I have currently. I think this calls for some jeans shopping for black skinnies. Oh, and look, the weekend is almost upon us to do some purchasing browsing Grin

Emo76 · 21/04/2011 11:40

wideawake I am feeling slightly delicate this morning...Annabel's (I can now spell it correctly) was really nice - very civilised and very posh! My navy Janice has badly shrunk too - a shame but still just about wearable.

nan what great finds from your mum!

Wonder how bloss is getting on on her hols!

NanAstley · 21/04/2011 12:54

Has everyone's Janice shrunk? I haven't washed mine yet but if it's a design fault then I'll just get it dry-cleaned rather than risk it shrinking. I can't imagine any other garment filling the hole in my wardrobe that a knackered Janice will leave

wideawakenurse · 21/04/2011 14:07

Nan. I cannot recommend black j brand skinnies enough, they are so comfortable. Not sure how tall you are, but being 5'4 I go for the 901 style.

carciofi · 21/04/2011 14:31

Emo, sounds like a fun night. I haven't been to Annabel's. Hope you like the garden furniture. DD loves sitting out there and calls it her café.

Nan, I will be 33 weeks tomorrow, not long now!

I also love J Brand and Current/Elliott jeans.

PORTIA4 · 21/04/2011 14:38

Wow Carciofi 33 weeks! you really are on the homeward straight, did you go on time with DD?
Emo Sounds like my kind of night! 'hope you're getting through the day ! The Janice is just fantastic, wore mine last weekend to a girls night, it is so comfortable, but looks great!
Got the larger size in the JCrew Houlialikes, and they really are alike! and will be keeping them.

OllieWollieWoo · 21/04/2011 14:56

Running in and then out - need to pack for our WE away to UK and am at the 'running round the table' stage - ie lots to do but not actually getting on with anything. Have been at school all afternoon helping with a Easter walk/egg hunt - really lovely (tho v warm and lots of hot and bothered kids by the end!)

Stopping off for a couple of hours in Cambridge en route to parents - anyone know it? Think I will just head straight to John Lewis as DH and DSs in tow too!

Loved the Dublin posse meet up. How did MN come up? I occassionally drop it onto conversation but am usually met with blank looks!

Right - really must pack.

carciofi · 21/04/2011 15:01

OWW, have a good time. I used to go to Cambridge quite a lot as a friend lived there but haven't been in years.

Portia, she was 5 days overdue but I think I will be induced near my due date this time. Can't wait for J Crew to open their online store here!

wideawakenurse · 21/04/2011 16:44

OWW have a wonderful time. I know what you mean about dropping on MN things into conversation - lots of blank stares here too. Although a friend did talk about lentil weavers the other day...maybe she is here Smile

Feeling frazzled and totally unstylish after this afternoon, although lovely to see DC having fun with others.

An evening of packing, ironing etc awaits.

Emo76 · 21/04/2011 20:22

Evening ladies. I am having a very early night tonight but whilst waiting for my dinner to cook I found this pretty dress from Kookai. Totally not my colour but thought someone else might like it!! Got a bit carried away Easter egg shopping on the way home from work at a very nice but expensive choclatier, shopping budget is gone for this month but perhaps I can enable some others....!

Emo76 · 22/04/2011 14:26

Did I kill the thread? Grin

NanAstley · 22/04/2011 15:01

I don't think you did Emo Grin

Very nice dress, I'm tempted but it won't suit my current lifestyle, which is dominated by all sorts of baby fluid (dribble, snot, sick, wee....need I go on?)

I was out in the garden all morning, but the rain's pelting down in earnest now so I've retreated to my safe haven of MN Sad DD1 is still outside though with the boy from next door. It will take a lot more than a light drizzle to break up their cycling races Hmm

I'm back to browsing for black skinnies. I too love J Brand (had two pre-dc) but I'm still carrying baby weight and I really don't want to buy nice jeans (or skirts or trousers) till my waist is back to size 10. I'm currently a chubby un-svelte size 14 but working very hard at melting the fat Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 22/04/2011 17:17

Hello from UK! At parents house sitting in the sun watching DSs run around in lovely big garden (ours v small in comparison!). Scoffed 2 hot cross buns - forgotten how good they taste!

Good trip over (apart from DSs not wanting to go to sleep even at 10pm - thought switching cabin lights on and off v amusing - a view not shared by DH and I!) and whistle stop shopping trip in Cambridge - shoes for DSs, and v quick trips to M&S and Next for shorts etc for them. Managed 2 mins in the White Company and liked a couple of things - has anyone got a discount code tho (oh no - have become one of those people who refuse to pay full price for stuff...!). Think I have one for 15% off somewhee but would be great if someone also had one for free P&P??

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

NanAstley · 22/04/2011 17:30

Emo I bought that Kookai dress. In black. In size 10 Shock. That will give me an incentive to work really hard at getting back into shape Grin

OWW I'm sure I saw a thread with a discount code for White Co. Will have a look

carciofi · 22/04/2011 17:46

Ollie, try 11J2A or 10K3A!

Hope you are all enjoying the sun.

MarshaBrady · 22/04/2011 18:23

A quick message to say big Happy Easter weekend to everyone!! Smile

Lovely weather!

Amazing!

FritziGreenEyes · 22/04/2011 19:37

Just back from lovely BBQ at friends' house. Hope everyone enjoys the sunny weekend!

wideawakenurse · 22/04/2011 20:11

Hello. Quick post as at in-laws.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Easter and enjoying great weather.

VerityBrulee · 23/04/2011 09:45

Hope everyone is having a lovely Easter Smile

It's a bit dull here today but the last few days have been fantastic. I find the transformative effect of the sun amazing, out it comes and immediately everyone is happy, smiley, friendly. What I wouldn't give to live in Oz! How's the move going Roary?

Bloss hope you are having a fabulous time. Watched a documentary last night with some shots of Rome, what a city.

So, I was lying in bed this morning and realised that I have bought 5 pairs of shoes in the last 7 days! None of them were expensive, but even still, I feel a bit Blush. Not Blush enough to stop me from thinking about another pair though!

The H&M Hasbeens are a resounding sucess, soooo comfortable. I'm not great with heels, and the sky high Hasbeens I bought in the sales last year are comfy but ever so slightly too high for running around in. The H&M ones are the Super Highs, which are perfect for me, so my eye is on these neutral ones. I might wait for the sales though.

Another sandal success this week was this pair from Next, look much more expensive than they were and a kind of neutral colour. They also come in yellow patent, Hi Vin Grin

Couldn't resist nipping into Primark, but ds begged to leave as the smell of PVC coming from the bags and shoes on a hot day was nearly toxic! I'm tougher than him, so continued to root and was rewarded by adorable nude grosgrain ballet flats, 11 euros! I bought 2 pairs, they are perfect slippers Smile

Carciofi I was jumping up and down with excitement at the thoughts of J Crew shipping to Europe I spend way too much time on their site. I will HAVE to get a job to fund a J Crew habit!

Wideawake you're right about the military planning, traveling with babies/toddlers is such hard work. I've often meant to say how tough it must be with ds's allergies, much sympathy. I don't have allergies, but definate intolerances to dairy, wheat and yeast. I have quite a stash of recipes (mostly baking) to try to make eating more pleasurable, let me know if any would be useful to you.

Sorry for the mammoth shoe post, off to buy Easter egg hunt supplies. Have lovely days everyone!

moragbellingham · 23/04/2011 10:47

Ollie- I have a WC 20% off code AA033 it arrived in the post the day after I bought the maxi!

carciofi · 23/04/2011 11:06

Morag, that is annoying, I would re-order with the 20% off code and send a dress back with the original invoice!

I like your Next sandals, Verity. I wonder will J Crew inflate the prices? Even so I will probably still buy. :) DH is pleased too, he bought most of his clothes there when we lived in the US.

carciofi · 23/04/2011 11:33

After waiting for weeks for a red stripey t-shirt, I just received the wrong top from Wrap. It's a nice rose pink colour and think it might go with the houlihans so may keep. The stripey tees are now sold out.

pickledsiblings · 23/04/2011 16:29

Happy Easter All [busmile].

Back after a fab week Turkey. I am now an expert on the 'Lycians' and DS1's greatest joke is about how I 'ruined' our holiday Grin. I would thoroughly recommend the Kalkan area of the 'turquoise coast' if you and DC enjoy traipsing around crumbling amphitheaters etc.

What a glorious day to arrive back in the UK, glad you are enjoying the UK sun too OWW. We are not that far from Cambridge btw, maybe another time we could meet up.

Verity and Portia, I cannot believe you two meeting like that, it's so bizarre. I love those yellow patent sandels Verity but wish they were leather.

Bloss, I hope you are having a great time in Rome. I left my straightners at home and it was very liberating. I love to air dry my hair (and just ignore the 'bushiness').

Carcofi, hope you are doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of you pregnancy.

PORTIA4 · 24/04/2011 07:54

Happy Easter everyone [busmile]
Another glorious day here, will wear maxi, hasbeens and a sunhat!
Shame they sent you the wrong top Carciofi.
Hope all the travellers are having a wonderful break.
Has anyone seen some nice flat sandals/glads/flip-flops with some sort of adornment ? Would love a pair in silver Smile
Hope the Easter Bunny leaves lots of choccy for everyone!
